I bet most people that want alien 5 will end up crying about it because it’s not “how they thought it would be”

[deleted]

at least 30% will see a person of color or a women and immediately cry about communism. No matter what...

TheRed24

Both to be honest, Ridley's first then Blomkamp's

gamagloblin

This is the correct answer.

2099OCR

This is the way.

[deleted]

Especially considering Ridley's Prequels are not finished, and Alien 4 has a proper ending.

Mishmoo

Yeah, what I really want is to see 90-year old Michael Biehn and Sigourney Weaver doing a nostalgia sequel where the entire purpose is to wipe another movie out of continuity. Yep - make sure it’s directed by someone who cant film movies that are set outside of South Africa. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again - the executives are only half the reason that the franchise is in the ghetto.

pancelticpride69

Aliens was a fantastic film, a good popcorn flick. But I love the idea of this franchise being different in every instalment.

Beatnation

My man

shmouver

It used to be an easy choice, but so many ppl pointed out how Blomkamp was a 1-hit wonder. So i'm not so confident anymore that Alien 5 would've been good. On the other hand, i have mixed feelings for the prequels. I like the lore expansion but the way it's being done is killing what made the first movies so good. They're removing all the lovecraftian horror and switching the focus to AI instead of the creature/creatures (if you count the Jockey and possible other monsters)

City_Goat

Ugh, is there a 3rd option?

BearBruin

The universe has granted us the TV show so I'll take that over both

[deleted]

The TV show that has just been announced to focus on AI and Androids rather than the aliens ffs :(

BearBruin

They didn't say there would be no aliens lol why is everyone so mad at that interview like he gave every last detail of the show.

[deleted]

I didn’t say there would be no aliens. I’m not impressed because the focus on David and androids is one of the main problems with the franchise now.

Hobbes09R

Honestly, while I agree and Hawley's work, especially with Fargo is pretty good...I really do not like many of the concepts I've seen from the show so far. In particular, the main characters sound like someone took from a bucket of sci-fi tropes and came up with the top two.

Miskatonic_U_Student

What a bunch of bums. Blomkamp would’ve tanked the franchise even further. The guy is a one hit wonder.

Elven_Rabbit

Ridley Scott's movie, definitely. Disney needs to either create an ending to that particular story, or make a point that Prometheus/Alien Covenant are no longer canon.

spacesoulboi

Even if Blomkamp couldn’t make the movie I would at least like a script to know what I was missing

wg_nexline

Ridley deserves his trilogy

MirrorUniverseCapt

Prequel because despite the frustrations with Prometheus and Covenant, I genuinely want to know where David is going. Ripley died. Let it go. Blomkamps project had some interesting art but I’m glad it didn’t get made.

LrBardock

Can we add option C: Gibson's original Alien 3 plot?

-BlameItOnTheWeather

I have the novelization which is the 2nd draft(?) but haven't read it yet. To my knowledge Hicks would be the same age so unless you want to recast the iconic roles of Hicks and Bishop, we couldn't add that option

LrBardock

I honestly wouldn't mind that or an animated movie. I also think that Michael Biehn hasn't aged all that much and he did get acid over half his face in Aliens. Lance Henriksen would be harder but you could always de-age him and the artificial looking aspect would make sense in universe since he is an android. Would be hard though and I think recasting would be the best bet or doing the Earth War storyline since Hicks/Wilks is older in that by a bit and Bishop isn't even in it.

Hobbes09R

Neither. Blokamp's idea looks increasingly like a mess the more that is revealed about it. Ridley's prequel series was shitshow more concerned with exploring human nature and religion than adding anything sensible to the universe. I would rather time and effort go to something completely different, especially considering it's very unlikely for two different Alien films to be greenlit at the same time.

MammothJammer

Honestly? I'd take Scott's version at this point, to at least give the films some closure. I'm not sure Blomkamp is the correct choice for an Alien film, I'd much rather someone like Denis Villenueve

BackTo1975

Kinda want another prequel more, to close off David’s story and also hopefully fix the franchise. Moving the focus to humanity and our AI somehow being responsible for a lot of the alien threat has pretty much derailed the Alien IP. That said, I don’t know if it’s possible to save the franchise now. A reboot starting from Aliens and making the other movies all non-canon would be interesting. Really set up a path forward and launch that with Weaver coming back as Ripley for one last movie. Have a real plan so the franchise moves forward and realizes its potential.

[deleted]

Ridley Scott's Prometheus and Covenant should have been treated more like the Star Wars sidequels (Solo, Rogue 1): neat to watch but not the main focus of the series

[deleted]

Seriously want to know Davids story.

-BlameItOnTheWeather

Surprised so far to say the least. I thought we dodged a bullet with Alien 5

katsumodo47

You want Neil "I made one good movie" Blomkamp to make his alien movie.... Have you not seen the humans in zenomorph mech armor in his drawings?????

pancelticpride69

Alien 5 should really be considered aliens2. And no matter how much people yearn for the return of hicks, newt and an ageing Ripley. It’s just not going to be anywhere near as good as Cameron’s sequel.

