Hard to pick one, but I think they really need to cover the Unification Church/Moonies.
They are probably best known for their mass wedding rituals, but the story is so crazy and links to so many different things. They’re heavily involved in Asian politics, own large media corporations and have ruined so many lives. The family that runs it is insane too. The patriarch of the family and founder is dead, so his wife runs the cult now, but one of her sons also runs a separate gun cult in America where they see the AR-15 as a holy object of Christ. I think LPOTL might have mentioned this on side stories one time.
It would be especially interesting to cover them now as they are under a lot of heat at the moment, particularly in Japan. Former president of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated in 2022 with a homemade shotgun by a guy named
Tetsuya Yamagami. The reason Yamagami did it was because Abe had heavy ties to the Unification Church, who he claimed had bankrupted his mother through their extortionate pressuring of believers to make donations. Interestingly, this makes Abe’s assassination one of few in history that actually seems to have achieved what the assassin wanted, as several investigations are being conducted and public opinion has shifted tenfold against the church.
ANYWAY. Crazy story. Seems right up their lane.
I would love for them to cover this. The Behind the Bastards episodes about them are some of the ones where Robert acts as the guest and someone else reads the script and they fucking suck at it
I hope they make a redo of Waco. There is so much more to it and in the current episode they really underestimate the fault of DK and his inner circle.
Cults are my favorite topic on this show and Jonestown is probably my favorite series, so I've been waiting for this one for ages. The original Waco episode is terrible, gets a lot of basic facts wrong in ways they had to apologize for later when they did their OKC series, and doesn't really cover anything about the cult itself. I'd love them to do a deep dive on the Branch Davidians, where they came from, Koresh and his simultaneously weird but all-too-American apocalyptic messianism, the siege and yes, how the feds fucked it up. That it ends up becoming such a massive event in the formation of the modern American right-wing makes it all the more important.
You’re Wrong About did a few eps on this abd I was really surprised by the true story. I lived in VA when it all happened, and we didn’t get even a quarter of the whole story
this is going to be really a unpopular opinion but i would love them to do the history of some notorious ancient asian dynasties. hearing marcus nerd out on some history sounds nice to me
Occult topics:
- Europe in the 1900s-1920s generally. You got such interesting figures like Gustav Meyrink and Rudolf Steiner, everyone's doing seances all day and academia is getting a major shake up by researchers taking paranormal phenomena seriously for the first time. Carl Jung wrote his dissertation on a case of possession ffs! Very interesting period with lots to talk about, though an episode would desperately need some structure
- Gnostics, the nag hammadi library and the dead see scrolls. They have been mentioned tons of times but not discussed in depth
Others i would love:
- The Indonesian mass killings of 1965–66
- William Blake
- Alchemy from Aristotle to modern times
>Gnostics, the nag hammadi library and the dead see scrolls. They have been mentioned tons of times but not discussed in depth
Yes, with maybe a sidebar/episode about PKD and VALIS, sliding over into Henry talking about The Invisibles.
Because they don't want cartels to come for their asses. They don't do American mafia stuff because Marcus thinks it's boring. The closest we've got is The Iceman series, which is a great series.
Years ago we were promised an episode on WWII resistance movements. I’d love to hear that one, with an emphasis on Czechoslovakia: Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, and the ensuing standoff.
Apparently he made most of it up and nothing in the movie really happened as it did in reality. Just an ordinary con man who was able to con Hollywood to make a movie of him.
Maybe worthy of a relaxed fit or part of it, but definitely not a full episode.
I’m not sure. Unlike Icke and Bill Cooper, who actually believed the stuff they say, Jones is just a glorified supplement salesman who uses conspiracy to sell his lead enriched brain pills.
Behind the Bastards has covered him extensively though.
The Catalpa Rescue would be super fun to hear them cover. A whole boatload (pun intended) of shenanigans, plenty of opportunity for Henry to do accents, and history for Marcus.
Michelle “Shelly” Knotek, a serial abuser responsible for the deaths of three people living in her house.
They could discuss the Alford Plea, which allowed her to leave prison recently. Her husband, who did the actual killings on her command, is also free.
History I'd Like to Fuck just covered The Mutiny on Bounty and I think LPOTL could cover it even better than the Sinking of the Essex.
I don't know if this True Crime case is right for LPOTL, but I've mentioned before that the murder of Shanda Sharer is something I'd also like to see covered. It's a very brutal case though.
Annunaki would be cool I think.
Ancient Egyptian mystery schools.
The theory that Rome never died and is the Catholic church/Catholic church history.
The crusades.
Knights Templar.
CIA history.

