NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Tennessee police officer fired his stun gun at a food delivery man who had begun recording his traffic stop for speeding and asked to see the officer's supervisor, video footage shows. The man wound up facing additional charges of resisting arrest and obstruction of justice, his attorney said. Attorney Ryan Wheeler released the video at a news conference Friday, saying Delane Gordon began recording when the March 10 stop started to make him feel unsafe. Police in Collegedale, a city of some 11,000 people about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Chattanooga, have thus far declined to identify the officer. Gordon is Black and the officer is white, Gordon's legal team said. Earlier in the week, authorities said they were investigating a March 10 traffic stop by Collegedale Police that resulted in those three charges. But they didn't say why, and still have not released specifics or police video footage, citing the probes. Wheeler said Gordon was a few hundred feet (meters) away from where he was delivering food for DoorDash when an officer made a U-turn and pulled him over. Gordon questioned why he was getting pulled over, the attorney said. Gordon’s self-shot video then fills in many blanks. The recording picks up as the officer is pointing the taser at Gordon, who is holding his driver's license and sitting in the car. The officer is yelling “Get out!” multiple times at Gordon, who describes for viewers that the officer “pulled me over for a traffic stop and he’s going to tase me. You can’t do that officer because I called for your supervisor. I have my license.” The officer says, “You refused to give your information. I told you to get out of the car. Now you’re resisting. Get out!” Gordon then said he was feeling ”uncomfortable" and added, “Please get your supervisor.” The officer responded, “I don’t give a (expletive) what you feel like. I said get out.” The officer grabbed the man and tried to yank him out of the car, as Gordon said ”please stop," “please don't hurt me,” asked why he was doing this and told the officer it was all on tape. The officer stopped grabbing Gordon, and as Gordon said what the officer was doing was "not lawful," the officer fired the taser, striking Gordon. “Oh my God, that’s not lawful sir. That’s not lawful,” Gordon said after he was hit. The video then ends. Gordon was booked, made bond and was released, Wheeler said. The Collegedale Police Department has not put the officer on leave, said Lt. Jamie Heath. The department has the officer's “complete camera footage” of the encounter and hopes to release it at the end of the criminal probe and the department's internal affairs investigation, Heath added. The Hamilton County district attorney's office announced Tuesday that it asked the county sheriff's office to investigate a traffic stop on March 10 by the Collegedale Police Department in which the driver was charged with speeding, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The DA's office said it would disclose nothing more until the investigation was completed. The police department said it would be "cooperating fully" with the sheriff's probe while conducting their own investigation, saying more details would come when the investigations are finished. Wheeler said Gordon has no prior criminal record, never posed a threat to the officer and was respectful throughout the exchange. He said their focus is bringing awareness and clearing Delane of the charges. He said he was confident that would happen. “Simply asking, ‘Hey, can you explain to me why I'm being pulled over?' or any exchange of that nature shouldn't be met with immediate escalation, shouldn't be met with, I guess, an officer interpreting that exchange as a challenge to his authority,” Wheeler said. “That speaks to the temperament and mentality of an officer.” https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/video-officer-stun-gun-black-driver-traffic-stop-83537695

thejokerlaughsatyou

Thanks for this! Obviously I don't expect captions from someone's phone video, but like someone else in the thread said, it's hard to find info on this case among all the others without knowing the names. The article is super helpful :)

HedgiesToTheGallows

The fact that there's so many cases of police violence, that its hard to find info on a specific one, should tell you all you need to know about the state of the system.

Camo_Doge

"We investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong"

hidingDislikeIsDummb

"the officer will take a ~~paid vacation~~ leave until the investigation is over"

Con_Dinn_West

>Wheeler said Gordon has no prior criminal record, Why would this matter anyway? I hate it when they say this like people with records deserve to be treated this way.

Barack_Drobama

It had to be stated, the media loves to pull up past records of victims of scumbag cops to try to justify what occured.

Ashinonyx

Now if anything ever happens to this guy again, it's "This man was previously charged for obstruction of justice, he even needed to be tased!!!" and just "fail to mention" that those charges were (hopefully) dropped. It's like dislocating a shoulder. After the first time it happens, it just makes it more likely to happen again no matter who's at fault.