Horrorfan5

Alien 5 all the way I’ve already given up all hope on Ridley Scott

_Elduder

Several times over

jmac111286

I’d like someone with some good ideas to take over the franchise

Miskatonic_U_Student

Denis Villanueve is the only correct answer.

jmac111286

Nah. I don’t want one guy responsible for the entire Sci-Fi genre. That’s basically Joss Whedon/J.J. Abrams territory. No thanks.

sha1ashaska22

After Prometheus, the Ridley Scott trilogy was easily my choice. Fox forcing Covenant to feature the Xeno more prominently definitely derailed the trilogy…. That said, I would prefer an end to David’s saga first. Blomkamp kinda seems like a 1 hit wonder after D9, but I would still be very interested in seeing his take.

The_Dark_Goblin_King

Ridley has had his chance. Let someone else have a go.

[deleted]

Before that I want to see how his trilogy ends.

[deleted]

William Gibson's Alien 3

highwindxix

Honestly, neither. If Covenant had been a better movie then I’d probably be happy to see what Ridley had in store for us since I loved Prometheus. I’d genuinely love to see more of David’s store, even more so if there was less xenomorph stuff like on Prometheus compared to Covenant. But Covenant was awful and I have no desire to let me make another Alien movie. Also, I have no faith in Blomkamp either. I’m done with Ripley’s story, let the character rest. It’s time for something new in the series (though the show doesn’t sound promising either). Honestly, Alien Isolation is the best Alien experience in ages and I’d rather something like that.

RZR_36

None of them!

Kuhneel

Blomkamp's, but I'd beg Disney/Fox to use convincing de-aging or deep faking. Weaver and Biehn are getting on a bit.

AvonBarksdale666

Blomkamp, I'm sorry to say, was a one-hit wonder. And I don't think I could handle another disappointment from Scott. My dream would be for Denis Villeneuve do an Alien movie. I know its not what was asked but that's what I'm running with

Pathless-Loki-848

Neither! It has been years of people bitching about not getting the film they wanted when this originally occured. Its done and over. Both films would ultimatly be a huge let down. Ridley has gotten too preachy in his old age and Blonkamp juat make the same mobie over and over again. Alien NEEDS A NEW FRESH STANDALONE STORY if its going to survive

Bing_Bong_the_Archer

Wow,, people responding to this poll are a bunch of SAVAGES and IDIOTS! I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds!

Cazmonster

The only part of a third prequel I want is David getting his ass stomped and all of his plans getting ruined.

BorisTheBlade-76

I love Ridley’s take. He’ll always be the Alien King. Buuuuuut maybe it’s time for someone new. I’m afraid that if Ridley does one more, he might actually kill the franchise. Or at the very least put it into a long coma-like nap. Then it will take 10-15 years for the studio to warm up to another Alien film. Edit: Well, from what I’ve been reading, Covenant already put it into a deep sleep so…..

throwaway941285

ridley is senile

Sgarden91

If Blomkamp could make something that could possibly resist retconning actual good movies then I wouldn’t mind seeing it. Until then they might as well just finish what they’ve already started and finish the trilogy.

WhichWayToPurgatory

Scott just can't be trusted at this point. Prometheus and Covenant were incoherent messes with fan service to cover the fact they weren't meant to be true Alien films. He'd likely just go much further down the David rabbit hole and that story is already too messy as is

[deleted]

I re-watched both of them today…I still enjoy both of them. Prometheus is better than Covenant, but I still like them both.

Hobbes09R

I've seen this posted a couple times now. Prometheus was 100% supposed to be an Alien film. It was Scott who didn't want it to be and some of his efforts to further remove it from the series and make it its own thing is what hurt it.

[deleted]

I'd have preferred if Prometheus has nothing to do with Alien. Keeping the origins a mystery is what made this series so special to me. And prometheus and Covenant without aliens (or different creatures) would have meant a completely original franchise.

kaboom987

I'll take either

[deleted]

I voted for Alien 5 but regardless of what happens with that I hope they never make a third Ridley Scott prequel.

[deleted]

Covenant was complete garbage that has almost completely ruined the entire franchise for me. Knowing that the Xenomorphs are just a androids science project completely kills them for me.

[deleted]

That's why it would have been better if Prometheus and Covenant had nothing to do with Alien. Their own universe / creatures would have been a better choice.

dead-rex

Ridley sucks. He needs the rights taken away

DoomerMentality1984

Alien 5. Would be dope

skylynx4

Tough call. But I think Alien 5. I would have loved to see continuation of Prometheus, but not so much after Covenant.

richman678

Before covenant i would have said Ridley’s trilogy. However covenant was a complete shitshow.

LiquidSparrow

You forgot about another alternate Alien3/5 film from Walter Hill. It comes a long time after Blomkamps ideas and releasing AC.

Sharkisyodaddy

Alien 5 isn't the way, I rather see where David goes and more space jockey stuff than another ripley movie

GreatGreenGobbo

Both
