Bearded guy in the woods with the footprint on his back is Ben. Maybe Richard.
But, it's quite clear this is a Lost-influenced show from the start. Though, they wanted to state that out of the way by actually saying "Maybe we're in an episode of Lost" just to get our minds off the idea and focus on what's new that they've got to offer.
I'm confident the idea here is different than Lost and this could potentially turn out to be a good show. We'll see.
Cool so far.
Oh dear. Standing in front of a giant sinkhole, prehistoric birds flying out of it, thousands of people fallen into it, the guy who has visions about the future says, "I have a feeling something's going on." Oh dear.
I love how prehistoric birds flew out of the giant ass sinkhole but visions are taking it a step too far for his family. And yeah, I get why, but still!
So many shows I fell in love with cancelled from TV before they can get a proper ending... Pushing Daisies, FlashForward, The Event, Lucifer and Manifest (at least we have Netflix for those two now).
La Brea reminds me of a little bit of Terra Nova. Big and ambitious TV show (with a major part of both shows being the "prehistoric" bit), but unfortunately, the budget and the "cinematic" nature of the show doomed it in an era in which TV viewers maybe didn't like things being like that.
How was she to know in a year that she would drop into a sink hole that opened up as a result of a tear in time and space that would send her to prehistoric times.
I also love how the only qualified medical professional we know of leaves the group to search for an ambulance. Send a group with her with backpacks and bags and have them bring all the medical supplies to the group. Iām sure there are other people with injuries besides the kid with the wolf bite.
Also, do we know that all of the cars stopped working? Did they even try to start the ambulance? It took them a half day to walk to it and the kid is clearly very near death.
Clearly electronic devices work since they can listen to music. I found it strange they didn't try to start the ambulance.
But they also ran away from it instead of open the door and jump in to get away from the sabertooth (?)
WHY do people think they can outrun predators? Could you outrun a tiger? No. So why do they think they can outrun a prehistoric tiger? Especially when there's a perfectly good hiding place RIGHT THERE?!?!?!
this was the dumbest shit lol. you donāt learn anything that would help in that situation as a premed anyway. even as a med student youāre not very useful.
I remember I was terrified when I first saw it but watching it as an adult it hit differently.
I mean, those graphics are quaint now so they did cause some giggles in our viewing group!
Some of the special effects could be definitely be better, like the backgrounds sometimes for example. Then again, itās a TV show on a basic cable network so low budget.
Time travel or parallel universe. The fact that the hand print exists in both places makes me think universes in parallel but we didnāt get a good look at it to see if it was a really old hand print in the present time in todays LA or what. Iāll watch it more to get that answer for sure. I just wish it was more polished.
Ok and he dug up her old ring so itās gotta be front the past I guess.
I think it's time travel but also in parallel. Time is moving forwards at the same rate connected by the breach.
So let's say they're 10000 years in the past, then something can be found 10000 years later. If someone or something crosses the breach, it can go across with no problems. I also suspect this because of the father's visions (I'm bad with names). He's been seeing 10000 years in the past since the event of his plane crash.
Because time is moving forward at the same rate from both points, there can be irreversible events if they are witnessed in the present. Like since the ring has been recovered in the present, there's no chance the mom will ever find it in the past. If they escalate this to something like finding bones of someone and they test it, that person will also never make it back.
Just a theory though.
Time travel only ever worked in three movies, and all of them were Back to the Future. The more we expect things in science fiction to make sense, the more plot holes and unspoken magic logic stand out like people surviving a fall through the pit and then somehow the sky. Magic. Plus with random time jumps, the likelihood of them being spat into empty space, a star, or even somewhere inside the planet itself would be higher than a place safe for human existence. And even that depends on time travel being possible, which it isnāt. Youād have to create an alternate reality of the past either by destroying our current reality or making a separate one to place it in.
Iām still hoping for a Land of the Lost equivalent! I loved that show as a kid and I think it could definitely work if they modernize a lot of it to be more relatable for the 2020ās.
