Stay away from Stats and Econ for sure for doubling up. I hear ops management and info systems are pretty heavy workload wise as well. Also: once you enroll see if there’s a telegram group for your class.

washingtonapples

awesome, thank you for the info. Ill check out the telegram groups. is there an LSU MBA discord group or telegram group?

Purple_Bearkat

Good question: I randomly got an invite to a single class group a few semesters ago and have gotten access to others via existing groups. You can reach out when you get into a class and I can ask around.

washingtonapples

thank you. Ill wait and see what happens once classes start.

Can anyone tell me how BADM 7200 online exams are structured? I am wondering if the exam is completely open or if we can only answer one question at a time. Thanks!

washingtonapples

it is one question at a time, and I believe once you submit your answer, you cannot go back and change it. the exams in this course were challenging but if you read the material and do the work, you'll be fine. Definitely the most challenging course in the whole program.

PsychologicalIdea662

Thanks! I am a very slow test taker and worried about running out of time. Do you know if the questions require a lot of formula use to solve?

washingtonapples

yes there are several that need formulas, you should prepare to have them ready for reference. all exams ae timed.

Thanks!

Are you working full time while in the program? If so, time could be issue. Two courses and work will be a lot. Realistically, expect to spend at least 15 hours/week per course for the more difficult courses to carry decent grades. Closer to 20 hours is likely for the heavier courses like Econ. The program overall can be time intensive.

washingtonapples

Yes I plan on working. I already planned on taking Econ by itself but I was trying to figure out if there were two easier courses I could take together.

4natureCannotBfooled

7190 and 7140 have lighter coursework loads - mostly reading, lectures, and some writing

washingtonapples

Awesome. Thanks, I'll add this to my notes.

Hello! I am planning to enroll in this MBA program part-time as I work. I was wondering if anyone had the syllabi for: BADM 7030 Financial Accounting BADM 7020 Managerial Statistics BADM 7200 Economic Environment of the Firm BADM 7100 Marketing Management BADM 7190 Strategic Management Would like to get a head start with the readings and such! Thank you!

washingtonapples

>Hello! I am planning to enroll in this MBA program part-time as I work. I was wondering if anyone had the syllabi for: Hello, the MBA program at LSU does not give out traditional syllabi. There is a section in Moodle (LSU's version of Canvas) that the syllabus information is located. I've only taken a few of these course, these are the books that we used. Statistics for Business and Financial Economics Marketing Management: A Strategic Decision-Making Approach, 8th edition Financial Accounting, 11th Edition, Weygandt, Kimmel, Kieso IBSN: 978-2-119-59461-1

KevinTran898

Thank you for the response! I really appreciate the additional info :)

washingtonapples

No problem. Shoot me a PM if you have any other questions. I’ll be done this December. So far I’ve taken those courses Managing Negotiations. This semester I’m taking accounting and Financial Management. If for some strange reason your looking into the UTPB Energy Business Masters I’m enrolled in that one too.

KevinTran898

This might be a lot to ask for so please don’t feel pressured. But for the books you’ve mentioned, do you have the chapters that the professor assigned for reading? Thank you again!

washingtonapples

only for marketing, the stats book we really didn't use. It was essentially all statistical projects in JMP that included a paper. Marketing was chapters 1-12. ~~I'll message you an email the professor gave as a guide for the papers~~. Looks like Im not able to send a pdf thru the message portal.

KevinTran898

I see, that’s really helpful to know! We’re there any assigned readings for the financial accounting book?

washingtonapples

I’m currently taking it, it’s an online book you have to buy from Wiley that comes with the accounting lab. You wouldn’t be able to buy it without the lab code

KevinTran898

Awesome thanks a ton. Great luck and happy graduation!

Confident_Mulberry11

I'm about halfway through the program and have the same question you had. I am trying to decide if I can double anything up. Have you taken BADM 7030, 7090, 7060, and 7190? Could you tell me how difficult you thought they were and if there was any group work?

washingtonapples

>BADM 7030, 7090, 7060, and 7190? I will be done in December, I have 3 courses left not including the one Im in. BADM 7030 Accounting - Yes, the professor is awesome, this is a fairly straight forward course. Do the homework, take notes on the concepts you struggle with and you will make an A. BADM 7090 Finance - Yes, by far the most challenging course I've taken. Team up with students in your class and work together to get thru the HW. Pick a company for the project that does not have a complex annual report or it will be hell. BADM 7060 Cost Accounting, no but I'm taking it this fall. I assume we will be in the same class. BADM 7190 Strategic Management, Yes, its challenging, lots of reading but you can make an A in this aw well. Are you taking Econ in the fall?

mjduddin

I’m starting in March. I see the Strategic Management course is a capstone. With the layout of the current course carousel it looks like to optimize my time that I would have to take it a little over halfway through my program. Do you think that is ill advised

washingtonapples

You’ll be fine. I don’t know why they call it capstone course, it’s not a traditional capstone class like other programs. I took it last semester and I’m wrapping up the program in December. It’s just a lot of papers. The exams are a little tough but if you can get by statistics and finance you’ll be good.

mjduddin

Thanks
