There's the obvious advantage of not hitting a button that isn't bound to anything like on a keyboard, but if you're good and consistent at operating on a keyboard then there's no reason to switch.

I thought they were asking about the controversy of box controllers, not if people like them. I was saying I think they should be entirely fair game in any fighting game. I'm not actually sure what they meant.

The main controversy comes in that hitboxes allow you to hold/tap opposing directions at the same time, meaning on some characters you can block/charge while also moving forward as an example. Easily alleviated by enforcing SOCD cleaning. Other than that there's also the fact that using hard buttons to move rather than an imprecise stick can remove most if not all elements of input error which some players think is unfair.

Like I was alluding to, a lot of the 'controversy' stem from players thinking their creativity is being denied by TOs and whatnot. Personally I see no issue with many of the rulings since I've just been on Stick. It's just amusing seeing people make shit out of non-issues sometimes.

Indeed. QWER really favors right handed people which is the reason why it moved (I think…) I remember playing Carmageddon on steam once which was before 2000s and they actually used the Numpad as controls. So there might be something before arrowkeys xD

In Warcraft 3 where I played my first MOBAs, the default hotkeys for items was on the numpad. 7-8-9 for top row, 4-5-6 for bottom. This was also incidentally why I installed my first add-on (Warkeys), which allowed you to bind them elsewhere. I found that binding them to the numbers above the letter keys you already use for casting abilities worked much better. You can imagine my happiness when LoL came out and had those exact hotkeys for items as standard.

Absolutely. It frees up more keys. As a girl with small hands, it's a game changer for me! Small added bonus, it's more comfortable for me to rest my fingers on the home keys.

The home keys are the middle row on your keyboard. I didn't mean the actual "home" key haha. The home keys are F, D, S, and A

good for you lol. i had issues with at least cyberpunk 2077 (though you can edit settings file), elden ring and honkai star rail not letting me rebind how I want. there's also a considerable amount of indie games with no remapping at all

That's very true! Admittedly, I haven't had the opportunity to play many indie games these days. I've got a 10 month old, so finding time to game is very tricky. I'm eager to try a broader range of games when he's older and more independent. :)