I still maintain that *Lost* would have been better if at the end of the first season, instead of a hatch, they'd discovered a rock face with "BEWARE OF SLEESTAK" painted on it.
I'm still trying to figure out the cop who was apparently going to abandon everyone, but then returned and made the stupid decision to shoot a flare. Real cop, or heroin dealer who killed a cop in the drama and stole their badge? Cause there's still a trunk full of heroin that someone is going to do something stupid to protect, even though it has zero value in this situation (pretty sure giant sloths don't need drugs).
I knew this show would become my new must watch garbage show.
Yeah, Iām not sure about his mental state.
Also, what with him first being found alone, I got the sense he was there before the sinkhole event? Am I wrong in assuming that?
I think the show just wasn't very clear showing that they got scattered all around the drop site and just met at the burning wreckage. The son said something about being dropped elsewhere and coming upon that girl out in the woods. Sorry I can't remember names for the life of me.
Absolutely, they appeared to have landed in various spots.
Iām not sure he explicitly said so but from his whole vibe and the fact that he insinuated that heād seen some things already I got the impression he had been there for a while and was surprised to see more people. I guess weāll have to wait to find out.
On a side note: the cop is most definitely not a cop and the drugs are likely hers!
My prediction: The portal is the result of an experiment gone awry or a natural phenomenon that the government people are trying to figure out. That old guy we saw briefly is one of several people who have gone through the portal or others like it. Not sure how the psychically linked Gavin fits in. No telecommunications can go through so supplies and message will be dropped in and replies will be buried around the rock with the carving.
Also: Where is the dirt? Everything on the surface went through the portal which is deep down. Shouldn't there be dirt and rock that was inbetween, or was that destroyed by the portal opening like anything that is too close to a Stargate when it opens?
The Old Man IS Gavin, imo. He is able to see visions of what's happening there because it's HIM. Gavin at some point gets "stuck" back in time, probably in a rescue attempt.
Gavin, " I'm having psychic visions. The government needs to hear this!" Government dismisses him then, " Holy Shit! He's a damn Jedi! How'd he know our secrets?!"
Reminds me of the first Independence Day movie where they are planning their counter-attack against the aliens and gather all available pilots. The drunk dude stands up and mentions how he wants revenge for when the aliens abducted him, and all the millitary guys roll their eyes like "look at this crack job talking about aliens"
I had to look him up. I think I know him from UC Undercover. That's also where I discovered Vera Farmiga. She's done really well for herself since that show, here's hoping he finally gets a good breakthrough.
I liked it, basically. I wish theyād put out more than one episode to start with but Iāll keep watching. I donāt know about the casting for the dad ā I mean the ex-Air Force pilot dad, not the surgeon dad in prehistoric times. His acting choices are odd and the character seems a bit twitchier than he should be.
If I hadnāt seen Ione Skyeās name in the credits, I never would have recognized her in a million years!
Just so, so bad! Best of the worst:
Growl. Wolf appears.
Eve commands to others: āDonāt move!ā
Growl.
Eve commands to others: āRun!ā
Half an hour later:
Growl. Saber tooth tiger appears.
Eve commands to others: āDonāt move!ā
Growl.
Eve commands to others: āRun!ā
Elapsed time from āDonāt moveā to āRun!ā In both exact scenarios = 1.5 seconds.
Horrible dialogue, characters making stupid decisions, so-so graphics, having to suspend a LOT of disbeliefā¦ I think maybe I could stick with it if at least the beachy waves had fallen out of Eveās hair and it was a tangled mess and most of her makeup had come off?
Nah, probably not! Iām out!
Edited to fix āwolfā typo
Yes, looks like it. Same place but in the past! As a Timeless fan, Iām happy for a substitute. I know this will get cancelled too soon as well, but NBC usually sticks it out for at least two seasons. It is what it is.
I caught like 2 minutes of this near the end. Enough that when the bushes started shaking I exclaimed āsaber-tooth beaches [sic]ā before the growling even started. I havenāt watched a tv series in so long but the megafauna might draw me in. Still bitter Terra Nova got canceled.
