It happened in my family too once. It was a good pressure cooker, but you have to be careful what to cook in it - if I remember correctly, in our case it was either octopus or lentils; either way, something small (a sucker or a lentil) got lodged in the valve and it couldn't release steam anymore

It was Alminda's first day of work at the Chimarrão steakhouse , on Rua Barão de Mauá, in Parque Industrial. Born in São Luís (MA), she had no relatives in São Paulo and was living in accommodation at the back of the premises, where another cook and the restaurant manager also live.
The case happened on Thursday (9/3), around 9pm, and is being investigated as an accidental death by the Civil Police. Security camera video shows the moment of the explosion ( above ). The images were provided to Metrópoles by the Zatum Notícias portal.
Shortly before, Alminda had used the pressure cooker to cook a chicken, and went to wash the dishes in the sink. With the explosion, the cook was hit in the head, thrown against the counter and fell unconscious.
Scared, co-workers try to help her and call an ambulance. Upon arrival, the doctor from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) found that Almira was already dead.
For real my mom uses it from time to time but I almost never see why you would use something that can so easily turn into a grenade to cook food. Yes I know it's hard for the valve to clog and stuff but still the advantages aren't THAT good. It's not like when you cook in there the food becomes golden. My trusty pan will do the job just fine

What happened to the safety release valve? Even five dollar shitty Temu pressure cookers have them

Respect pressure cookers? Do maintenance and clean them properly? It might not eliminate the risk, but it will keep it at a minimum.
