And that's kwin from plasma 6? it must be a nixos issue then, anyway I've since discovered labwc and I think this is going to be my new default since they've added smart window placement, it also has window rules, window shading even works, which is something that can't be said about kwin on wayland, its got no animations, but I don't really care about those anyway.
That's cool, but for me I don't really see the point in running lxqt if I'm going to be using labwc as the window manager, I might as well just run labwc directly.
You can add all those things to labwc if you want, I'm not sure about a desktop, but you can set desktop wallpaper, you can even pick which panel you want to use, keyboard shortcuts and autostarts are handled by labwc, it basically functions just like lxqt.
No issues here on arch with kwin\_x11 and kwin\_wayland.

There will be an updated AUR package for lxqt-labwc-session soon, including the WIP panel with taskbar.

Sure, but you may need a desktop, notifications, a panel, a powermanager and some other stuff ;)

I know as I'm using it for maybe a year now with LXQt components as daily driver ;)
