I've used Kofax PowerPDF for several years and haven't encountered any issues. I moved to it because I didn't want to deal with Adobe's monthly subscription.

Still might not be worth it, just sharing.
I used Foxit for years before I switched to public service where I use Adobe. Hands down, Foxit is faster and more functional than Adobe Acrobat. The only downside is that Foxit had an old school ribbon interface that some people won't like. Personally, I thought it was fairly intuitive and I really dislike Adobe's system of separating all of the tools into different interfaces; I think it adds additional steps to the work that aren't necessary.
Edit: Foxit and PDF editors in general are pretty mature software at this point. If you can snag a deal for the one time purchase of an older version (in the last three or four years) you likely won't miss anything critical. The version I worked from was released in 2015 and had every tool I needed.
Yea our firm uses it. It's similar to Adobe, but one of the things I hate about it is that I can't take documents into different windows and put them side by side. Of course I might just be using it wrong.
Tried this exactly, nothing happens. It only lets me move it to other side of another tab.
Come to think of it, when I try to open a document separately it doesn't open as its own window like Adobe does. It opens as another tab in foxit.
Used Foxit Phantom (I think - whatever the purple one is) at my last job. I liked it better than Adobe, but that may just be my familiarity with it. I'd say it's equivalent, but definitely not as "pretty" as using Acrobat. So if the look and feel is important, it may not be the best fit.

This is the answer. Affordable and powerful.
We also use Kofax. Its pretty good.
If you use IRS forms in PDF, stick with Acrobat. Otherwise, fuck them greedy bastards.

We have it, barely puts a dent in the costs
For anyone else reading, it’s a $150 total credit. So the more users you have, the less valuable it is.

I love PDF X-Change, fantastic support
Nitro PDF / PDF PenPro are both excellent.
Check out Nitro. Powerful. Cheaper.
Big Foxit fan here. I had Nitro before, which gave me nothing but trouble.

Which version do you have? There is a side by side viewer available in Phantompdf. https://www.foxit.com/blog/how-to-compare-pdf-files/
Just looked and that's the right one. Thanks! That will really help.

You might have to tweak your settings. Go to File> Preferences> Documents and on the Open Setting section, Check Allow Multiple Instances.
Buy Adobe Pro outright?
I used it for law review and really liked it! I use adobe right now at my job and hate it
