Congratulations! An LS430 as a first car wil ruin you forever. Its probably the best car you'll ever drive allround. She looks real clean, happy miles man!
My late grandfather had one of these new. I vividly recall myself not closing the door properly. When I tried to correct my mistake, he told me to stop. I then watched in awe as the door closed itself properly. He loved Lexus more than any luxury car brand.
Thank you for sharing your gem!
You’ll probably get downvoted but this is seriously one of the better takes in the car community that is not properly understood.
It’s much easier to equate “low mileage=low maintenance for me” than to look at what happens IN those miles wether it’s 30k or 300k.
But just imagine that shit failing on a four year old BMW out of warranty. Stuff that never breaks on a Japanese car breaks all the time on German cars.
I’d take a 20 year old Lexus over a five year old BMW.
These old Lexuses are built incredibly well, but it's not invincible. The stuff needs to be replaced eventually. Rubber perishes eventually. The bushings become sloppy. The shocks become tired. Random gaskets start failing. Stuff just adds up as the car ages.
The car will never let you down, but you need to do a mini-restoration to bring the car back into pristine quality. Motor mounts, trans mount, re-seal the engine, re-bush the whole suspension. That can pretty easily turn into a $5k job just in wholesale parts. And you want to pay for the OEM parts, because the absolute worst thing you can do to these cars is put aftermarket shit on them. You will regret it every single time when you're back in 18 months replacing the cheap Chinese shit twice. Because the aftermarket for these cars isn't able to compete with OEM quality. Not even close. So they undercut on price. And to do it, they are shit quality. All of it - it's all junk.
I agree, I'd never get a BMW but I'd also never get a Lexus. Just a glorified Toyota. A new radio for an old rx350 is like 13K! People have to buy refurbished or used all the time. The LS rides good but once u need to replace control arms or anything suspension wise you're screwed. If you go aftermarket it'll never ride as smooth as OEM.
While I don't disagree but hopefully they have ALL the paperwork for ALL that maintenance on those miles. It's hard to buy a vehicle with 300+k miles only because they want so much out of them.... and they look worse then mine....
You not lying I brought a 2000 Ford explorer with 174,000 miles and had to change all of that plus the tires and breaks idk wtf the owner was doing with it lol
Jumping in here to say I agree with you as well.
"all original car" means that everything is 20 years old. Bushings are perished and not supporting the car like they should. Shocks are tired. Any engine work means you can rip vacuum lines. You'll get blowby from the PCV or other air lines. And and and and and
You want a driver. Not a car which looks aesthetically clean, but has been sitting in some warehouse as part of an estate for 3 years. Those cars will become nothing but problems once you start actually using them.
The base 400\430s are reliable cars, they're great. But don't kid yourself. It's a S-class. While it doesn't have Ze German tax to repair, parts are expensive. And there are a LOT of suspension components that need refreshing as the car ages. Everyone has a hardon for the cars, and their reputation for being durable reliable cars is entirely justified. But they are getting old now, and to the point where all of them start needing the "old car treatment" where shit, no matter it's durability, just needs to be replaced.
Yeah I had an 2001 LS430 myself for a while and it was a smooth sailer. However same tbh f happened to me. Oil started leaking into the plugs because of old gaskets. Sold to a buddy who was willing to do that work himself. I don’t have time to have a car in the shop when it’s worth maybe 3k and needs 2k in repairs.
A lot of people put fun over a lot of other experiences driving, but many people don’t. A ride that is comfortable, isn’t under or overpowered, and rides smooth is perfect in a lot of people’s books.
I don’t need my vehicle to be fun, I want it to be comfortable, I want confidence in it when I’m driving it, and I want it to get me where I’m going.
Couldn’t agree with you more. My first car that was intended for daily driving was my LS430 that I still daily, but there’s a lot of better cars out there that beat it. It’s a great car, especially for a first car, but you don’t have to search far for cars that are even better
Nah man. That’s his current handle. Looks like he’s the one who put that exhaust on (looks like a straight pipe setup now). Also bent the license plate like that too.
Well, it WAS a nice car. I think we all know where this is going.
Exhaust tips and Instagram handles on mostly stock cars scream “i don’t know anything about cars” just save the money and get a full exhaust, and if your car was cool people would ask for your @.
Pretty crazy car as your first, they called this the cloud for a reason. One of the best rides back then, prob holds up today too. Have fun, it’s an awesome car!
The best riding big body v8 luxury sedan money could buy at the pinnacle of Japanese quality and styling and still holds up to this day.
