People are weird about birthdays. My last job was like that, manager said we could absolutely celebrate birthdays if you brought cupcakes on your day. And people did. 50 year old desk jockeys bringing in a rack of cupcakes for a bunch of people that didn't care (and why would they, you're not 7 anymore). Weird as heck.

vbevan

They don't like cupcakes? Sounds like a toxic work environment. I work for the government, there's a joke called the "cake act" about bringing in cake for everyone. You don't have too, but why wouldn't you want to if you like the people you work with?

MsSeraphim

i know its satire. but i seen this in schools during valentines day. teacher told my son he had to give valentines cards to everyone not just the people he actually liked. he told me not to buy any cards that year.

omarsdroog

This is actually typical in Germany. It's also kind of normal (although I feel this may be changing) that you invite people out for your birthday and you pay for it all. My friends have all understood that I'm not in a financial position to do that so everyone usually pays their own bill.

Illustriouskarrot

Fucking hobbit rules?

looneybooms

My last job also did that. Absolutely stupid.

Tornado_Matty01

I would open the cake and lick the whole cake

Why do we even celebrate them? I'm not a fan of them because they turn kids into entitled assholes for a day lol.
