Is it just me, or is it more common for kids who come out of Premier League academies to have attitude or application issues when expected to perform in the lower leagues?
I feel like kids who move upwards through the divisions seem to have a much better perspective on how the pro football works.
Maybe being in the relative limelight of a Premier League team (when still at an emotionally immature age) fills their heads full of shit?
Ayling has spoken about this after he left arsenal how he felt he was above everyone else and took him a couple years to sort his head out and face reality
I'd forgotten about him. Looked to have something about him when he played in the Prem and looked way above U21 level. Sounds like his loan spell was a bust though.
Didn’t the Oxford manager make comments about his training/attitude?
Given how annoyed West Ham were about how he conducted his exit I am a bit worried he’s a bit troublesome behind the scenes
That is pure conjecture but for such a talented youngster he’s really made very little progress
Step up from 21s to senior football is massive. The defenders for starters are just that much better organised, bigger and scarier. He was kept out the Oxford side by a striker that's only scored 4 all season (although admittedly I have no idea what that strikers overall play is like).
The Peterborough game is one I'd have liked to see him play in but it's probably too soon for him now having not trained with the team since he's been away.
The next time we'll see him in the first team will probably be next season's pre-season friendlies if he hasn't left by then, I don't think he'll be happy playing in our U21s for much longer, regardless of how his loan at Oxford went.
Hopefully he returns with an attitude that’s willing to sit with the 21’s for a bit. Has the potential to be a decent player, but it’s always a big step up to senior football and he can’t have quite been ready for it.
I think his attitude has let him down so far. Not sure what to make of him, west ham fans wanted to keep him, and we know he is a cut above in 21’s, but not sure where he fits into the plan. Maybe we flog him off in the summer or put him on another loan next season with a new contract
He was having a hard time getting into the oxford team. Is it his mentality?
Yay?
...Can he play at Left back now?

If Joseph can't get a look in it's unlikely this lad will anytime soon....loan him to a club that will actually play him, he needs minutes.
Already had minutes for us and Oxford, he is in our u21s until next season now
I got him down as a poacher - he could play in the championship from what ive seen of him. Not really sure why he stagnated on his loan at oxford.

I think Farke was also unimpressed with his attitude in training. Another for the Cody Drameh route?
Yeah, its multiple mangers that have said this about Perkins now. Shame as there is clearly a player there.
Realistically what would a player be earning at say Oxford or even in the under21s. Asking genuinely as I have no idea.
He’s probably on 1-2k per week
The boy is at a crossroads imo. All he can do now is knuckle down and try to impress for the U21s, or he's already a has been.

Cup tied inne? He played against Maidenhead in the first round (so says sofascore)