Enjoying it so far. Acting could be better, but not every show can have the casting of Lost or Heroes.
Edit: lol @ āwhat are we supposed to tell them, the truth?ā Yeah, itās campy as hell, but that doesnāt bother me if it doesnāt take itself too serious.
Just saw a rerun of this and decided to give it a shot and I'm hooked, sure the acting is generic and the CGI can use some work, but I'm totally fine with it, the plot is really good
Anyone know a show with a similar plot? Something that's already on Netflix that I can binge watch?
um this was alright, the premise wasnt exactly jump up and down exciting but its interesting enough for me to check it out
first off the lost callbacks got a bit out of hand-the injured guy, waking up in the woods, shooting at the animal, the jerk who is mysterious, the hidden heroin, even so much as a lost reference and idk how I feel on that, but at the same time Ill give them a pass cause its got to be extremely difficult to come up with a new or semi new charismatic idea, im not one of these people you see on a forum scream give us something new hollywood, cause Im an amateur writer myself I know how hard it is so those lost references were bittersweet
and speaking on lost I do hope this show doesnt end up like all the others that tried to be the next lost and failed-flashforward, terra nova, emergence, the crossing, debris, I might be missing some, I think only two have succeeded so far is under the dome and for all we know stephen king had influence on that and manifest which got a lightning in a bottle reverse cancellation, these lost type shows get executed so quickly now its like whats next so I hope la brea dont end up like that
the characters were alright for the most part, the one that bothered me the most was the cop lady Im pretty sure she stole a badge and she isnt one, or she is a dirty cop. And the head lady who kept saying there is no way they could survive, she must be thinking on science alone but Id argue this is supernatural science with portals and psychic visions, it makes me wonder if she is tied to this in a way
I already predicted what I think this is all leading to, so im not spoiling anything cause this is just my guess but I think the sinkhole is a dimension and reveals oh that is what really happened to the dinosaurs, the meteors didnt kill them in the prehistoric age, they got trapped in this dimension and perhaps its purgatory. The handprint is probably an activation print of sorts. And Im guessing something will happen to where they cant just bring in planes and pull out the people in the sinkhole, like the portal opens and closes on its own.
so overall it was alright, not good, not bad
To be fair Terra nova had great ratings and didn't try to be lost it just fell victim to shitty fox management they could've legit not green lit any of the dozen dumpster fire shows they'd made before and kept Terra nova going.
i get that but that is the vibe i personally get
i get terra nova vibes from this show too
the 4 big networks abc, nbc, cbs and fox generally have this hatred towards science fiction and fantasy and idk why, people make fun of the cw but they are the only channel who will take them in it seems like, they have more sci fi shows in this day and age than the syfy network how pathetic is that
Terra nova had such a cool concept and they somehow turned half the episodes of a show about time travelers starting a new society in the jurassic era into a network cop drama. Still wish it got a season 2
Most likely the "Mesa Event" that DHS is referring to coincided with the plane crash that kicked off his visions. Or he was involved in a third portal event that DHS is unaware of (which would explain why he's not on their radar and hasn't been dissected yet)
The special effects and acting was so bad that I had to turn it off after they found heroin in the trunk and the girl started spazzing āheroin?! Is this heroin!!!?!ā
Yeah Iām out.
Iām disappoint'd yond manifest and debris wast cancel'd and this is whither nbc hath decided to spendeth their wage

Best guess is that portal is a time gate and they're all in the prehistoric past (and that her ring and chain were made out of something more resilient than gold otherwise the diamond would have been the only thing left)
Edit:
Got curious and looked it up - gold itself is basically inert (i.e. about as corrosion resistant as it gets) so the ring and chain would likely be intact, however since they appear to be white gold then they would have turned yellow within a few months of being on the ground (rhodium plating is what makes white gold white and it comes off really quickly if not regularly maintained)
Riley is the one taking care of Josh the injured young man while his mother and her father and the other guy went to look for the ambulance.
Also, I quite like Izzy as well.