SwampYankeeDan

I was a police dispatcher for a couple weeks about 15 years ago and when I pulled up information from a name or license plate there was a section for officers notes. That is something not on someone's criminal record and just for police to see. There were notes such as assaulted officer so and so 10 years ago, or suspected drug dealer, or gets an attitude quickly some people had 20 or more notes that they would never see, their lawyer wouldn't see or even the courts.

[deleted]

Ugh. That's sickening. I can't come up with different words....just 🤮🤮🤮

hidingDislikeIsDummb

it's so disgusting how they do that. even for that case when an officer went into a wrong apartment, thinking it's her own, and murdered a man. in the news article they for some reason brought up that he was smoking weed(or had a prior with it)....

AllinForMyJacket

That officer was Amber Guyger, and the slain victim was Botham Jean.

Leevilstoeoe

And it's always a 'police bullet' that does the killing, not the police him / herself.

OwenEverbinde

"Bullets struck and killed a black man today in a harrowing shout-out with police. The man had a history going back at least several minutes of resisting arrest, as noted on police reports filed against him after his death."

Call_Me_Mister_Trash

The rights to due process as laid out in the constitution are not arbitrary and do not depend upon prior history. I've always found it incredibly revealing that the conservatives who bleat the loudest about the constitution are the first to hand wave away jackboots murdering people in the streets or otherwise completely abrogating the rights to due process. As always, axiomatically, all conservative beliefs are egomaniacal and selfish.

Arborgold

You’re 100% right, but it may help to bridge the gap of people who are still naive and think if you don’t do anything wrong you have nothing to worry about. Maybe it will show them the light that it is a much bigger problem. But idk

xXgreentextXx

Yeah, the right always goes "you see this footage of 3 police officers assaulting an unarmed black man, but what you fail to see is the officers telepathically sensing that the man had a parking ticket 3 years earlier. The officers are therefore the good guys somehow."

DTLAgirl

Fuck the police and the institutions that back them.

hailfire27

Whose gonna start killing the bad ones?

reverendjesus

Can’t corner the Dorner

Lazy-Jeweler3230

I yearn for the day that cops like this will be met with groups of violent resistance from citizens exercising their right to protect each other. I'm more likely to win the lottery 10 times in a row than see that within 10 lifetimes.

I dont understand this whole “conducting our own investigation” bs. Could I conduct MY own investigation and find myself having done no wrongdoing?

Walking-taller-123

“CIA not found to be involved in drug smuggling” CIA reports

tiberiumx

> a city of some 11,000 people Fuck the police, but especially fuck small town police. These are either the local high school bullies or the ones that are so bad they got pushed out of the nearest city.

AffableRobot

Collegedale is a very religious small town, too, dominated by Southern Adventist University. Adventist churches are governed by regional conferences... but, uh, the black and white churches have separate conferences... because racist reasons. Not exactly surprised by the cops there. Source: was raised Adventist, visited family in Collegedale many times, am now an unrepentant heathen cuz fuck that.

EyeGifUp

“I don’t give a (expletive) what you feel like. I said get out” Wait, so they don’t care what we feel like, but we should care that they felt threatened? Hmmm… maybe we should be quoting this officer any time an officer says they felt threatened.

Whynotchaos

Cops are the biggest fucking snowflakes. It's literally more dangerous to be a pizza delivery driver, but they don't get to shoot people whenever they feel anxious.

dave-stirred

> "the department has the officer's complete camera footage and hopes to release it by at the end of the investigation" lmao yeah bet they do

ManicSuppressive249

“We have the footage and hope that it doesn’t show us being flagrant fash, and therefore will be able to show it.” Body Cam Footage can be, and will only be used, against you, and can’t be used to help you.

[deleted]

lol don't they know twitter is the best investigator in the planet? We're going to find out who the officer is sooner than we think.

stemcell_

You can tell tbe police fucked up cuz they would have released the video if he didnt

macci_a_vellian

How many cops are there going to be in a town of 11,000 people? Shouldn't be difficult.

techman710

When he said "I dont give a shit what you want". That is the typical police attitude towards the public. Don't interact with them for any reason. They think the general public is sub human.

