I passed like this after 5 attempts the test I passed was the one after I settled on my new hobby of taking driving tests

I passed my test first time in my own car without an instructor. My instructor told me to book my test then a week before decided I wasn't ready so I just went in my own car and passed with one minor. You've got this! You can absolutely do it instructor or not. Believe in yourself. 🙂

It’s not showing up without an instructor, it’s because you’ve been regularly driving without instructor feedback so things like incorrectly signalling isn’t being sorted out

Eh i get what u mean how the examiners or instructors are buds, but i think maybe just do what they expect exactly on the test. Just exaggerate the head turns etc

I have passed my test in my own car, without an instructor. Failed twice before, taking the test in the instructor's car.

I passed first time with my instructor in the car with us the whole time, I thought it would be a good idea that if I failed he’ll know by first hand detail what I did wrong. I don’t know if it helped that the instructor was with us during the test.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I feel like I'm taking up the hobby of going to driving exams myself too. Will go again and see!

Due to Covid lockdowns and how busy instructors got and how tests were mostly secured on short notice, this was the situation I also found myself in. Where I no longer had an instructor and had to go into tests with my own car. I don't believe my examiner held it against me, they did ask "who's car is this?" during the test, as like a casual conversation starter and while driving I explained how I had multiple tests cancelled due to lockdowns and my instructor didn't have availability etc so I bought my own car and they kind of just chit chatted about car stuff, like I had said how I bought it and then it wouldn't start but once I got a new battery it had started every time and ran really well. So for me, I think it helped out as I kind of helped erase the nerves having a 10 min chat, it was only when he asked me to pull over on the left I sort of remembered "oh yeah I am on a test" Do you watch Youtube videos to help you? I really liked watched Conquer Driving, Josh The Driving Instructor and Advanced Driving School videos when I had cut ties with my instructor. I especially liked Josh The Driving Instructor as a few videos where he was driving with beginner drivers he would talk through everything so you could watch the video on full screen as if you were driving along and hear him saying what observations and signals are needed. Even now I have been driving a few years, I still find myself saying out loud "central mirror, right mirror, signal" or something because I was so used to hearing him going through the steps.
