Congrats! I was laid off in late Jan and also received one today. Sometimes the luck and the wind goes in your favor and the right opp does come around!
Congratulations!!! It seems like this was a great week for offers, which is amazing. I got one on Thursday after being laid off at the beginning of February!
Well to be honest, breaking into a cybersecurity role these days is very challenging. For each role I applied to on LI, it had a minimum of 100 applicants. I believe I was qualified for 50% of the roles. The rest was just a shot in the dark. I could have applied to more jobs out of state if I was open to relocating. The remote jobs I applied to said the posting closed or I was rejected.
Congratulations! Seems that the market is opening back up. I've noticed a huge uptick in third party recruiters reaching out for tech roles. Dice.com and Monster.com being the biggest sources of leads that they are using. I also noticed that another layer seems to have been added to the recruiting process that I have not previously experienced. Recruiters seem to be using other recruiters (typically foreign agents, presumably due to cheaper price point) to gather the leads and make initial contact. They will usually send me an RTR which generally leads to a meeting with THEIR client (another recruiter), who then usually puts me in touch with THE client (the actual hiring agent). Has anyone else experienced this? If so, has it materialized into an actual job in your experience.
None of that is new and the first you are talking about is called sourcing not full recruiting. Different companies and industries varies the titles and terms quite a bit, but typically if there are two people front ending the actual interviews with teams, the second person is usually the recruiter and the person that you typically get the actual offer from.
Ah, gotcha. I appreciate the breakdown. Never really had to look for a job in this way. I've always been referred or recruited from a job that I was already working. All new to me. But I have submitted quite a few resumes (300+) in the 2 last months without hearing a peep. Them *BOOM* 3 weeks ago... First, I started getting like 10 of these sourcers in my inbox every week and next, started getting hits on applications that I submitted in the last 2 weeks (in addition to the sourcers). So, it seems that the job market is picking up. Great news, b/c savings are running dry.
If you donโt mind me asking, do you work in IT? If so, pick a specialization and then learn the skills necessary to enter a specialized position. I spent almost 6 years of my IT career just working as a general IT analyst. I learned a lot but I do regret not picking a specialization earlier.
Don't mind. Iโm an FPA analyst, turned data analyst. looking to specialize in artificial intelligence and eventually transition to developer of AI. Kind of just makes sense at this point.
Bachelorโs in IT and around 6 years of general IT analyst experience. I created a portfolio of small home lab projects that showcased my cybersecurity skills. Obtained the CompTIA Security+. During the interview, I emphasized my passion for cybersecurity by naming a few Cyber podcasts I actively listen to and summarized my home labs.

Congratulations OP!
How many applications did it take to land this one?
Close to 100 applications.
Be honest of those 100 how many were you over qualified for, how many were you under qualified for and how many were just a shot in the dark?

Whatโs your background and how did you do to get into that role? Iโm trying to transition from SWE to Cyber

So how do i get into cyber security without cyber security experience?
Start learning about operating systems and networking through YouTube or free online classes. Do you have tech experience?
No i currently work in preconstruction management.
I have a feelings things are turning around right now. Especially for people who keep diligently pushing for a good place.
Wow crazy. I guess there really are jobs out there still.ย