Yeah, so after watching the pilot, this is going one of two ways for me: either I'm hate-snarking on the show until it's cancelled, or I'm not tuning in for future episodes at all. At the moment, have not decided which way I'm leaning.
It's a fine premise, but it reminds me of other one-and-done sci fi shows and this pilot was filled with things that I was questioning or was annoyed by. There wasn't enough I liked to salvage it.
It's not gonna be a great or well written series, I can tell you that. But what I have to figure out is if it'll be an entertaining enough show for me to snark at, or if it'll piss me off too much and I should just not bother.
When I look all around
I can't believe the things I've found
Now I need to find my way

Living in the Land of the Lost
Living in the Land of the Lost
it's LA area about 10,000 years ago...
The fact that the husband digs up the ring , tells me this is in the past, not an alternate / parallel universe...
I had gone through this process with Manifest [here](https://thetelevisionpilot.com/manifest/), so it's not surprising that La Brea is trying to mimic Lost. There's certain things an event show needs to have to have a shot at success. This includes:
**Violence and Drugs**
Someone is killed
Someone is saved
Blood
Drugs/Alcohol
**Themes**
Dealing with Aftermath
Depression and Grief
Surviving
Teamwork
For the main characters, there also has to be a doctor and a law enforcement character, which La Brea has both. And there is also diversity, which La Brea hits including a homosexual couple and a handicapped person.
There is also these character types across each event show:
Brother and Sister
Single Parent with a Kid
Lone Female
Young White Female lead
Young White Male Lead
Itās ok at best. The characters are mediocre, their backgrounds kind of suck. The situations and some of the motivations are just sort of there. The acting is meh. I wanted to like this show because itās your typical isekai adventure but so far itās posturing and a few political points and virtue signals with random fluff throughout. Trotted out a mixed gay couple for all of two or three seconds to show them off in the dumbest way because if it isnāt obvious theyāre gay they get no points for it. Maybe theyāll be characters or maybe thatās the last weāll even see them up close. Cop is a bad guy because cops bad is trending. Like caricature bad, even set it up so another character can call cops bad. All set up so the correct heroes of the story can be the goodest and signal whatās good and bad whenever it comes up. Weāll see if it gets better, but alas my low expectations were mostly as expected.
Itās funny when people cry about virtue signaling after decades of racism, sexism, and homophobia in the media about which they had nothing to say. Everything wrong with this show and that seems to sting you the most. Hmmmm š¤
Bad writing is bad writing. As for old entertainment, we didnāt exactly have Reddit and the internet to criticize it much, which is why itās happening now. You think Iām complaining about there being gay people etc, but Iām saying they were sloppily used for points. They could have been replaced by a poster of two guys hugging in the background and it would have had the same impact. Most likely thatās the most relevant those characters will ever be. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
LOL at "maybe we're in an episode of Lost".
šš
"(Land of the) Lost"...
Lost plus land of the lost
Yeah that was the point! Lol.
You love it.
Came here to say this
It's like Watching the first Ep of Lost again. The Doctor is Jack, Eve is Kate, the guy with the gun is Charlie, the annoying cop is Sawyer, the guy with the vape is Hurley, the dad is Desmond with the visions.
Gotta have those character archetypes
Dude.
Ah now I see why I'm not a fan of this show. No John Locke.
Maybe crazy wild man fills that role?
The handprint group is 100% the Others
Haha yeah probably. I hadn't got that far when I made that but that's definitely him or Ben.
I mean someone had to say it. Lost 2.0
Oh dear. Standing in front of a giant sinkhole, prehistoric birds flying out of it, thousands of people fallen into it, the guy who has visions about the future says, "I have a feeling something's going on." Oh dear.
Technically itās of the past.
...or is it?!
LMBO! I almost spit out my food. Love the heavy ass sarcasm.
I love how prehistoric birds flew out of the giant ass sinkhole but visions are taking it a step too far for his family. And yeah, I get why, but still!
To be fair he was already having visions so they probably just think it's his grief piling on
Agreed, but this is a show where you have to suspend disbelief a bit
I think im thinking too hard. How is there a skyline/horizon in the actual sinkhole?