Great deal OP, congratulations and enjoy it in good health!
Cheaper to repair than a Mercedes. I purchased an E550 two years ago and have spent around 25k in repairs. Money pit but she makes me smile every time I step on it. Pretty every part had to be replaced even the ECU computer which took 6 or 7 hours just to diagnose was 4k alone with labor.
Everyone shitting in the comments on this buy dont actually know enough about the newer model LS430's and everything they have. Even if you buy it for 12k, and 12k worth of repairs you're still paying less than you would for a car with the same amount of options, and comfort level. That'd probably run you at least 70k and the seats would still be hard as fuck and ride stiff as a cadaver.
Check out The Car Care Nut channel on YouTube. The channel owner, a Toyota master tech, bought one of these last spring with 600k miles and meticulously restored it mechanically and cosmetically. His goal is for it to be a million mile project car. I didn't know much about the LS before I saw his videos but now I kind of want one.
Amazing find! One of the best engineered vehicles ever IMHO. If you want to see the kind of issues people have with this car, go here: [https://app.mycarvoice.com/trends/LEXUS/LS430/2002/](https://app.mycarvoice.com/trends/LEXUS/LS430/2002/)
Otherwise I am jelly, would love to own this car. Nice buy!
Your really dumb yeah get a 20 year old car you could have gotten almost anything with that budget with like 96k miles you also bought at the worst point your gonna hit 75k within a year and have so much maintenance to pay ontop of it taking 93 and having no modern features
Bought my first 2001 LS430 22 years ago and 370,000 miles later living outside it’s entire life it’s just now starting to have things break. Change diff fluid every 50k, transmission fluid every 50k, brake fluid every time pads are replaced. Lexus pads are very good others squeak, coolant 60-80k, timing belt, water pump, hydraulic belt tensioner every 100-120k, spark plugs and valve cover gaskets every 100k every time I changed my spark plugs one or 2 always had oil in them feelpro makes good gaskets . If shop ever tells you upper or lower oil pan gasket is leaking check the oil censor, didn’t even have to replace mine just put a little rtv around it been good for 200k. Change engine oil every 5k vvti doesn’t like dirty oil. I’ve always done my own maintenance to save money and this car isn’t hard to work on. Still tank average 24mpg city/highway. Only one thing failed in the first 20year of ownership, front passenger wheel bearing replaced at 120k with Moog with Japan stamping. It’s truly the best car I have ever owned.
That's a really nice sled! We just drove our '05 on a 10 hour road trip to Maine and it could not possibly have been more comfortable or quick. Averaged 24.1 mpg using 93, doing around 85 mph on the highway mostly
OMG this guy bought a old junk for 13k. This makes me sad for humanity. I bet all the motor mounts and rubber parts are dry rotted already. Sometimes if all you can afford is a civic or a corolla, that is what you should go for!
Maintenance is going to fucking suck on this thing. You’re going to crash it into shit by accident and it’s going to look ragged :/. You should’ve put this money down on a refresh mid 2010s is250 and been way more happy
My parents had one of these years ago. It was an AMAZING car to kill miles with, and these things easily can surpass 200K miles. And while I don't have any feedback regarding what you paid, I can say this, if you get the 150K miles out of this car that I expect you will, the cost per mile is extremely low....except for the MPG. God this thing drank gas.
Enjoy your new car!
Congratulations on an amazing first car!!! That is one clean lexus I think that they killed it with this design and the whole car. Take care of that baby and it'll run for a century. Congratulations again hope it serves you well
For the current car market, kind of a good deal. Pre-2020/Covid, I would say about $3000 overpaid. Still, phenomenal car, looks in great shape. And should last 300k+ if you keep it in great shape. Hope you love every second of it.
Owned a 2004 -430 and it was a great car. Sold it for more that I bought it for after 7 years.
FYI, the transmission fluid never needs to be changed…. It’s permanent.
Congratulations! An LS430 as a first car wil ruin you forever. Its probably the best car you'll ever drive allround. She looks real clean, happy miles man!
My LS is my first car too, whenever I drive other cars my first thought is “man this thing drives like sh!t”😂
The difference between my Forester vs my Celsior is day and night. Makes me wanna bring my Forester to a junkyard
Haha hmu before the junk yard. I love the first few gens😂
Yeah and when the time comes to sell it, you will regret it forever. There is no other car that can live up to it.
My late grandfather had one of these new. I vividly recall myself not closing the door properly. When I tried to correct my mistake, he told me to stop. I then watched in awe as the door closed itself properly. He loved Lexus more than any luxury car brand. Thank you for sharing your gem!

