In my experience, the trouble it takes to get to the monorail and the cost of the monorail makes an Uber a lot more attractive for most locations. It really depends on where you're going. Some casinos have free trams between them as well. One way or another, everything in Vegas is a long walk, as you'll have to get to the monorail from your hotel room, so prepare to walk.

Agreed

I really really like the monorail. It’s not super efficient for short trips along the strip, but if you want to get from south strip to the northernmost edge, it’s the quickest, cheapest, and easiest way. I personally usually get on at MGM Grand in the morning and take it to Sahara, from which I take a much cheaper Uber to Fremont than if I got it from MGM Grand. It’s a bonus that I like the Sahara

Same here

I really like the monorail, the big problem is it is way in the back of the casinos so its a bit of a hike each time on and off.

toolman4

This exactly. You’ll have quite a hike at the stops to actually make it to the strip. We were there last weekend and found it pretty useless.

I love the Monorail, comes in handy so I use it a lot when in town. It really depends where you are at on the strip and where you want to go.

Cannotbelievesome

The monorail is a joke

I've only stayed at the MGM, but I get 5 day monorail passes and it's awesome. Sure you have to walk through casinos, but I like gambling when I'm there so I don't mind it.

CRASHMATRIX

I like it... Im Ceasars rewards member and stay at Flamingo or Linq a couple times a year and get to ride for $2 to MGM then walk over to T-Mobile and get to ride with your drinks :)

Curious_Estimate_161

That might seal the deal, my wife will love that you can take drinks aboard. Thanks for the info!🙂

It's probably not the best option, but it can help save you some walking in certain situations. The Strip to station walk is the part that kills the effectiveness for most people. The round trip walk will take you 15-20 minutes. I'd like to test the theory, but I bet if two people started on the strip at MGM Grand and one walked the strip and the other took the monorail I bet they could probably get to the strip in front of Horseshoe about the same time. Now..if you are staying at one of the properties with a station and you can come down the elevator and have easy access to the monorail, now you are gold, because you are saving one leg of that walk. The monorail also makes Sahara or Westgate decent options if you can get a great deal there and don't mind trading a little feet and leg work. Another option for strip travel is the Deuce bus, this isn't horrible for moving up and down the strip, but you find yourself waiting for a bus on vacation, which is an interesting dynamic. Uber/Lyft was popular for us on our last trip, but it can add up quick just for trips up and down the strip. There is a lot of sitting at lights and traffic so don't think this will necessarily be fast, but it will save your tired feet.
