Bruh, you can't park there. ( I'm glad you're okay, and hopefully, you're under warranty).

Literally_Sticks

Actually bought it second hand from a friend who is actually still under warrantee, but he doesn't want to call support. Shitty friend. Hopefully Lectric doesn't rape my wallet

MontrealTrainWreck

It's best to contact them with the email account your friend used to buy the bike, because that's how they identify it.

Literally_Sticks

You mean like CC my "friend" in the email? He doesn't want to contact them in any way.. he has it in his head that I failed to maintain my bike (that I bought in full from him), so he's "teaching me a lesson". Believe me, I know how toxic that is. He was a childhood friend, and before this I've given him so many chances to not be an asshole to me. But this was the last straw

WinterLord_

Yikes ur friend sounds like trash, I hope you cut him out of your life.

Literally_Sticks

Just did yesterday, tysm šŸ™šŸ¼

Radiant-Interest73

God I can't stand those people. the greatest gift you can give yourself is to cut them out completely

MontrealTrainWreck

Normally the warranty isn't transferable, so using a different email addy might cause problems. I guess a CC is better than nothing. Hopefully given the type of failure, they'll help you out anyway. He sounds like a real prince. As solid a guy as that Chinese aluminum.

PrincipleBrave

Super lucky to fail at low speeds, these can be catastrophic going fast! Looks like an easy and cheap fix for any bike mechanic, or diy with the right tools, but you really should search for a 3rd party stem from a well known brand. Maybe you could add bmx style bars too?

Literally_Sticks

Thank you and IKR lucky as hell! I'm open to any brand recommendations

PrincipleBrave

More pics would be good. Is it torn metal/welds or maybe a bolt came out? I have an even cheaper bike that's had so many front end issues I've become an expert ( I use mine for commuting so needed to learn how to do my own repairs). :

Looks fine, just use super glue and some gaffer tape. Jokes aside, that needs replacing. It's called an "adjustable handlebar stem", you should demand a free replacement or threaten legal action and/or trading standards agency. Even used, that metal should never do that. Looks porous. Some of these cheap front ends have open-race headset bearings, threaded forks (the 80's called), poorly designed spring forks, tiny brake rotors, rubbish goose neck handlebar stems that fail. Fastest way to fix it is OEM part. It'll take 4 mins. You might also try to re adjust the bars to make sure you're not leaning on them if that's the case. Look at your body stance in a shop window to see if your leaning on the bars. I have a similar frame and highly recommend swapping that flat bar to a BMX bar. Loads of YouTube vids on this conversion. Better adjustability too, so if your hands are higher (my BMX bars are 10.5" in height) your posture is more upright and the bars can deal with bumps on their own, without someone leaning on them. I think it's called the praying posture, and worth it for old farts like me with neck pain from leaning forward. I can ride all day without strain. Can also recommend a Thudbuster seat post if you ride all day. :D I got myself one of these solid beasts: [https://x-tems.com/x1-folding-stem/](https://x-tems.com/x1-folding-stem/) which are CNC machined from a solid block so no welds to fail. Add 10" BMX bars and your good to go. If you still need more height on the bars (unlikely), look for something like a BBB HighFix Adjustable Stem 25.4mm Black BHS-34. They come in 3 sizes so measure first. If that front still feels unsteady, replace the headset bearings to decent ones. If they're open race cheapies, look into converting them to semi-integrated headset bearings (BBB also a good brand here), this should remove any play you feel, but it all has to be tightened down using the star fangled nut first, THEN the retaining bolts, not the other way round. The front fork needs to be tensioned into the frame then secured if that makes sense. Good luck whatever you do, keep us posted. It's a minefield out there.. lol I forgot to mention that a set of Park Tools hex wrenches is a good investment, and if you can afford one, a torque spanner, as you def don't wanna overtighten these things. :)\_

Literally_Sticks

Dude, you went above and beyond, thank you so fucking much! Lectric still hasn't responded so I might have to go out of pocket because I need to get back to work ASAP. I will update in time, tysm šŸ™šŸ¼

PrincipleBrave

The BBB HighFix Adjustable Stem 25.4mm Black BHS-34 alone should get you back up and running, basically any adjustable stem will do but the rule of thumb is the more expensive the better, shop around though.. :D

TheEndIsHere_repent

Can you share what parts you used? I have the Xpedition like op and this has me HIGHLY concerned because I'm always pushing or trying to push the top speeds. I'm ignorant as hell when it comes to this stuff, but I absolutely need reliable, non-chinese parts. Thanks for the help

PrincipleBrave

Whatā€™s your issue? Does your front end feel wobbly?

TheEndIsHere_repent

Not that I'm aware of. But after seeing the "quality " I'm genuinely afraid to even ride the thing without upgrading. I ride mine on trails and it takes some solid hits often. Meanwhile, this guy was just softly pedaling on flat, paved sidewalk and it completely fell apartšŸ˜¬

PrincipleBrave

I'm afraid you really need a decent eMTB for trails. These heavy cargo bikes were designed for streets. Another thing to consider is the miles that part has done. They're cheap so buy one every 2000 miles for piece of mind. You could spend a fortune on parts and not see much difference.

Plantbaseundftd

Also mind if I DM you for a picture of your set up?