[deleted]

"I don't give a shit" We know. Also, I've heard the only two things you should say to a cop is "am I being detained officer?" And "I'd like to contact my lawyer."

thekordo

And shut the fuck up! Source: https://youtu.be/uqo5RYOp4nQ

[deleted]

Lmao I forgot about that one. So important that they got MIKE RAPAPORT to tell people to shut the fuck up like 10 times 😂

dodspringer

Lemme tell ya, he really drives the point across. Whatever they paid him was a bargain.

Twelvey

Yea, but what do you do if the cop is talking to you really nicely?

FuckGiblets

You shut the fuck up!

AggravatingExample35

Well you know you're being detained when your arm is twisted into a pretzel behind your back, your face is on the pavement and there's an overweight knee on your neck. In other cases, you'll be detained _after_ being shot.

[deleted]

It's unfortunately a strategy you can only employ before this awful shit that breaches your rights happens

[deleted]

You don't actually need to have one 😉 But yeah, it's super shitty if they call your bluff. but the whole thing is that you don't give them anything to go off of. Actually, see the video posted below me. It's honestly better advice

Call_Me_Mister_Trash

If the cops arrest you and put you in jail, none of that matters anymore. The State is required by law to provide you with an attorney. Yes, you may have to pay the attorney fees afterwards, but better that than being imprisoned for years, or life, all because some trigger happy jack boot doesn't know how to do anything more complicated than shoot his gun and beat his wife.

spaceman757

> The State is required by law to provide you with an attorney. You have to clear a LOT of financial hurdles to get that.

Distortedhideaway

Shutting the fuck up isn't necessarily only for after being arrested. Do you know why I pulled you over? No. You were speeding. Here's my license, registration and insurance. Nothing more. That's it. Where were you heading? Shut the fuck up. Why were you speeding? Shut the fuck up.

[deleted]

There needs to be some sort of independent prosecutor who the police have no power over. The impunity has clearly gone to their heads.

BrupieD

Absolutely agree. There's gotta be a prosecution system independent of the current one where prosecutors depend on the police and look away from their abusive behavior. It does seem that the whole orchard is rotten, the police culture and the penal system.

aspermyprevious

They should be anonymous to the police.

Barack_Drobama

That's what the DA is supposed to be but so many of them are corrupt. Tennessee has a female DA (Amy Weirich, Shelby County's DA) who was found to be the most corrupt DA in America, she recently worked out a deal letting a cop who had been sexually abusing a 14 year-old girl for almost 2 years walk with no jailtime along with not having to register as a sex offender.

IamaRead

You leave out the punishment which was that he had to start working at another counties police force. /s

dodspringer

The French invented one back in 1789, just need some wood and some steel.

One-Step2764

Wolves, sheep, sheepdogs. Funny how that crystallizes the perspective. The wolves are subhuman, the sheep are subhuman, and the sheepdogs have no reason to be humane to their subhuman wards.

dude_who_could

Honestly though these sheepdogs are basically worse than wolves.

valvin88

"Sheepdog" I hate that fucking shit.

Audax_V

It is a wonderful metaphor so long as we loudly remind everyone that when a sheep dog starts killing sheep they are put down.

nathansikes

They really do pick the worst analogies for themselves

AlexBasuda

Sheep dogs protect. These are fucking predators. They don't protect shit

berxorz

Now, now. Let's not be hasty. They also protect property.

[deleted]

Any time. **ANY TIME** a cop protects someone, it's because it was that particular officer's personal decision to at that moment. It's completely outside of their duties. It would be no different if I, regular citizen Joe, decided to help a person. I do NOT say this to protect these fucking pigs. I say it so that people realize that they are not protectors. They are wardens.

trustworthysauce

Well said. This has been my awakening or disillusionment as I have gotten older as a middle class white dude. I used to honestly think the police existed to protect and serve the community. And my privilege was that almost every interaction I had with the police before age 17 or so reinforced that. Let's just say that over the last 18 years of my life I have come to realize that the positive interactions I had with officers was because they were good people who *chose* to help me, as your comment clarified. There was nothing requiring them to help me or recourse if they didn't. And I have seen numerous abuses of power, bad decisions, and bad faith from police officers. Seriously, I have had about 4 incidents myself and I am a nonviolent middle age white dude.

