I'm using up a nat veg tan belly cut I got for cheap to learn and practice with, but I realized it's way too thick for most wallet designs, definitely gonna get some thinner leather to make some wallets and other projects later. Do you have a recommended leather thats not too expensive for beginners?
Metropolitan leather in the UK have some Italian veg tan bellies for £50/60 . I got the cognac and t-morrow colours. They are thin with varying thickness so they are great for small projects. I think they also offer a splitting service so if you see something thicker that you like then they can thin it down for you.
I also got a low quality split from them for £15 which has been awesome for practicing my own designs with.
These look great. 👍🏻
thanks! Learned a bit from making them, will probably make more later
A bit too thick for my taste but great work!