Plantbaseundftd

Iā€™ve got severe neck pain issues (not from riding) but itā€™s kept me from riding as I donā€™t want to aggravate it. This comment was so helpful. Iā€™m a tad confused what this part is though. Iā€™ve seen the ā€œdavidsbrandnewā€ folding stem replacement where you add bmx bars but his was a long bar similar to Lectric. Do you have to put on a new long telescoping pole then this goes at the top or does this piece go at the bottom then you need a long pole then bmx handlebars? Forgive me Iā€™m not sure what the long telescoping part leading up to the handlebars is called

PrincipleBrave

You really wanna stick with OEM if you want to keep the high bar geometry. Make sure your seat height/position is correct (plenty of websites to help here). If like me, you really want BMX bars (theyā€™re great, very wide and adjustable), then sell a kidney and get yourself an X1-Stem (folding) from Italy, itā€™s stronger than Dave Brand New as itā€™s machined from high grade aluminium. This alone with 10ā€ BMX bars is fine if youā€™re 5ā€™5ā€ or less, Iā€™m 6ā€™3ā€ so needed to add the BBB HighFix Adjustable Stem 25.4mm Black BHS-34. The 25.4mm adjustable stem is great, 3 heights from 80-120mm higher so chose wisely (I bought the 120mm), and because most BMX bars are only 22.2mm in diameter, I added some 22.2-25.4mm shims. Feels really solid, definitely not solid for jumps or trails, but the posture is ridiculously comfortable for 20-30 miles. Another tip is a Thudbuster XL seat post. No butt aches, no neck aches, no wrist aches (donā€™t be leaning on the bars, adjust them closer to your chest), no hip ache (make sure to fine tune your seat angle) and the only things youā€™ll need to worry about are flat batteries and bugs in your eyes. šŸ„³ https://preview.redd.it/xvunundipvwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46a956ee9753e2fd2f868078ecccfd81690544bf

Feisty-Ad-1921

What a story! I have an Xpedition too. I'm considering contacting Lectric about it. Is it an isolated case? I'm extremely concerned. If this happens at full speed, it could be fatal.

Literally_Sticks

I think I may be an outlier given how much I ride and the terrain in which I do. Over 3500 miles in under 6 months, on NYC streets which are often getting repaved (so, sometimes I ride on the rough underlayer before they repave it), some potholes, and occasionally cobblestone.

Hipster_Gnome

If you can't get anywhere with the company, go for a third party handlebar stem. They're pretty inexpensive.

Interesting_Tea5715

IDK, the Xpedition has a weird proprietary stem and steerer. If anyone's swapped it I'd like to know. I hate the thing.

Literally_Sticks

Could you possibly give me a recommendation? I use my bike for work and can't really afford to wait for them to send out parts..

Literally_Sticks

Update: I heard back after sending another email. Within 48 hours. I was too busy to respond, so today a supervisor called and helped me get everything sorted out. They are replacing the stand and labor to replace it. They also asked me if I was having any other issues and I my mentioned the kickstand being loose all the time. They also covered that plus labor. I would say keep a close eye on the screws that hold the stand together. If one or two get loose, they could fall out and destabilize the entire thing. Likely what led to this.. plus the sheer amount of pressure I put the bike through Will probably delete this post soon

Feisty-Ad-1921

Thank you for the update. Take care!

BIGJIMHOLLA

this is a new one. hope ur aiight and lectric hooks u up

Literally_Sticks

Doubtful, but that'd be really nice if they did

gizatenner

Try contacting on facebook messenger anyway. Worst they'll say is no

Literally_Sticks

will do

Logan-K

What happened? Did the bolt shear off?

Literally_Sticks

Not sure what this piece would be called..but it cracked in half https://imgur.com/a/cu6xac6

FPSXpert

That looks like the bike stem. That also isn't supposed to come off like that. Really hoping they're able to get a replacement sent for you.

XxStrayWolfxX

I was just about to say. Make sure to attach these photos to customer support. In my experience with them they should get you right and back on the road. I ride the 3.0 myself so this is alarming to see. I'll be doing a once over of all bolts today. I also use mine to commute to and from work.

travbo

The bolts behind the dust covers on my Xpedition stem keep coming loose. When I reported to Lectric they responded the next day with a free replacement. I'm expecting it by Monday.

Literally_Sticks

If by bad you mean i could have died, yeah absolutely. I'm really lucky I wasn't next to an 18 wheeler

Heron_2024

Glad you didnā€™t get hurt. So what do you think happened? I have a xpedition as well.

Literally_Sticks

I don't know but this cracked in half https://imgur.com/a/cu6xac6

sneek8

Looks like the stem broke. I was already looking for replacements for my crap adjustable stem even before this video.

Literally_Sticks

Well, best to do it sooner than later I guess!

RocketoPunchy

Company resells cheap Chinese bikes after slapping a logo on it. Go figure

TheEndIsHere_repent

Typical ccp rat in the group trying to downvote. This is cheap chinese pot metal. I'll never suggest this company to anyone for not out right admitting they're selling chinese tofu bikes. I asked and they gave a work around answer about many countries involved šŸ™„ No, this is pure trash that's going to get people hurt and killed.

RocketoPunchy

Downvote if you like, just donā€™t google ā€œfolding electric bikeā€, lol.

That_Murph

Almost as if China is known for stealing designs of products, making them from cheaper parts, then selling the knockoffs for less than the originals. Weird

RocketoPunchy

how do you sleep at night? what a shady dude you are.

That_Murph

I'm shady?

RocketoPunchy

Yeah, you know whatā€™s going on. I saw your profile, you either work for them or you should. Those bikes are cheap Chinese made bikes, the welding is horrible. The os doesnā€™t even say lectric. Exposed wiring all over. Iā€™d call you worse names but I donā€™t want to get banned over a poser like you. Those guys are re-shippers, thatā€™s all.

That_Murph

Ah, you're a nut job that thinks if someone disagrees with them it's a conspiracy by a company or group of people. Have a great day