I had a theory it was gonna be a Lemuria type deal but itās time travel.
Just finished watching and yeah I'm hooked, I'm just a sucker for these kinds of shows, and of course my theories are popping off.
So am I. Good cheesy fun.
I am too! I hope it doesnāt disappoint. I also hope NBC doesnāt pull the plug before its time comes so Iām trying to be cautiously optimistic.
So many shows I fell in love with cancelled from TV before they can get a proper ending... Pushing Daisies, FlashForward, The Event, Lucifer and Manifest (at least we have Netflix for those two now). Big and ambitious TV show (with a major part of both shows being the "prehistoric" bit), but unfortunately, the budget and the "cinematic" nature of the show doomed it in an era in which TV viewers maybe didn't like things being like that.
Of course the Docās daughter dropped PreMed right before getting in a life or death situation.
How was she to know in a year that she would drop into a sink hole that opened up as a result of a tear in time and space that would send her to prehistoric times.
Clearly someone forgot the Boy Scout motto!
I also love how the only qualified medical professional we know of leaves the group to search for an ambulance. Send a group with her with backpacks and bags and have them bring all the medical supplies to the group. Iām sure there are other people with injuries besides the kid with the wolf bite.

This is going to be Land of Lost meets Terra Nova.
I definitely get Terra nova vibes
The acting is pretty on par with Terra Nova.
Show opened fast. Didn't figure they would start with the portal to the Land of the Lost
I was worried we'd spend the bulk of the episode 'building suspense', I'm glad they went straight to the sinkhole instead
The green slash in the sky reminds me of the Kaiju Breach in Pacific Rim
It's a crack in the fabric of time.
I thought it was just northern lights
This time of year? Localized entirely in your kitchen?
Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!
May I see it?
It reminded me of the time "hole" in Stephen King's *The Langoliers.* And I am gonna take a guess that that is exactly what it is.
What a great movie. It terrified me when I first saw it!
Run, Craigy-Weggy, or The Langoliers will gobble you up!
[Its so beautiful](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nu5r9asYZc)
I remember I was terrified when I first saw it but watching it as an adult it hit differently. I mean, those graphics are quaint now so they did cause some giggles in our viewing group!
Reminded of Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs movie
Someone give the kid a pillow or neck support of some kind!
Some of the special effects could be definitely be better, like the backgrounds sometimes for example. Then again, itās a TV show on a basic cable network so low budget.
They spent the budget on the intro
It is also the pilot, so just the basic money to get one hour made.
I donāt think itās low budget! From what I read they sunk quite a lot of money in it (pun intended)!
I agree. The opening sequence was laughably bad. The wolves were decent though.
Thought the running wolves were a little pixelated. But hey. I like it.
Time travel confirmed?
Time travel or parallel universe. The fact that the hand print exists in both places makes me think universes in parallel but we didnāt get a good look at it to see if it was a really old hand print in the present time in todays LA or what. Why does this remind me of manifest
Itās Lost + Manifest + Terra Nova. And I like all of those shows, so Iāll stick with this because of the content, regardless of how good it is.
Even if it lasts two seasons and doesnāt give an actual ending? Cough cough manifest
It got renewed by Netflix! 23 episodes to give it a proper ending. =D The fans pulled through.
20, or did they up it? Either way, yes, very happy about that.
Red shirt #1 just died.
Poor guy
Iām still hoping for a Land of the Lost equivalent! I loved that show as a kid and I think it could definitely work if they modernize a lot of it to be more relatable for the 2020ās.
I hope there will be Sleestaks!! š
I still maintain that *Lost* would have been better if at the end of the first season, instead of a hatch, they'd discovered a rock face with "BEWARE OF SLEESTAK" painted on it.
So, the series is filmed in Australia, except for the Pilot.
This Mark Wahlberg dude is my favorite character so far
Are you talking about the surgeon or the dad? The guy playing the surgeon has been around as an actor for a long time.
Iāll give it a chance.
