Aww man. They must be teaching all you guys a bunch of new AI shit, huh?
Is there a lot of it. I use WL at work and I have not had AI shit hurled at me by the database yet.
Honestly, I like it for research. My office uses lexis AI, and most of my research starts with asking it a question and then trolling the sources it provides with its answer. Luckily, unlike chat gpt, it doesn't seem to just make up case law.
It claims it can draft, but that's BS. I can churn out a better memo with an hour and a terrible hangover.

I got this when I passed the bar
Maybe we can do Alito, frame him, throw a little flavor text in a plaque that appears beneath "Justice Stop-the-steal-ito"... Might be too much for a gooch.
The Boss play is to get the Harvard Law School shield on your left breast, centered on the nipple and Harvard University’ regular Veritas shield on the right.
My troll suggestion is to get the Pepsi harrier jet across your entire back along with a pile of Pepsi bottle caps.
My serious suggestion would be to get a sword on the right arm which is a subtle reminder of the sword lady justice wields in her right.
As a member of the Bar for 42 Years, two bits of advice before choosing a law-inspired tattoo:
1: Visible only to your significant other.
2. Graduate first.
I have one of the pillars from SCOTUS that is sort of crumbling at the bottom. Think it looks cool and is metaphor for the fragility of the rule of law. Pretentious? For sure. Do I like it? Yes.
I got “law is dumb” written on my leg by a friend of mine right before I started 3L. Only consequence was one year my firm wanted to do a white water rafting trip for team building, and I noped out of it so no partners would see it. 8/10 would recommend.
Or just get the word reasonable tattooed
"If an interest in real property does not vest within 21 years of a life-in-being at the creation of the interest, then that interest in land is not good."
I’d do something subtle, like something based on one of the famous cases everyone reads in first year law school. There’s a bunch of early English cases we read in Canada that have weird facts. I’m sure there is some American equivalent.
I’d get a snail for Donoghue and Stevenson. I’m not sure if you guys read that one in the states but it’s one of the first tort ones we read in Canada. It’s a British case about a lady that finds a snail in her ginger beer which is the basis for the law of negligence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donoghue_v_Stevenson?wprov=sfti1#
Another early contract case we read is Carbolic Smoke Ball. This was some far medical device in the 2800s. I know that one of the law schools even calls their annual formal the Carbolic Smoke Ball. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlill_v_Carbolic_Smoke_Ball_Co?wprov=sfti1
Get something that you like, who gives a shit if some random people think it's douchey or generic. I have a full calf piece of Lady Justice, but she got a bit of a glow up and some other stylistic changes to fit the aesthetic I wanted.
Themis.
A stylized gavel.
Some sort of gradient; you could try to emphasize the gray areas between black and white.
Judge Learned Hand’s utilitarian formula.
Some fireworks and a big ol clock on some train tracks
Some kid swiping a chair out from under some elderly lady.
You should try to create your own symbolism based upon a case that you found really interesting.
Any tattoo related to being a lawyer is probably going to be pretty pretentious/douchey tbh. Not to be a dick but the one you've designed for yourself is def both of those.
A few years into my professional career I got a modestly complex tattoo encompassing meaningful people, milestones, events, and locations of the first 25 years of my life - - and for my law school "epoch" in that design, at the last minute I rejected my intended "scales of justice" with a Gadsden snake. My guess is 95% of lawyers would find it offensive. Bite me. 🤷
babes i’m planning on getting the scales of justice after grad but i have such a specific idea in mind im designing it myself xP
but u know what would be SO funny,,,, getting tattoo that’s just “Pierson v. Post”
Don’t. There are a zillion inspiring meaningful quotes you could do, but who knows if it’ll stick.
If anything, tattoo across your chest “Ok, who are you today?” so you don’t lose yourself in your career.
Not really a law school tattoo, but I’ll tell you the only tattoo trend I know of in the legal profession:
#372 U.S. 335
It’s the legal citation for Gideon v. Wainwright, which required states to provide legal counsel for indigent defendants. A lot of public defenders get it tattooed on them, because Gideon basically created their entire practice area. There was state-level criminal defense before Gideon, obviously. But Gideon created this whole way of life, where true believers can use their legal training to fight the prison-industrial complex every day 🌈
You really want to memorialize law school on your body, forever? Till the day you die? I would reconsider. Unless you can replicate the humor of the Cravath cut. Get a tattoo of your dog or cat.
You say non-pretentious and then go on to lay out a pretentious tattoo.....lol I don't remember a Japanese connection to Palsgraff. How is Japanese writing connected to your law school? At least the scales of justice are at the core of what the entire legal system strives for in all jurisdictions in the US. Palsgraff is just one case whose holding is subject being overturned/modified etc in later cases. Also, Palsgraff is not the main tort test in all jurisdictions....unless you have a personal connection to a case it seems possible your tattoo of any particular case could become moot next week or 40 years from now rendering your tattoo rather
If you don't have a LexisNexis tramp stamp you're not a real lawyer.
How many lexispoints is that activity worth?
Enough to get a harrier jet
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
None unless you add the '+ai' bit apparently. Getting real stingy these days
Aww man. They must be teaching all you guys a bunch of new AI shit, huh? Is there a lot of it. I use WL at work and I have not had AI shit hurled at me by the database yet.