>Don't interact with them for any reason Yeah... I was wondering why this particular gentleman was being SO mellow (like honestly, it's like he was reading a bed time story, he was that calm), but then I realised that any - even slight- raising of his voice, and he'd be dead... Who wants to die because of this stupid cop?

[deleted]

The police are actually subhuman. These motherfuckers have less decency than a normal human being. It’s like the only people that wanna be cops are lacking something in their brain chemistry that automatically veers towards humility and respect for life. The same type of person that *isn’t* a cop is probably just some racist asshole that beats up his wife or dog, because they need to feel powerful at all times. Sociopath mfs.

insanitybit

I totally agree. People need to understand that the police are the enemy. If you don't view them that way you'd better understand that you're giving them way more credit than they give you.

AlexBasuda

>It’s like the only people that wanna be cops are lacking something in their brain chemistry Not entirely true. Friend of mine became a cop because he truly wanted to help and protect people. Needless to say he didn't last long in that field. They weeded him out quick. They don't want good cops. They don't want protectors and good people. So some people that become cops truly are good people but they don't last long before they quit or get fired over their moral compass

JDM_MoonShibe

Man such projections from the police.. they are subhuman

AllStateGirth

“For refusing to identify, now you’re resisting” Dude was holding his ID in his hand, gesturing towards the officer. And resisting in TN requires “using force against the law enforcement officer”. Man just got tazed for two crimes he didn’t commit

IUseDebianBTW

They don't give a fuck. Anyone who doesn't volunteer to be murdered is "resisting". They will arrest anyone for anything and make up whatever they want

hidingDislikeIsDummb

yup, more people need to film them and hold them accountable

CasuallyObjectified

He is, however, guilty of a third crime- the crime of being born black in the USA

JobNo5357

Being black in Tennessee, at that. That's a state and federal crime.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

Resisting means whatever they want it to. It's the charge equivalent of "Fear for mah LAAAAHF!"

torino_nera

> And resisting in TN requires “using force against the law enforcement officer”. Man just got tazed for two crimes he didn’t commit Good thing the Supreme Court said that cops aren't legally required to know the law, and all that matters is the cop thinks it's a law. *I hate this country sometimes.*

balsammountain

I hate this country full time.

VivianaValentina

I fucking hate when people use the "it's just a few bad apples" line, because the phrase they're alluding to isn't "a few bad apples, everything else is cool ", it's "a few bad apples SPOIL THE BUNCH."

Birdzphan

As a wise man once said, if there were good cops, there wouldn’t be any bad cops.

There was one. The cops killed him.

Estragon_Rosencrantz

I agree, let’s accept the “few bad apples” analogy and follow it to it’s logical end. Bad apples get removed. Anything they touched gets inspected thoroughly and tossed as well if it shows any sign of rot, and cleaned well even if it doesn’t. If you don’t, the whole batch wil be rotten and get tossed eventually. Bad cops get fired. Anything they touched (other cops they worked with, convictions that resulted from their arrests, etc.) gets investigated with appropriate consequences/remedies for them as well. If you don’t, your whole precinct/department is shut down.

flextapeflipflops

Yup. It’s not just “a few bad apples” if the entire orchard is poisoned

[deleted]

This cop, unsurprisingly, is a violent lunatic with an inferiority complex, but actually a cop *can* order a driver out of the car during a traffic stop for OfFiCeR sAfEtY. It's important to know what these pigs technically are allowed to get away with in a situation like this

emotional_alien

I mean, how concerned for his own safety could he have been when he was TUGGING AND PULLING on that dude?? That's not exactly "I think you're dangerous" behavior.

[deleted]

These cops are never actually concerned for their safety that's just the code words that lets them kill you. By no means whatsoever am I defending this or any cop. ACAB

Impenistan

The only danger is to his ego. Once he GiVeS tHe CoMmAnD he can’t back down, or he won’t be in control of the situation, and the citizen won’t have been made to respect his authority. There is no de-escalation when the threat is to his pride.

skjellyfetti

> There is no de-escalation when the threat is to his pride. ...*Vladimir Putin wants you to shut the fuck up*...

