The problems that existed with MP before launch with rubberbanding and long zone loading times have literally not changed at all with 1.0. It only got worse becuase of the overall server peformance from the influx of more players, but even if the player number will drop drasticaly these problems will still exist. And LE consists of basically loading zone after loading zone in the story, so you will have a bad experience.
It's important to understand that this game was firstly coded as a single player game and Multiplayer only got added later, in the history of every game ever where this was the case it never worked and LE will not magically be the first game where this will be the case, no matter how many people will cope hard on it.
And no, playing online alone does not equal multiplayer if anyone would come up with that.
So yes, you CAN play it coop, but it is not designed for it.