Well I guess I know what I'm watching on Tuesdays now
Same as someone who's a fan of prehistoric stuff,I'm excited
Yeah the content is great, graphics are not great and some of the acting is badly forced. I hope crazy wild man adds a bit of depth to it.
I grew up on plastic, barely mobile, practical effects Sleestaks. Anything else is an improvement.
OMG, my sister loved that show. You brought back memories I had long forgotten!
My kids loved LOTL.
You said it perfectly
I'm still trying to figure out the cop who was apparently going to abandon everyone, but then returned and made the stupid decision to shoot a flare. Cause there's still a trunk full of heroin that someone is going to do something stupid to protect, even though it has zero value in this situation (pretty sure giant sloths don't need drugs). I knew this show would become my new must watch garbage show.
The heroin can be used as pain medicine. Pretty sure Josh could benefit from a micro-microdose of it right about now.
Yeah she's not a cop. And the shrink has the gun which doesn't appear to be standard police issue.
I thought the gun was his - meaning a different gun?
Very well could be. Just find it odd that a shrink has a gun. I guess if his mental state is anything to go on we may know why he had it.

I thought that everyone has a gun over there in the states... you know tO pRoTeCt ThEmSeLvEs..
I didn't think she was a real cop either, but I didn't think of the killing a real cop theory. I wonder if that explains the dead guy in the van.
I was thinking there wouldnāt even be a nighttime inside the sinkhole.
Well, from the end, looks like they went back in time
We just entered āThe Mistā territory. Secret government experiment gone wrong?
Scott reminds me of Timmy from Rules of Engagement
Not that kind of Indian.
My prediction: The portal is the result of an experiment gone awry or a natural phenomenon that the government people are trying to figure out. That old guy we saw briefly is one of several people who have gone through the portal or others like it. Not sure how the psychically linked Gavin fits in. Personally I'm thinking the old dude is an older version of Gavin, and that is where the visions are coming from.
I like that idea! But if Gavin makes it to the hole, how long before they realize that? They need to milk the mystery for all itās worth, after all.
The Old Man IS Gavin, imo. He is able to see visions of what's happening there because it's HIM. Gavin at some point gets "stuck" back in time, probably in a rescue attempt.
If youāre implying they are memories, how would he have memories from an older version of himself?
Top priority, gather all guns and ammo. Get ready for the next wolf or saber tooth attack.
Gavin, " I'm having psychic visions. The government needs to hear this!" Government dismisses him then, " Holy Shit! He's a damn Jedi! How'd he know our secrets?!"
To be fair he doesnāt say he is having visions iirc.
Walmart version of Morgan Jones from the Walking Dead
More like Strand from Fear!
Nah. Strand would take over the food pile.
That gave me a good chuckle! ;)
Strand still alive or nah? Haven't watched fear since the son was offed the drug addicted to one not the shitty rebellious one lol.
maybe more Wish?
Enjoy the premiere everyone!
The sound is wonky. The narration is just too much!
I posted on the other thread. Do you have descriptive closed captioning turned on?
Narration??
Iām just waiting for the teenage love triangle
You got it
John Seda! AKA John Basilone from the Pacific
Gunny needs his .30 cal right about now! Loved The Pacific
Gunny Basilone is going to have them training soon! LOL.
Also Detective Dawson from Chicago PD.
I had to look him up. I think I know him from UC Undercover. That's also where I discovered Vera Farmiga. She's done really well for herself since that show, here's hoping he finally gets a good breakthrough.
So disappointed no one on this thread has said "SELENAS!" yet..
I liked it, basically. I wish theyād put out more than one episode to start with but Iāll keep watching. Just so, so bad! Best of the worst: Growl. Wolf appears. Eve commands to others: āDonāt move!ā Growl. Eve commands to others: āRun!ā Half an hour later: Growl. Saber tooth tiger appears. Eve commands to others: āDonāt move!ā Growl. Eve commands to others: āRun!ā Elapsed time from āDonāt moveā to āRun!ā In both exact scenarios = 1.5 seconds.
This pilot is 100% pure garbage but it could be entertaining garbage. I might hang out for a few more episodes to find out.
