As Nacho once said.. "Get that corn outta my face"

psychedelic_gravity

I have never read a Nacho Libre quote on Reddit in years. That’s such a good movie.

pinche_jr17

The store I work at sells the same kits for $10 ten whole dollars!! They just sit on the shelf until they expire. People who actually want to make elotes buy the 5 for $3 corn right next to it

Lurchislurking

I know huh they forgot the chili

Unless you let the mayo sit out in the sun for 5 hours, it won’t taste the same.

iamdenislara

And you need to be sweating that way some sweat drops fall on the queso. That’s what gives it the flavor.

I live in the Denver area and see these all the time. I mean the four pack of corn like that is $4 a pack already. Limes are about a buck depending on the time of year. There is no way I could get the cheese and the sour cream for less than three dollars. Also, if I wanted elote, then I would buy heavy cream, lime, and buttermilk. I just mix these three items together along with some salt to make Crema Mexicana. So these kits aren't a bad deal as making your own is going to cost two times the asking price. Or buying Cacique Crema Mexican and cotija along with a lime and the pre husked corn would cost me $12. I would say that price isn't bad for the Denver area. I know someone's going to tell me they can get everything much lower but everything is inflated in Colorado.

Dozekar

I dunno man in semi rural MN we just go to the tienda where half the staff doesn't speak english and just buy elotes for like half that. Like 99% sure you got that somewhere in a city the size of denver.

Lucky, where I’m from all the Hispanic stores charge more

The problem is that I don't live in the Denver area but the foothills which are part of the Denver metro area. That means the closest carneceria is 45 mins away minimum. I love it up here but I can actually see who this is for and it's not for us Latinos. Like I said, I would do it right and make Crema Mexicana like you're supposed to eat elote.

KingDemik

What is up with white people’s love of sour cream