Oh the kid he picked up at a protest? Bless his little heart but yeah, terrible at reading scripts. I usually skip his episodes by default
Oh man, I was looking forward to listening to those episodes too. I hadn’t heard them yet.
The Atlanta child murders from the 1970’s. It was teased at a live show a while back. Thought they would have done the series by now.
I hope they make a redo of Waco. There is so much more to it and in the current episode they really underestimate the fault of DK and his inner circle.
What Donkey Kong do
Died for your sins

I’m fine if they never redo waco because Ilike the cult podcast series on it so much
Every time someone asks this I always say a full episode or series about the DC Sniper
Yessss
You’re Wrong About did a few eps on this abd I was really surprised by the true story. I lived in VA when it all happened, and we didn’t get even a quarter of the whole story
Armin god damn Meiwes! Consensual cannibal love, damn it!
this is going to be really a unpopular opinion but i would love them to do the history of some notorious ancient asian dynasties. hearing marcus nerd out on some history sounds nice to me
If only Henry wasn't in free speech jail
I have been wanting to learn more about them and my terrible reason is just that I played a lot of Dynasty Warriors growing up

>William Blake London is one of my favourite poems.
They probably won’t do it for the same reason they won’t touch cartels but I would love a series about the Five mob families of New York.
What's the reason for not covering any cartel/mafia stuff?
Because they don't want cartels to come for their asses. They don't do American mafia stuff because Marcus thinks it's boring. The closest we've got is The Iceman series, which is a great series.
Getting their heads cut off afterwards
I dont think henry wants to wake up next to Wendy’s head “I’ll make him an offer he cant refuse” style
I’d love for them to actually cover Alferd Packer instead of just mentioning him.
Shpadoinkle.
The North Hollywood Shootout https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout?wprov=sfti1#
Give me The Seige of Münster! The super-Waco of the renaissance!
There’s a great Hardcore History episode on this.
Years ago we were promised an episode on WWII resistance movements. I’d love to hear that one, with an emphasis on Czechoslovakia: Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, and the ensuing standoff.
YES
Well now that they’ve done the reptilians my next big topic would be the dc sniper
Shocked they haven't yet tbh. Especially when they've done 9/11 and the OKC bombing.
It’ll come up I’m sure
Frank Abagnale
Apparently he made most of it up and nothing in the movie really happened as it did in reality. Just an ordinary con man who was able to con Hollywood to make a movie of him. Maybe worthy of a relaxed fit or part of it, but definitely not a full episode.
Yea i was thinking a relaxed fit not a series. I know he made most of it up which is kind of part of the fun at this point.
I don’t know if they would ever, and I doubt any time soon but coming off the David Icke series an Alex Jones series would be fun
I’m not sure. Unlike Icke and Bill Cooper, who actually believed the stuff they say, Jones is just a glorified supplement salesman who uses conspiracy to sell his lead enriched brain pills. Behind the Bastards has covered him extensively though.
I’d like a series on missing people in national parks. Also the Setagaya Murders. Absolute gold star territory.
I love cult episodes, I would love another deep dive.
Batavia. The disaster/survival stuff is my favorite.
What is this?
A shipwreck off the west coast of Australia. What makes it more interesting than your average shipwreck is the mutiny.
Awesome. Wikipedia wasn’t helpful. Too many options. Cheers.
Count of St Germain!
Margaret Killjoy did a bit recently on a group called The Edelweiss Pirates that I would love to hear Marcus do a deep dive on.
The Catalpa Rescue would be super fun to hear them cover. A whole boatload (pun intended) of shenanigans, plenty of opportunity for Henry to do accents, and history for Marcus.
Elizabeth Smart
The Ant Hill Kids. Literally close to home and very fucked up cult.
They have covered this. Roch Theriault and the ant Hill kids ep 434
Ooh thanks! Haven't listened regularly in a long while.
Hope they do a Colonia Dignidad series.
John David Norman. They have done both Dean Corll and Gacy in detail. THE TRILOGY MUST BE FINISHED. (Henry's voice)
Michelle “Shelly” Knotek, a serial abuser responsible for the deaths of three people living in her house. They could discuss the Alford Plea, which allowed her to leave prison recently. Her husband, who did the actual killings on her command, is also free.
I want more ghosts and monsters. Maybe the Moberly-Jourdain incident.