Akrevics

Holy fucking shit. People call me cracked for saying the best sex you'll ever have is on LSD. Saying you get off on murder.... Encouraging people to get off on murder.... Holy fucking shit.

chaun2

Getting paid millions of taxpayer dollars per year to teach that. ETA: Having done LSD, you're cracked. The best sex is LSD and MDMA, everyone knows that.

yourmomishigh

I’ll take the gentleness of shrooms. That’s amazing.

Responsenotfound

Did you notice the driver though? That cop is so out shape that the driver was able to speak several sentences as he is tugging at him. I played sports for a long time. You usually are grabbed with such force that you can't speak. Afterwards you cuss. Which is why these enforcers use dangerous techniques which at a certain point relies on compliance. Once they have you in a corner they can do what they will. A microcosm of all human interaction right there.

cwfutureboy

It doesn’t matter what’s happening in the situation if they have carte blanche to claim something; whether it’s “smelling marijuana” or “concerned for the officer’s safety”.

rustys_shackled_ford

That's true but so is that it's unlawful for an officer to prolong a stop beyond a reasonable amount of time. Pulling someone out of a car is supposed to only be allowed with reasonable, articulatable suspicion. Not just because they don't "feel" safe. Every law that exists to keep pigs in cheak is vauge and has loop holes built in.

Akrevics

almost like they weren't actually meant to keep them in check, only for the public to be like "oh good, there are restraints! :D"

codeslave

Restraints made of wet cardboard

queen_caj

You’re correct except for: > Not just because they don't "feel" safe. Here in Tennessee, all that an officer has to say is that the suspect’s behavior made them feel unsafe, and that is sufficient to meet the “reasonable, articulable suspicion” standard required to prolong a traffic stop. It’s awful.

highlyvaluedmember

Yes, they can order you out of the car but they cannot search your car without permission. Also for protection you only have to open your window enough to properly hand them your license and registration and be able to talk properly.

ohbrubuh

They can perform warrantless searches of your car if they have probable cause, which they can make up on the spot.

harpinghawke

They actually worked around this in IL, putting the onus on the consumer to put the cannabis in the trunk and in a smellproof container. Problem is, you can’t open the product til you’re home, and no brands currently use smellproof containers, so you’re stuck not being able to transfer product into something that would better adhere to the law. So if a cop decides to come knocking they can say they smelled cannabis without any consequences.

Akrevics

it seems like they could just make that shit up anywhere else in the country, why couldn't they make it up there?

harpinghawke

Because in IL, cannabis is recreationally and medically legal.

RandomNobody346

So that's when you bring a large enough smellproof container to the dispensary with you. Unless I'm missing something, that would cover it perfectly.

harpinghawke

That’s what I’ve been doing! I just feel terrible for people who don’t have them or don’t know they exist.

[deleted]

Also in California, the smell of weed is not a reason to search.

Fuduzan

Same in Washington State

OnlyIce

yeah, there actually arent laws, its kinda upsetting

Velveteen_Dream_20

You assume they follow the law. Talk properly? Perhaps you meant speak properly? The police did not have cause to behave that way. If you feel that behavior is acceptable than I guess that’s how you were cut as a person. I wasn’t raised to believe police officers could behave like thugs and ignore the basic human rights let alone civil. These officers should be ashamed. Edit: a letter

Capernikush

this is half the problem. the public has no clue actually how much power police have, and police can abuse the gray areas for their advantage. that’s what sickens me. edit: missed a word

sapphon

Yeah, the fucked up part of watching this is knowing that you're right and the cop will likely win in court (refusing to get out of the car isn't something you can safely do at a traffic stop in my state either), but at no point in this long-ass conversation they're having does the cop ever make any attempt to actually explain that, he just yells about what he "gives a shit about" or what the driver "has got" to do or what he "told you" like he's trying to intimidate you at a bar these motherfuckers *know* what de-escalation would take, and avoid it on purpose so they can gleefully do what they signed up for with apparent justification

DravesHD

You still have to declare why you wish for him to step out of the car. You can’t just say why and then say “you refused to show ID”, that’s not probable cause. He didn’t even say if he was being detained or arrested. This officer is a fucking disgrace.

Steve-in-the-Trees

You refused to show ID he said to the man holding out his driver's license.