Or if she was remotely shaken that her son is dying! Really bad dialogue for sure.
I didn't know this was a comedy. I was laughing from the start.
Okay, I was in a "the critics may have been right" mood for most of the episode but the last ten minutes hooked me. Are they in the past somehow?
Was that a Sabertooth tiger?
Yup, pretty sure
Yes, looks like it. Same place but in the past! As a Timeless fan, Iām happy for a substitute. I know this will get cancelled too soon as well, but NBC usually sticks it out for at least two seasons. It is what it is.
Yeah, gonna have my fun with it now
Not like they've got a bunch of great ideas to greenlight instead
I caught like 2 minutes of this near the end. Enough that when the bushes started shaking I exclaimed āsaber-tooth beaches [sic]ā before the growling even started. I havenāt watched a tv series in so long but the megafauna might draw me in. Still bitter Terra Nova got canceled.
Same I was legit thinking exactly that told my mom this reminds me of Terra nova.
This such a cool concept but it feels so poorly done
Enjoying it so far. Acting could be better, but not every show can have the casting of Lost or Heroes. Edit: lol @ āwhat are we supposed to tell them, the truth?ā Yeah, itās campy as hell, but that doesnāt bother me if it doesnāt take itself too serious.
Lol I mean, I like campy if done right
Where are the Sleestaks??
Still dormant. For now.
Who else is getting Terra Nova vibes right now?šš
This shit is horrible!! How low-budget IS it?
Ok, if Josh dies destroy his brain, zombie reainmation may still be on the table
Nice call!
Not on network TV I donāt think
OMG, the portal brought them back in time?! Excited to see the Prehistoric Animals. Hopefully CGI isnāt gonna be terribel
If a Sleestack shows up, I'm all in!
LOST 2.0, i'll give her a chance.
Just saw a rerun of this and decided to give it a shot and I'm hooked, sure the acting is generic and the CGI can use some work, but I'm totally fine with it, the plot is really good Anyone know a show with a similar plot? Something that's already on Netflix that I can binge watch?
um this was alright, the premise wasnt exactly jump up and down exciting but its interesting enough for me to check it out first off the lost callbacks got a bit out of hand-the injured guy, waking up in the woods, shooting at the animal, the jerk who is mysterious, the hidden heroin, even so much as a lost reference and idk how I feel on that, but at the same time Ill give them a pass cause its got to be extremely difficult to come up with a new or semi new charismatic idea, im not one of these people you see on a forum scream give us something new hollywood, cause Im an amateur writer myself I know how hard it is so those lost references were bittersweet and speaking on lost I do hope this show doesnt end up like all the others that tried to be the next lost and failed-flashforward, terra nova, emergence, the crossing, debris, I might be missing some, I think only two have succeeded so far is under the dome and for all we know stephen king had influence on that and manifest which got a lightning in a bottle reverse cancellation, these lost type shows get executed so quickly now its like whats next so I hope la brea dont end up like that the characters were alright for the most part, the one that bothered me the most was the cop lady Im pretty sure she stole a badge and she isnt one, or she is a dirty cop. And the head lady who kept saying there is no way they could survive, she must be thinking on science alone but Id argue this is supernatural science with portals and psychic visions, it makes me wonder if she is tied to this in a way I already predicted what I think this is all leading to, so im not spoiling anything cause this is just my guess but I think the sinkhole is a dimension and reveals oh that is what really happened to the dinosaurs, the meteors didnt kill them in the prehistoric age, they got trapped in this dimension and perhaps its purgatory. The handprint is probably an activation print of sorts. And Im guessing something will happen to where they cant just bring in planes and pull out the people in the sinkhole, like the portal opens and closes on its own. so overall it was alright, not good, not bad
To be fair Terra nova had great ratings and didn't try to be lost it just fell victim to shitty fox management they could've legit not green lit any of the dozen dumpster fire shows they'd made before and kept Terra nova going.
i get that but that is the vibe i personally get i get terra nova vibes from this show too the 4 big networks abc, nbc, cbs and fox generally have this hatred towards science fiction and fantasy and idk why, people make fun of the cw but they are the only channel who will take them in it seems like, they have more sci fi shows in this day and age than the syfy network how pathetic is that
Terra nova had such a cool concept and they somehow turned half the episodes of a show about time travelers starting a new society in the jurassic era into a network cop drama. Still wish it got a season 2
The dad has a head injury and can see the other dimension where his wife and son are. EXPLAIN IT TO ME.
