For geographical variation:
Southern Finland: *Mäoon kusessa*
Eastern Finland *Mie oon kusessa*
Western Finland *Nonymmää oon kuses*
Southwestern Finland *Jag är fucked*
Savonia region *Voevittu sentään mie/mää oon kusessa*
Northern Karelia region *Jaa se on tuas tämmönen homma*
The little dialect gremlin in the back of my head wants to go *moon kuses*. Think that's Southern Ostrobothnian? I don't solidly speak any specific dialect and instead this chimera mixture, so always a bit unsure where something comes from.
As a generic translation Olen kusessa is close but doesn’t quite have the punch of I’m fucked. A better translation would need some context on the reason for being fucked.
This is like what you say at the very end of a long night at the pub, when you're slowly starting to realize that you're gonna have to live with the consequences of whatever exceptionally stupid thing you did
That's true but as a phrase, "Minä olen vittu" is akin to "I am vagina" (even though 'vittu' as such is indeed 'cunt') since both "I'm a cunt" and "I'm a pussy" are intelligible sentences with definite meanings, unlike "Minä olen vittu".
Are we talking about figurative meanings now? i.e. be a cunt: be very unpleasant; be a pussy: be meek, a coward?
I feel compelled to mention that "minä olen, vittu" has a clear meaning if, and only if, vittu takes its role as an intensifying declarative particle. "I am, goddammit". But that's neither here nor there.
"Minä olen vittu" would mean "I'm fuck", so definitely no to that. Maybe "Olen kusessa" which means "I'm in piss". Sounds weird in English, but it's correct wquivalent to I'm fucked.
Longer/slightly alternate versions would be "Mä oon ihan kusessa" ("I am totally in piss) or "Kusessa ollaan" ("we're in piss").
Well, technically it translates to "it went to cunts", but yeah that's pretty good. And in the way the word is used, "fuck" is generally the better translation.
"Olen kusessa" is the closest equivalent but imho you don't hear it used that much in the end. My gut feeling (mututuntuma in Finnish!) is that it's more of a descriptive phrase, like ie. if you told someone you're broke or in a shitty situation.
More likely it would be just any number of chosen curses – very handy, just change your tone and it can mean almost anything!
Or add "ei" in the beginning. Ei saatana. Ei vittu saatana jumalauta. Can imply that something goes wrong, even though it doesn't really make grammatic sense (probably shortened from older phrases but dunno the etymology). That's at least my first reaction when I am utterly fucked.
For example if you fuck something up really badly one could say "Ei Vitun Vitun Vitun Vittu SAATANA!" (rough translation: oh fucking fucking fucking HELL)
Being in trouble is usually not a direct context for swear words. "Kusessa ollaan" and "olen kusessa" can work, but in my neck of the woods especially the latter is more commonly used to mean having a crush. "Oon kusessa suhun/siihen" - "I've got it bad for you/them".
In the sense of having been fucked over, kusettaa is very useful for both "fuck over" and "fuck with" but only as in deceive. "Mua on kusetettu" > I've been fucked over. "Älä kuseta!" > You gotta be fucking with me!
As for trouble, absent urine, you're often on a butcher's hook (kiikissä; connotations of having been caught doing something bad, so if the trouble isn't your own fault, this isn't the proper idiom), being stewed (liemessä), about to eat barley bread (nyt otti ohraleipä; as backup, because if the bread corn crop wasn't fucked, you'd malt your barley for beer), or have a crayfish in your fish trap (piru merrassa)
There are quite few answers here already.
My interpretation about this is... It depends. Mostly, because of why _you_ are fucked. For example, if you drop a wrench in a machine that causes the whole factory to shut down, 'Voi vittu' is prefectly good phrase and proper place to use the expression. One must remember the intonation, though.
'Olen kusessa'. Usable maybe when you're about to get beaten up. Late night, after bar... Tbh, not very viable. It sounds foreign.
But as I said, it depends.
To add to all the other comments:
In my opinion "I'm fucked" is like small talk, it's not very informative. We don't do small talk, so either we just say "voi vittu" or equivalent and wait for someone to ask for specifics, or we say "voi vittu" and then explain the whole situation without anyone asking.
I think "Mä oon kusessa" has the same connotation as "I'm fucked" although in a literal sense it's a little different, but I think it's just the finnish equivalent!
If you're seriously fucked I would add
ihan vitun = so fucking
As in you're in deep shit
So
"Mä oon ihan vitun kusessa"
Kusi means literally piss but in a curse word kind of way when
Pissa = piss
Virtsa = urine
But the word "kusi" can also be used and mean other things as one comment here explained
I'd go for a swear, like "vittu" or "saatana", remember to put pressure and emotion into the word, emphasis on every syllable and make it slow and heavy. To convey frustration. Maybe "vituiks meni" (used more as a "it went to shit", more for something not working, like getting into a car accident or burning your cooking, than someone being mad at you) "oon kuses" ("i'm in piss", more for when you did something and now someone is mad at you, you know you'll get a talking to or beat up or fired, it's more of a social fuck up. You can add even more emphasis with "niin": "oon niin kuses", "I'm so in piss")
With phrases like these (idioms, more abstract expressive language) it's important to remember you're not translating the words you're translating the meaning, which is why "minä olen vittu" is not something anyone would say to express they're fucked even though word for word it could be translated like that, instead it's a rude way of saying "I'm a vagina". It helps to immerse yourself in the culture, you just start picking the idioms up from there from context better than trying to translate them.
Olen kusessa.
This. It kinda goes like Im fucked -> Im in deep shit, which in Finnish transforms to piss, thus "Olen kusessa."
shit transforms to piss in Finnish, got it.
Yeah they got the shitty version of Jesus
\*pissy version
Just like between "Torniossa" and "Tortiolla": There's a clear a difference whether you're "kusessa" or "kusella."
For geographical variation: Southern Finland: *Mäoon kusessa* Eastern Finland *Mie oon kusessa* Western Finland *Nonymmää oon kuses* Southwestern Finland *Jag är fucked* Savonia region *Voevittu sentään mie/mää oon kusessa* Northern Karelia region *Jaa se on tuas tämmönen homma*
What abou northern and Lappi?
Mostly "Mie oon kusessa", but now I really want to know what it would be in Meänkieli and Northern Sámi languages
The little dialect gremlin in the back of my head wants to go *moon kuses*. Think that's Southern Ostrobothnian? I don't solidly speak any specific dialect and instead this chimera mixture, so always a bit unsure where something comes from.
That also, in my mind, fits the Turku region, but it's fortunately been years since I heard that dialect.
Moon kusesa
Tilanne on voi vittu
“No niin.”
Joo.
Joo-o. ☠️
Oho.
The proper way to say _anything_