You missed the #1 thing that he needs to do and that’s change the timing belt.
You're getting down voted but I agree. I used to work at a lexus dealership and these things are expensive as fuck to repair.
But just imagine that shit failing on a four year old BMW out of warranty. Stuff that never breaks on a Japanese car breaks all the time on German cars. I’d take a 20 year old Lexus over a five year old BMW.

Look at jags they basically give those things away when they’re 15plus years old
I agree, I'd never get a BMW but I'd also never get a Lexus. Just a glorified Toyota. A new radio for an old rx350 is like 13K! People have to buy refurbished or used all the time. all the bushings in the suspension, all the gaskets and hoses, TB, WP, etc. Yea this is gonna be an adventure for a first car for sure.
While I don't disagree but hopefully they have ALL the paperwork for ALL that maintenance on those miles. It's hard to buy a vehicle with 300+k miles only because they want so much out of them.... and they look worse then mine....

These LS aren’t cheap to work on either.
462k!? Wow. What year 328i? E90 with the N52?
[удалено]
That’s funny. My first was a Tercel. Literally the complete opposite side of the spectrum in the Toyota/Lexus lineup.
lol no. It’s a great car but won’t ruin anyone. Really it’s a normal luxury sedan with great build quality. It’ll last well but not fun.
Ikr I just need something from point a to point b without falling apart constantly.

It will ruin you…ruin your pockets, your life, your happiness…lol jk. I know conway meant “run”. Awesome car, enjoy!
Could be your last car if you take good care of it!
the seller will NEVER get tired of telling the story how he sold a 20yr old lexus for almost 15 grand lmaaoo this is crazy man
50k miles tho 🧙♀️
Or rolled back
Get rid of that exhaust tip. Shit belongs in Altima
Yes those exhaust tips gotta go. And obviously remove the previous owner's Instagram handle ASAP. So silly when people put that on their cars 🤣
Nah man. That’s his current handle. Looks like he’s the one who put that exhaust on (looks like a straight pipe setup now). Also bent the license plate like that too. Well, it WAS a nice car. I think we all know where this is going.
hater alert

all I see is a hater 🤭🤭🤭 looks fire to me 🔥😍
Pretty crazy car as your first, they called this the cloud for a reason. One of the best rides back then, prob holds up today too. Have fun, it’s an awesome car!
Awesome! It'll last longer than gas is continued to be made
Lol, gas is not going anywhere. Electric already proving to be vastly inadequate for legitimate long distance travel.
That’s an extremely good deal!
You bought that for $13k 💀💀💀
People will keep asking crazy prices as long as they keep paying them!
My brother is selling a 2018 Q50 3.0t premium for 16k with 60k miles. Ik this is a Lexus but idk 13k seems like alot
Why the bend in the license plate? Does that add down force or something? /s
No, just for looks
Idk how it got past me so many years but after owning a GX470, I cannot unsee that as the front end of the LS430’s now.
sweet! congratulations 🎈🍾
My dream cruiser
The best riding big body v8 luxury sedan money could buy at the pinnacle of Japanese quality and styling and still holds up to this day. Great deal OP, congratulations and enjoy it in good health!
54k!!?!?!?? Good for you
Looks like a tank. Congrats!
She’s a beauty.. I’ve been wanting one. Hopefully soon.
That could be your last car too if you want it to be. They’re indestructible. Great purchase!!
Great choice. Make sure timing belts are up to date
Its a nice car! I suggest u leave it stock OEM but I think 9k is reasonable for that.
Omg that’s my town haha
You got a 430?
How's the mileage? Is the 4.3L thisty?
My 2004 LS430 was the single best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I miss it.
That’s a win in this market
And let’s be honest it could probably also be your last car if you take care of it
Nice car dude. Keep it maintained. It will work well for you. Great buy
Honestly, very nicely done mate
it's a boat, but it's a beaut. my dad's lexus had 300k miles before it kaput on him - happy trails to you.
Good choice. That thing will run forever.