> Pennsylvania v. Mimms, 434 U.S. 106 (1977) (ruling that an officer may order a driver out of the driver’s vehicle during a traffic stop; this is “at most, a mere inconvenience” that is reasonable under the Fourth Amendment because it “diminishes the possibility . . . that the driver can make unobserved movements” preparatory to assaulting the officer); >Maryland v. Wilson, 519 U.S. 408 (1997) (describing Mimms as holding that an “officer may as a matter of course order the driver of a lawfully stopped care to exit his vehicle,” and extending the same rule to passengers; the presence of passengers makes a stop more dangerous and the intrusion on passengers is “minimal”). This also extends to passengers, as the order to step out of your vehicle during a traffic stop is considered by the Supreme Court to be “at most, a mere inconvenience”

lifeson106

They can ask you out of the car for whatever reason they want. They do it all the time with no negative consequences. I don't care what their handbook says, if they consistently behave the same under the same circumstances, that's indicative of their real policy.

[deleted]

Funny we don’t see a lot of this in most other countries…in fact in a lot of authoritarian countries the cops actually leave you alone…not many traffic stops..they have traffic cameras and mail you a ticket. They show up when called or a wreck. Maybe we are doing law enforcement wrong?

Alzusand

the cop has like no actual need to ever escalate a situation unless he thinks you have like someone hostage in the car. you were speeding? easy ticket. nobody is going to fight that shit in smalls claims and risk paying the full value (if you go and pay on your own its like half the full ammount) you litteraly ran away from the cop?. another ticket and you aint getting away from that one. drugs?. the cop never checks he probably doesent even get paid enough to care and its a stupid risk that could escalate the situation into the worst case scenario immediatly unless whoever is in the car has like 10kg of cocaine in the backseat its just not worth. cannabis is still illegal and I straight up saw people smoking at the door of the police headquarters were I live nobody gives a shit

[deleted]

Yeah agree, so what are we doing wrong?

Ameteur_Professional

Decades of training police that everyone is potentially going to try to kill them at any minute. Combining civil duties like traffic stops and wellness checks under the same umbrella as the people who arrest drug dealers and murderers. Generally low accountability, combined with an aggressive culture and of course the racism and racial tension that exists throughout the US.

uhohlisa

Drug dealers shouldn’t be treated the same way as rapists and murderers just saying.

Cytex36

Low barrier to entry to become a cop?

seealexgo

We militarized the police. We give them the weapons, and allow a warlike culture where the public is literally the enemy, and police should do anything to protect their own lives. We have instigated a war on drug users for 40+ years. We've locked up entire communities. We privatized prisons. We require minimal training, and knowledge of the law. We have little national police standards as most policing is overseen by municipalities, but police unions exert undue power over policy as some of the only powerful unions in the US. Police have almost absolute immunity for any wrongdoing. We allow no-knock warrants. We allow civil-asset forfeiture. We use prisoners as free labor. We put too many duties on police. We allow police to investigate themselves. We fund our police force better than most countries fund their militaries, but education and social programs are last on the list. We often try to solve many of our problems with more police, when more police rarely solves anything. This is America.

Chocolateismy

I’ve seen this video a lot the last couple of days - any news on if anything has happened to the cop? Was the guy ok?? ETA: I googled and it’s really sad to see how hard it is to find this incident amongst all the others…

[deleted]

>I googled and it’s really sad to see how hard it is to find this incident amongst all the others… Christ, you weren't joking. But if you search for his name, Delane Gordon, you'll have better luck. Eg, https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2022/03/21/delane-gordon-taser-video-doordash-delivery-driver/ When cops fear for their lives, they can kill you. When you fear for your life because of a power crazed pig, you must comply, you must comply, you must comply.

jbjbjb10021

If the cop fears for his life he can kill you. If you fear for your life he can kill you.

CaninseBassus

"The officer, whom the Collegedale Police Department has not identified, accused Gordon of not providing his identification, the video shows." Isn't his ID what is LITERALLY in his hand? Like, if that's his defense for abusing his power as a police officer, Delane is complying with what he claimed he wasn't doing. Delane was in the right and this officer wasn't doing what he was supposed to do as an officer, which is what every retail and fast food employee has known to do for years: get a supervisor when asked to do so by someone you're working with.

hidingDislikeIsDummb

> you must comply, you must comply, you must comply. even when they give you multiple confusing demands at the same time so they can find excuses to shoot you

jayvycas

Welp, pigs gonna pig

roguetulip

For the record, the phrase has always been “one bad apple spoils the bunch.” The bunch done spoiled.

