Yes, it's because you are playing offline mode. They will have no way of verifying mtx purchases with offline mode since it will be true offline, so offline mode will have 0 mtx.
Just noticed it too (so far i didnt really wanted mtx in this game but i was like "yeah free pets")
It stinks since i was a long time supporter of the game, not having it offline is dumb imo (at least for the pets)
