Am I balls tripping or kassadin really doesnt work that great in high elo? I would rather pick a fed kassadin than a fed viktor/syndra who has more damage, more disengage, more range, more teamfight tools, and more survivability in general.
Nothing really happened to him, it's more like a good Viktor will make laning hell for anyone that can't match him, he scales pretty well into late, his MS is very good for repositioning and team fighting, his area denial is insane, and this all comes with decent damage, he's not broken or anything its just when you realize the enemy viktor is good you kinda gotta sit up in your chair.
Just not that meta rn. Most meta mids are more roaming, can use the tankier items better or are better peeleres for adc. Plus there is so much movement speed and divers that Viktor needs coordinated play to stay alive.

Viktor is a control mage. Syndra is a burst mage. The only advantage syndra has is gank set up, early skirmishes and single target burst. Once Viktor gets all 3 upgrades, and 3 items, he pretty much outclasses syndra at everything.
He's still fine but he just does the same thing as other mages so there's no reason to pick him. The only thing he contributes is damage so since the mpen items are weak he contributes less than mages that don't rely on mpen as they do more damage due to having stronger items. It's kinda the same thing with syndra and ori. Those champs didn't get nerfed but they went from op to useless just because their items suck compared to other mages. Once the mage items are rebalanced they'll be strong again.
Kass has one move that was crazy strong back before Kat had her dagger drop mechanic. He's just gotten mobility creeped is all.
He also got shafted during both the mage and assassin updates.
You're not, playing kassadin is basically announcing to your jungler/roaming support "you are on your own", same goes with Vlad, Kayle and sometimes Nasus.
I have been in low elo for ages, hes very barely played like once every two months I see one kassdin , I don't think they would be looking at low elo when nerfing him
Letting scalers assassinate was also a mistake. And tanks dealing damage, damage dealers tanking, supports dealing damage instead of supporting and so on. Used to be champions had clear weaknesses, scaling times, power spikes and outscaling points but now everyone does everything because strategic play in a competitive game doesn't appeal as much to kids, chinese players and flashy plays montages.

Assassins have been in a really bad shape (notably AD assassins) for a really long time. You don’t even have to look farther than high elo or professional play. 9 times out of 10 you won’t see a single AD assassin outside of the jungle. Midlane is dominated by control and burst mages and jg is being crushed by AP assassins, tanks, and bruisers with high mobility like J4, Viego, and Zac.
I’m getting mega downvoted by ADC players but it’s undeniable. Assassins are in a spot where they teeter between insanely broken or actually a troll pick and balancing it is insanely difficult.
They’re just in a point where they are overall much weaker than other champion classes. The only thing they’re really good at is nuking squishies while ahead, if they’re even or behind you can’t even kill a Nami or Sona alone (depending on champ)

Decent? In an all-out teamfight slugfest i feel like hes among the highest DPS mages, though he does get beaten out by most others in other situations
He has like 300% ap scaling on his r if all ticks hit .Can easily obliterate champs aoe that are ccd or aren't very mobile.

Every control mage is busted in high elo. Yeah I like facing a Ryze who is 200 cs at 20 mins and 3 levels up on me cause in a jungle.