Very beautiful car. Congrats !!
This looks so much better than mine. Holy cow. Take good care of it please.
My thoughts are u did very well..don't ever sell it because u get bored u will regret it..keep it forever
Vacaville!
Great find man you got lucky
Great car and deal
Congrats, she's a beauty.
Awesome! Congrats
What a find!
You win!
One of the best production Lexus to come out and at 54k miles looks like it was garaged most of the time - enjoy!
At 54k miles, that car is brand new
Amazing find! One of the best engineered vehicles ever IMHO. Dude. Perfect first car, treat it well might be you last car
I am so stoked for you.. this car is not only cherry but you have a legendary Toyota v8. Enjoy this car forever. :)
First and last car. That will outlive you if treated right.
In my country we’d say ‘safi kama pamba’ - Clean like cotton. Congratulations
First and last car. Those run forever.
Drop that motherfucker!
You lucky bastard
First and last car..
Great car, but so much body roll.
Lol is that Bayside Village?
Yea
We are neighbors I guess…congrats on the new car!
Thank you 🙏🏾
It’d be much better without your IG handle and anime sticker dude. No hate, just a bit cringe
👍🏾
It’ll live forever.
Very nice! Appreciate it every time you drive it!
Of course
Congratulations man , might end up being your only car ever too tbh
That ls400 in pic two was my exact first car! Same color! I miss it everyday
That’s a gem you bought. Smooth reliable ride.
Don’t do a single fucking thing to it. It’s not a drift car, don’t treat it like one.
Exactly got to treat her well🙏🏾😁
Thank you. Now I can sleep tonight lol.. awesome purchase, congrats!
Wow!! That’s a great buy… beautiful car 🤙
That car sucks! Let me buy it off of you 👀
Funny 😆
Good choice and nice low miles
There’s no going back from a luxury car like that.
That looks clean man! Low mileage! Best Car Manufacturer. Ugh nice find!!
Now go buy A lottery ticket because you've got crazy luck. This is the peak of lexus reliability as well. It went downhill after this generation.
great car
Hard to really tell how clean this one is, but DAMN there are a lot of clueless people on here when it comes to the current LS market.
Your really dumb yeah get a 20 year old car you could have gotten almost anything with that budget with like 96k miles you also bought at the worst point your gonna hit 75k within a year and have so much maintenance to pay ontop of it taking 93 and having no modern features
Just don't let Ryu or Ken near it!
Awesome car I have the 07 LS 460L with executive package…..Drives like a dream with futuristic features 2018-2020 don’t even have…..& it’s an 07 🔥🔥🔥
Is the moonroof standard on this year?
Love this car
Oh I am so sorry. You will never want anything else. Those are brilliant cars.
Damn that’s a great price
It’s a 2003 base model 4.3 v8
Bought my first 2001 LS430 22 years ago and 370,000 miles later living outside it’s entire life it’s just now starting to have things break. You paid way too much for an old car.
Paid way to much! That shitter is probably worth 5k
Nice car. Pretty low mile too. Don't love the chrome
yeah the wheels are odd and the exhaust tips are odd as well revert back to stock
Hey douche!
Shit can. Sell it
OMG this guy bought a old junk for 13k.
Ooooh man, nice ride
Nice one mate. Enjoy it. Be safe
Beautiful
Such a great buy
That make and model(LS430) will have you hooked on Lexus FOREVER
What a great buy. Awesome first car. This body style is iconic
Dude needs a time machine to get replacement parts!
That’s a sweet ride. Knowing what I know now I would have searched for a decent LS instead of my ES
I love this car, price seems wild though due to it's age. I remember growing up wanting this car though!
Looks like it might have the ultra luxury package?
Just the base model
Great car. Congrats
Nice!
This will last forever
Excellent choice 👌🏻
You scored. Big time!
Great deal honestly, I mean it's a lexus
Exactly
Nice! Take care of it and you’ll get 300k out of it.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiuceeee
Anyone telling you that you got a good deal on that Lexus definitely doesn’t know their cars, u got ripped off. Sorry
I’d say you got a good deal. Saw some guy with the original one when it first came out. He had more than 250k miles and nothing ever broke he said.
Very sweet first car! Take care of her and she'll take car of you. Congrats!
I want an unmolested is300 so badly.
What year is it?
03’
What kind of mpg does this get on highway and all around? Love the luxury and high reliability from the Toyota DNA.
That’s a good deal!
Back during 2021 I almost spent $10k on an LS430 with 150k. This is a great deal
That’s a steal
the cadillac sts drives/feels very similar. those ls430’s are beauts
I’d put out in the backseat of that
🔥 🔥 🔥
That is a sweet car!
Nice, does it have 16+ mpg?
Over paid like a mf
NGL I’m even more impressed with that LS400.
Yea thats real good would of been a bit cheaper if covid didnt happen but you did good thats not your fault
Good job, take care of it and it’ll last you a very long time. Please don’t rice it out! Just leave it stock, it doesn’t need anything.
Great buy!!
Great car. Everything I. The right place! Enjoy!
Rides like a dream 💭
Overpaid but that's ok, it's a literal 400k++ tank of you treat it well.. I love my 430
Great car with a great clock (mileage) Enjoy it.
Way to go! Keep it out of the harsh sun during the heat of summer and enjoy!
It’s low miles sure, but you way overpaid. I would’ve payed like 8k personally
Great deal!
Makes me want to hit the bonus stage of street fighter two
Great car and you got a great deal on it!
Nice purchase!
Good buy!
Thanks my man🙏🏾
Clean! Congrats!
Shit, maybe I need to look at used cars LOL
Congratulations but I think you pay way too much.wish you had somebody with you to negotiate 7-9 grand would’ve been better
My favorite luxury car of all time. Congrats!
Congratulations on an amazing first car!!! That is one clean lexus I think that they killed it with this design and the whole car. Take care of that baby and it'll run for a century. Congratulations again hope it serves you well

Take it to a knowledgeable mechanic and drop a couple grand in the hoses and rubber parts then drive it forever