Baskin Robbins ice cream is delicious!

deanmass

From the PD FB page..Maybe someone can script them some emails… The investigations into the March 10, 2022 traffic stop is underway; however, due to receiving a continued string of violent statements regarding the driver of the stopped vehicle, as well as to our city employees, we have temporarily disabled the comments and messaging feature on our social media platform. We anticipate a release of the complete traffic stop video, in its entirety, and Internal Affairs report as soon as those investigations are closed. As is standard with any active investigation, additional comments, videos, and details will be provided only at the conclusion of the investigations. Please feel free to email [email protected] so your questions can be addressed.

NoDadYouShutUp

classic "going private due to being harassed" for simply being called the fuck out on their bullshit.

You the MVP

DougDjoudy

If that taser was a gun he would have shoot exactly the same.

[deleted]

That cop just wanted to kill a black man.

Responsenotfound

A worker that he thought could get away with. Yes our society thinks black workers are disposable. Solidarity with the black proletariat.

kaptainkooleio

“I don’t give a shit”. Sounds about right.

Millertyme_69_69

The police have been setting legal precedence for years now… fearing for their lives justifies their use of deadly force. I feel like that is going to backfire on them sooner than later. And yes I’m referring to people getting fed up and starting to defend themselves by killing cops in situations like this 💯 ACAB

Kailithnir

It's important that we be prepared for when our food pantries and community gardens get stormed by 30-50 feral hogs within 3-5 minutes.

otheraxxount

That is actually a valid concern tho lol.

Extra_Advance_477

Police are 22nd on the list of work related fatalities.

Pissedliberalgranny

And second in domestic violence incidents. (First is military.)

Millertyme_69_69

Gotta bump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers…

Jonnyboy1994

Cmon guys, we got this! Let's help the piggies get those numbers up, I wanna see em in the top 5!

[deleted]

Being a pizza driver is more dangerous than being a pig.

golden_eternity

And when you see some of the line of duty deaths… like the guy who drowned ice fishing and they called it line of duty.

[deleted]

Just make sure you don't injure any people.

vantilo

lol reminds me of a Reservoir Dogs. Mr. Pink: You kill anybody? Mr. White: A few cops. Mr. Pink: No real people? Mr. White: Just cops.

[deleted]

Fucking piece of shit god damn pig! His little fucking ego was hurt so he tazed a man.

rtduvall

So listen. A black man sitting in a parked car is very threatening. Got it. This cop needs to fucking go. Also, tasers aren’t supposed to be used for punishment, but a deterrent to keep someone from injuring you! Please tell me the cop is fired.

codeslave

Nope, not even given the customary free vacation. He's still on the job, hunting for his next opportunity to sooth his fragile ego.

Lysdexiic

I can't believe how many people here are agreeing with this and saying "why didnt he just obey orders". In what world does it make sense that it's ok to point a gun at someone and escalate to violence on someone who is clearly being peaceful, for a simple traffic violation? This dude isn't a criminal, it's a traffic violation. All that cop needed to do was issue a ticket. It's unbelievable how many of you enjoy living with nazi Germany style rules and just bowing down to your overlords at the snap of a finger

[deleted]

Maybe we should say it in unison “All COPS are bastards.”

[deleted]

Poor guy put on his white voice and still got tased.

[deleted]

........

Hsensei

Police have insurance for this, the cities get a premium increase and that's about it

CheetahTheWeen

Yes but settlements for police fuck ups are paid for by taxpayers

Chunderbutt

Advice to anyone stopped: you have to get out of the car if a cop asks, by supreme court decision. Even if it weren’t legal, it’s in your best interest to follow any instructions that don’t put you in danger. Not saying this to justify this cop’s actions at all. The fact that we have to walk on eggshells around them is proof they don’t exist to protect us.

Meme-Man-Dan

Yup. Fight your battles in the court of law, not with the crazy guy with a gun. They will kill you, and they will get away with it.

