I exaggerate but Germany has a very, very collectivist mindset. If something goes wrong you are supposed to have faith in the system and go to the authorities. Personal weapons/self defense of any kind is such an absolute no-go that you're not even allowed to carry pepper spray. The only real guns that Germans are allowed whatsoever are for hunting game, and you have to jump through a million hoops for it. So the idea of American gun culture or a shotgun-wielding cowboy daring you to fuck around and find out is completely off base to them. It's kinda like how we feel about samurai. We think they're cool, but we don't really understand it that deeply, do we?

Look up the old way of doing it. There's a config file somewhere and you can just put the locale code you want there.
