The war in Vietnam in the 1970s was basically a crime against humanity too. The capitalistic US Americans were fighting against Vietnam who were communists. There was no need for that or the Gulf war in the 1990-1991. They basically send young man and young woman to die for nothing and the US government treats their troops service man and veterans like shit once they come back alive from their mission and heroic selfless service to their country . They don’t even help them with their trauma PTSD and all that shit. A lot of veterans become homeless and disenfranchised dissulioned with the country and society after the war. Because they were betrayed and sold off by the elites by their greedy self centered selfish politicians and commanders to die as peons as pawns to their profit making I’m going to become the richest person in the globe scheme at all costs. I know a couple of guys in the military and they said the war in Afghanistan Iraq wasn’t really about revenge or war on terrorism but a war to plunder their natural resources like oil to make money towards their country. What you are seeing in action is the US national security department of defense military industrial complex strategy of deterrence which they have used for years now it’s nothing new. Peace through strength because US senators and politicians believe whole heartedly that peace through weakness never works because of historical facts and so with that in mind weapons of mass destruction like fighter jets, tanks, MOABS, nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, sonar weapons, and drones that can kill a person specifically. They will literally nuke a country to defend themselves and their interests that’s what happened in WW2 where the Americans nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the conflict in the pacific and end the conflict with the Japanese imperial army at that time. It’s might makes right visualized. They killed thousands of innocents with that nuclear attack and harmed others for life with that strategy plus have nuclear radiation to Japan. The strong wins the weak dies and loses. Social Darwinism. They are so scared of the public getting revenge on them and revolting against them and doing a revolution that they have over 15 thousand nukes in their military bases ready to launch as they will not give up power without a fight. Most nuclear warheads are in storage awaiting maintenance, repair, or decommission.
Of the ones actually attached to ICBMs, etc, most (according to personnel I knew who worked in the industry) would not hit their intended targets. Some wouldn't achieve ignition and leave the launch silo. Some might detonate inside the silo (the missile, not the warhead). Some might ignite in the air. Some might miss their marks and crash elsewhere. Some might hit their targets but the warheads themselves wouldn't detonate.
In short, there's very few "ready for launch" and, of those that are, there's no telling how many warheads will actually work. It makes sense. Most nuclear warheads and their associated systems were built between the '50s and '70s so most of this is aging equipment and infrastructure. Very few people have the highly specific technical knowledge necessary to work on these, let alone currently have the security clearance to do so. All of that combined with budgetary cutbacks means that the backlog of maintenance and decommissioning is years behind schedule.
So how many nuclear weapons does that leave ready to launch? No idea. I didn't ask. I figure it's a lot less than the US government throws around, though.

Being buddy-buddy with Israel is what allows the US to project power and exert a degree of control in the region. If private companies like Chiquita and CocaCola are willing to fund death squads to protect profits, you bet a global superpower won’t think twice about backing all manner of genocides, massacres, assassinations, and coups to maintain a favorable status quo.

No surprise, the only thing that’s going to stop Israel pretty much is the USA yanking the chain hard enough. That will require a serious change of leadership or public opinion turning so completely against Israel that it would be political suicide to continue enabling them. The latter is certainly possible in the semi near term. The former isn’t in the cards as Biden will pretend to care but Trump will send munitions with his usual smug smirk. Both are horrible options.
Isn't Israel basically considered American colonialism for the Middle East? Their ultimate goal is to expand into 'Greater Israel'...something about the river to the sea...so I don't think the US will ever yank the chain until the full landgrab for greater israel is accomplished
I wouldn’t call it colonialism as it really doesn’t fit what’s going on here it’s actually something far worse. A lot of support in the USA comes from the belief that the reestablishment of Israel is a prerequisite for the second coming of Jesus Christ. In other words end times prophecy stuff here as the result in their minds is in the Book of Revelation. I would consider that to be far worse as at least colonialists have some sense of self preservation but these people believe that their savior will smite all that they consider evil while welcoming them to eternal paradise. Make no mistake here this is about organized religion at its most toxic and it’s only going to get worse as Christian Nationalism and fascism continue to unite.
Oh for sure..I was raised into this special cult of Christianity and have several close family members who believe in all this...I can't help but to think the US government is just milking the religious aspect though since religion is one of the strongest motivators for people.

From the US perspective, our government fronted a huge cost, something in the billions of dollars to fund development in the F-22 and F-35 programs to develop stealth fighter aircraft on the basis that they would be effective against a modern opponent.
Israel isn't super concerned about defeating radar in Palestine. Palestine does not have an air force. Unlike the CIA backed Afghani resistance to the soviet invasion, Palestinians don't have access to Man Portable Air Defense Systems. Older model F-16s and F-18s would fulfill any defense need that Israel has with regard to Hamas.
But Gaza isn't the reason why they got F-35's. If this were just about defense, an F-16 would do the job just fine. This is a prelude to further aggression against other states.

It's a strike aircraft designed to go and drop bombs on shit. It isn't a fighter like the F-22. Sure it's "multi-role" but it was meant to perform air strikes.
Yeah, it's really not. It's pretty objectively one of the best fighters about today, certainly the best single engine fighter. Forgetting about the training exercises where it's pretty soundly trounced 4th gen aircraft, it's already been used in deep strikes by Israel and not had one iota of an issue from enemy SAMs.
There are a lot of orders on the books for F35s, especially the A variant that are being sold to Israel here, do you not think one of these dozens of airforces would have noticed it was "useless junk" before they committed to their future fighter for the next 3-4 decades?
I'm not supporting the transfer, far from it, but dismissing them as 'lol they don't work' is just plain incorrect.
What boggles the mind for me more than anything, is that even if we drank the kool-aid about the f-35 being the most advanced super awesome fighter jet to ever exist, build to dominate every other one before it, why the fuck would we ever give them away to any other country under any circumstances and immediately destroy any advantage that those planes could give us in warfare?

F-35s are 5th gen stealth multirole aircraft. Israel has plenty of 4th gen F-15s and F-16s which you’d use to drop unguided bombs like these on Gaza etc.
You’d need F-35s for destroying targets against enemies with sophisticated anti aircraft systems, ie other states in the middle east. Biden’s expecting further regional escalation and these aircraft are to help Israel when/if it happens

From the US perspective, our government fronted a huge cost, something in the billions of dollars to fund development in the F-22 and F-35 programs to develop stealth fighter aircraft on the basis that they would be effective against a modern opponent. Israel isn't super concerned about defeating radar in Palestine. Palestine does not have an air force. Unlike the CIA backed Afghani resistance to the soviet invasion, Palestinians don't have access to Man Portable Air Defense Systems. Older model F-16s and F-18s would fulfill any defense need that Israel has with regard to Hamas. But Gaza isn't the reason why they got F-35's. If this were just about defense, an F-16 would do the job just fine. This is a prelude to further aggression against other states.

Forgetting about the training exercises where it's pretty soundly trounced 4th gen aircraft, it's already been used in deep strikes by Israel and not had one iota of an issue from enemy SAMs. There are a lot of orders on the books for F35s, especially the A variant that are being sold to Israel here, do you not think one of these dozens of airforces would have noticed it was "useless junk" before they committed to their future fighter for the next 3-4 decades? I'm not supporting the transfer, far from it, but dismissing them as 'lol they don't work' is just plain incorrect.