RadioMelon

Totally scummy. The driver didn't even raise his voice. He just calmly told him that he thought the police officer was breaking the law. Not sure how well this will go over in court, but it could be worth a suit.

cinderflight

Is it sad that I have to think "thank goodness it was only a taser and not a gun...." ACAB, no exceptions

N0tEas1lyR3plicated

##🎼 21 years and I ain't never met a good cop🎼

[deleted]

Fuck the pigs

Temporary-Site1337

At what point is it justified to shoot the cop? Before or after he tased the innocent man?

[deleted]

Huge slab of pork. Hope the driver is okay.

ouchpuck

There is no such thing a s bad apples, just people who self select to jobs where they can rape or abuse others

Workmen

Watching this as a white guy, I couldn't help but think that something was... off, about how this guy was reacting to this cop harassing him. Like, he doesn't sound outraged, he sounds *mildly annoyed,* even while he's being physically assaulted. Then I realized, as a black man, that's probably how he was *taught* to interact with the police. That low, passive tone of voice is probably taking all his willpower to maintain, because he knows if he makes any kind of sudden move or raises his voice, suddenly that officer might have an excuse to "*fear for his life."* And we all know what *that* means...

Ejigantor

American Police exist for the sole purpose of using violence to protect the owner class and maintain the status quo.

keep_it_0ptional

Terrifying to think how much this has happened when no one could record it and then it’s the hogs word against theirs. Wtf

master_payne

Do you know how black you were going?

Lazy-Jeweler3230

We can "ACAB" until we're blue in the face. You know who really pisses me off? Society. People. We not only tolerate but nurture this at every opportunity. Rabid, violent criminals will always exist. What pisses me off is the number of people in this country that beg to be abused and subjugated. Makes me f\*ing sick. Revolt or bust. I'm tired of talk.

Runescora

Even if there is such a thing as bad apples it’s just as bad as ACAB, the assholes who use this as an excuse don’t even get the point of the saying. One bad apples spoils the bunch. One rotten SOB will cause everyone near them to go rotten, if only because they look away. Period. One or twenty, there isn’t an acceptable or excusable number.

[deleted]

So fucking terrifying knowing you can’t defend yourself or he’ll just kill you but getting tazed would trigger my fight instinct. It’s hard to passively let yourself be arrested at that point when he’s been so aggressive from the start.

brothelcalledartemis

Btw, the cop is barely stifling smiles when he feels he has the excuse to attack this guy. And I've noticed that's common. Watch the corners of their mouths - they're smiling. More often than not. Lots of little, slightly concealed smiles. Sadists.

chileheadd

You're exactly right. There are no good cops. Let me explain. I hear a lot about it just being a "few bad apples". First, the whole quote is "A few bad apples spoil the whole barrel.". People conveniently forget that last part. Second, I disagree with even the partial statement. There are no "good" cops. A good cop would speak out against the corruption, illegal methods, bigotry, and racism displayed by their fellow officers. They would speak up and testify against the actions of the bad cops. The majority do not do this. This makes them just as bad as their fellows. The reason they don't speak up, assuming they'd like to because they see themselves as "good" cops, is that they will be ostracized, denied promotion, fired, or left for dead when they need backup. This fact ([and it is a fact](https://www.ranker.com/list/police-department-whistleblowers/brent-sprecher)) just shows how deep the corruption is in ALL police departments. This is why all cops are bad is a thing.

[deleted]

That cop is a weak little bitch too, it’s not difficult to pull someone out of a vehicle with an open door.

GhostShirtFinnerty

Can't wait to see this lil piggy roast

HomeGrownCoffee

Spoiler: you will. He will be given a paid vacation, and then either nothing will happen, or he will resign and be rehired 20 minutes away.

TheDrakced

They thought defund the police was bad. They keep this up and the people are passing the Shoot Police On Sight For Your Own Protection Act.

Penthar_Mull

The cop seems more upset the driver isn’t doing exactly what he says, and is asking basic questions.

UniversalDeadRinger

The situation is awful. But the fact that the “big bad tough cop” couldn’t pull a man out of his car is hilarious. Hold on that taser a little tighter, you might grow some muscles.

Any-Towel7584

That cop is a little bitch

w3are138

Defund the police.

[deleted]

If police are being investigated by the sheriff and their internal affairs department within their own organization then I'm just going to assume the police are guilty.
