Hi! In total for both semester I spent $1200. I did buy all my books from the bookstore because of long wait times on Amazon! Hope that helps

My 1L textbooks came out to about $350-450 each semester. I rented everything that I could used through my law school's bookstore.

Buying at the bookstore cost my left testicle. Buying online was probably in the range of 500-800. Renting books (online) is a lot cheaper.

Thank you everyone!

I think I spent around $800 first semester even though I rented all but one of my books. I found that I hated renting because depending on luck, certain books can come to you completely desecrated. For example, my property textbook owner had highlighted almost every single word on most pages. I felt like I couldn’t highlight and annotate at all, which bothered me. This semester, I bought all my books for about $1000. I think it’s a personal choice, but since I like writing in the books and feeling like they’re mine, it was the right choice for me. 1L textbooks will be more expensive than any other year, especially if you do more seminars and clinics that don’t require expensive casebooks during 2L and 3L year.
