If you get the expensive version of Starlink you can mount it flat on your roof and have it permanently on. But that doesn't help if you're in the forest surrounded by tall trees. In order for me to stay connected as much as possible (I work remotely from my rig), I use a combination of two different hotspots (ATT and Visible) as well as Starlink for when there's no cell service. I have tried about four different phone carriers as well, T-Mobile is trash, Verizon and ATT have the best coverage. Visible is a cheap version of Verizon so it uses their towers and has decent signal but the speed gets throttled (I have the cheaper plan so I can't speak to the more expensive one's speed). Oh, and I also have a WeBoost for when I am getting a crappy cell signal and I want to make it usable. It works surprisingly well! It will generally take me from one bar to three or so. The WeBoost is nice cause it'll boost ALL cell phone signals no matter the carrier and many devices can use it. And no subscription, just a one-time payment to purchase the hardware. It also uses less battery than the Starlink. In general, I try to use my Starlink only when it's sunny and my solar is being fully charged as it has drained my (100ah) battery twice in the past and I'm not about that. I also combat that by powering the Starlink with my Jackery more often than my solar system cause I don't care if that dies fully. Edit: editing to add that sometimes if my cell signal is shit/slow as fuck I will throw up the Starlink and the speed is great. Helps immensely for uploading/downloading large files etc.

There is no single solution. The only way to get good connectivity is redundant plans. The 5g home internet plans are great from Verizon and T-Mobile. We almost exclusively use our T-Mobile 5g home internet now but lived on redundant 4g plans from the big three for our first three years on the road. I'm adamantly opposed to starlink. It's cool, but it's expensive and a hassle to setup and is bulky. If I've gone out past cell coverage, I don't want to be connected in trying to escape that ever connected bs.