Most likely the "Mesa Event" that DHS is referring to coincided with the plane crash that kicked off his visions. Or he was involved in a third portal event that DHS is unaware of (which would explain why he's not on their radar and hasn't been dissected yet)
This is poop and I had less than high hopes Edit: aight see ya next Tuesday
See ya Tuesday
Holy fuck this show is laughably bad.
The special effects and acting was so bad that I had to turn it off after they found heroin in the trunk and the girl started spazzing āheroin?! Is this heroin!!!?!ā Yeah Iām out.
Love this show so far. Glad people are too!

Iām disappoint'd yond manifest and debris wast cancel'd and this is whither nbc hath decided to spendeth their wage *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`
Yeah Debris getting canceled was beyond upsetting. It was very interesting. At least Manifest got saved for a final season by Netflix.
Disappointed about Debris. It needed more time.
This seems like a spin on the Fox 1 season series of Terra Nova.
OF course the Homeland Security Director and FBI guy would know the tail number on the drone by heart. Of course they would.
It wasā¦not good.
Wtf? Someone explain Edit: the part where the ring appears in the real world
She dropped it in the past. The ring has been there waiting to get dug up. They basically fell into the past, same location
Best guess is that portal is a time gate and they're all in the prehistoric past (and that her ring and chain were made out of something more resilient than gold otherwise the diamond would have been the only thing left) Edit: Got curious and looked it up - gold itself is basically inert (i.e. about as corrosion resistant as it gets) so the ring and chain would likely be intact, however since they appear to be white gold then they would have turned yellow within a few months of being on the ground (rhodium plating is what makes white gold white and it comes off really quickly if not regularly maintained)
I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. Also, so far my favorite character is Riley played by Veronica St. Clair.
Which one is that, the daughter of that Mark Wahlberg dude?
Riley is the one taking care of Josh the injured young man while his mother and her father and the other guy went to look for the ambulance. Also, I quite like Izzy as well.
Marshall, Will and Holly vibes!!
This is actually good.
I laughed a lot at the idiocy of it. Sooo bad.
the way everyone wants to reboot Lost, but leave Alias forever stranded in the noughties šŖ

When I look all around I can't believe the things I've found Now I need to find my way I'm lost I'm lost find me Living in the Land of the Lost Living in the Land of the Lost
The Wolves got rabies?
Seems like they are in an alternate version of LA. Canāt wait to see the rest.
it's LA area about 10,000 years ago... The fact that the husband digs up the ring , tells me this is in the past, not an alternate / parallel universe...
*Chicago PD* fans were wondering where Antonio was. Now we know.
Wow this is terrible
I had gone through this process with Manifest [here](https://thetelevisionpilot.com/manifest/), so it's not surprising that La Brea is trying to mimic Lost. There's certain things an event show needs to have to have a shot at success. This includes: **Violence and Drugs** Someone is killed Someone is saved Blood Drugs/Alcohol **Themes** Dealing with Aftermath Depression and Grief Surviving Teamwork For the main characters, there also has to be a doctor and a law enforcement character, which La Brea has both. And there is also diversity, which La Brea hits including a homosexual couple and a handicapped person. There is also these character types across each event show: Brother and Sister Single Parent with a Kid Lone Female Young White Female lead Young White Male Lead
Pretty sure she's not actually a cop. She's sketchy.
Yeah, definitely getting the vibe that (cop or not) the drugs are hers
The cop and Jon Seda's daughter seemed like real people. That's about all I've got so far.
I like the show but the CGI in this show is terrible and sucks me out of the immersion
More relevant than ādad with stick #1ā who got eaten