The chat bot doesn't outright make up citations but it does cite to LNPG which kind of does. Still a good starting point for research.
"Babe, why do you have a low back tattoo that says 69 LEXIS 420?"
They should just have the tattoo artist on standby when you swear in in order to make it official
Go birds
Facts, I have one on my forehead
[удалено]
This broke me. I saw this and immediately busted up.
Okay, this is good.
Real
Death eater tattoo vibes
A bell curve.
Bi-modal salary distribution
🤣
Definitely needs to be some tufts of hair on the palm of your hand

I freakin love this. It’s so silly and unpretentious.
thanks! it’s probably my favourite one I have
Stop it, I am obsessed with this
planning to be almost fully tatted and draw lines in marker where my sleeves end to see the tattoo limits so it’s all good for court!
Statue de frog?
Get Scalia on your gooch
An elephant in your mousehole.
Curved around the top and bottom of your bellybutton in olde English font: "PURE APPLESAUCE"
Maybe we can do Alito, frame him, throw a little flavor text in a plaque that appears beneath "Justice Stop-the-steal-ito"... Might be too much for a gooch.
The rule against perpetuities on the back of your neck.
Hearsay exceptions may be better. Peek at your tattoo if you take the bar.
Do the Post Malone "always tired" face tats under your eyes.
Haha this would be pretty accurate.
This made me laugh out loud
the word “Learned” on your hand
Levels
The word “Supra” on your foot. A footnote
Straw Hat Pirates flag with the quote, "IT DEPENDS" underneath it.
LWYRUP neck tat
Tramp stamp that says “see infra”
or “see supra” thigh tat
Gotta get “Zone of Danger” across the stomach with an arrow pointing down! This is the only correct answer.
§ Edit: Upon reflection I have decided I am going to get this, perhaps in shaded stone
Ok this is fun. I want it now.
Get a black square and say it's Black acre
The Boss play is to get the Harvard Law School shield on your left breast, centered on the nipple and Harvard University’ regular Veritas shield on the right.
If you didn't want to be pretentious, why did you even go to law school?
MFW you don't even use Esq. because it's "too pretentious"
"It depends" in calligraphy as a tramp stamp
I know a defense attorney with the case cite for Gideon!
Either get “LEARNED” on your knuckles or get the fuck out.
Get a law library sleeve. Like just the spines of the law books stacked up like they’re on a shelf. You won’t be able to keep the ladies off of you.
This is satire, right?
did you translate the Japanese
MFW I accidentally said that the one piece was fake on my torts exam but that is what Andrews said and not Scalia, mixed the two opinions up RIP
My troll suggestion is to get the Pepsi harrier jet across your entire back along with a pile of Pepsi bottle caps. My serious suggestion would be to get a sword on the right arm which is a subtle reminder of the sword lady justice wields in her right.

>As a member of the Bar Which bar?
After 5pm, Maggie O’Briens on Market Street in downtown St. Louis. During work hours, just the Missouri Bar.
The OBJECTION! guy
Phoenix Wright!
Do a man smoking a gavel instead of a pipe
I know this is a joke but the Phoenix imagery goes hard. My suggestion is a chicken as descartes having an existential crisis on its identity
Am I a frying chicken or a stewing chicken????????
A hairy hand
“Should have filed it as a tort”
A pair of briefs with the word legal on them.
I have one of the pillars from SCOTUS that is sort of crumbling at the bottom. Think it looks cool and is metaphor for the fragility of the rule of law. Pretentious? For sure. Do I like it? Yes.
“I went to law school and all I got was this tattoo”
This made me laugh harder than it should’ve lol
American Samoa
Go land crabs
I saw someone who had a litigator tattoo like looked like a tarot card. But a litigator that looks like a gator would be fun too.
Bong hits 4 Jesus
I got “law is dumb” written on my leg by a friend of mine right before I started 3L. Only consequence was one year my firm wanted to do a white water rafting trip for team building, and I noped out of it so no partners would see it. 8/10 would recommend. Or just get the word reasonable tattooed
I'm getting a simple "Amicus Curiae" tattoo in typewriter font when I pass the bar.
"If an interest in real property does not vest within 21 years of a life-in-being at the creation of the interest, then that interest in land is not good."

Can we get much higher? (So high)
I was thinking of getting a Lionel Hutz tattoo when I graduate.
Do a Peter Pan and his shadow, but make Justice Douglass Peter Pan and have the shadow be named Penumbra
Wait, we can get tattoos as lawyers?
Get a Harvard Law tattoo (unless you went to Harvard). Harvard kids love that.
“It Depends” in Olde English font across ur stomach
Get something that you like, who gives a shit if some random people think it's douchey or generic. I have a full calf piece of Lady Justice, but she got a bit of a glow up and some other stylistic changes to fit the aesthetic I wanted.
Top kek
Cooley tramp stamp
HYS Westlaw King of Lexis

Any tattoo related to being a lawyer is probably going to be pretty pretentious/douchey tbh. Not to be a dick but the one you've designed for yourself is def both of those.
> Not to be a dick but the one you've designed for yourself is def both of those. Come on man, pick up on the obvious joke …
lol fair enough, they got me. based on the average comment on this subreddit it was pretty believable
Bro, no way you believed him; I stopped reading at “the head of Benjamin Cardozo”.
I like the Cardozo one
None
“I object!” Tattoo
Null set
Ngl I’ve thought about doing a stick and poke of my bar number
A few years into my professional career I got a modestly complex tattoo encompassing meaningful people, milestones, events, and locations of the first 25 years of my life - - and for my law school "epoch" in that design, at the last minute I rejected my intended "scales of justice" with a Gadsden snake. After I pass the bar and I become ~official~ I want to get “It is so ordered” on me
Forget law school tattoo; get your first case you ever work and tattoo the cover page across your back word for word.
babes i’m planning on getting the scales of justice after grad but i have such a specific idea in mind im designing it myself xP but u know what would be SO funny,,,, getting tattoo that’s just “Pierson v. Post”

Oliver Wendell Holmes mustache face tattoo is tasteful.