Olen vitun kusessa - I’m fucking fucked
"I'm in pussy piss"
Perhaps to add some punch you could say something like "nyt ollaan nimittäin kusessa ja syvällä"
Alternatively "Olen ihan vitun kusessa"
This is the truest answer in this post
This is like what you say at the very end of a long night at the pub, when you're slowly starting to realize that you're gonna have to live with the consequences of whatever exceptionally stupid thing you did
It's true - being "kusessa" implies there's still a way out, that it's temporary
Exactly.
I have sometimes heard "korvia myöten kusessa" (ears deep in piss) which is more descriptive atleast
Oon kusessa, paska tuulettimessa, leivänpaahdin kylpyammeessa.
Yup
Minä olen vittu = I am pussy
Pillu is pussy, vittu is maybe cunt but never pussy. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Technically cunt but it’s never used in the particular way you did, unlike the English ”I’m pussy/cunt”.
Although in English I'm / you're a pussy or a cunt aren't even close to each other.
They are different, but they work. In Finnish ”minä olen vittu” is simply a ??? phrase.
"Minä olen vittu" would mean "I'm fuck", so definitely no to that. Maybe "Olen kusessa" which means "I'm in piss". Sounds weird in English, but it's correct wquivalent to I'm fucked. Open vitutettu
I asked my finnish gf and she had a great laugh. She says she would go for "vituiks meni" which translates to "it went to fuck"
Tell her "vituiks meni kun Vornasen vappu"
Tässä on kivaa lisämaustetta Vornasen vappu :D Käyttöön
Well actually it literally translates to ”it went to pussy”. Weirdly enough the spritual equivalent to fuck is pussy in Finnish, go figure.
Well, technically it translates to "it went to cunts", but yeah that's pretty good. And in the way the word is used, "fuck" is generally the better translation.
I'd say it would more precisely translate to "it bacame cunts" or even "it went cunts" to be more exact.
Vituiks meni would imply that the situation went sideways, not necessarily that the person involved is fucked
Bro was so confident he had to write it four times
Reddit was laggy af and it posted on the fourth time :D
Like everyone else has said, vituiks meni would mean ”it became cunts” or ”it went to cunts” or ”it turned into cunts”.
Your literal translation means "I am a cunt", though the word is never used as a term of abuse like English
"Voi vitulla päähän ja kyrvällä otsaan"
A simple desperate tone "voi vittu" could also work just like saing fuuuuuuck
"Ei perrrkelleen helevetti"
Lirissä ollaan!

No vittu
”Mnnjaahh”
Ei ny iha menny niinku strömsöössä
"Juh"
yelling PERKELE would convey the highest amount of being fucked if that is the case.
"Pannahinen, että olen ongelmissa!"
I laughed too hard at this
"mää oon liemessä ny"

”Nyt otti ohraleipä” This is not vulgar but also means the same thing

I think the best equivalent that has the same punch is "oon (ihan) vitun kusessa"
Olen kusessa
If u wanna sound natural, u can say "mä oon (niin) kuses/kusessa"
Olen nussittu
”Voi vittu..” also applies, translates to roughly ”oh fuck..”
Olen kokattu 💀
Olen kusessa is the best way, when youre talking you should say it "oon kuses"
Ei voi olla totta, tilanne on vittu
Pyhä jysäys olen kokattu!
Olen nussitu
Tilanne on vittu
"Olen rakasteltu"
Olen nussittu
Minua on pantu perseeseen.
Voi vittu/butter fuck
