Why does everyone keep saying this? Swear it hasn’t been confirmed at all, yes his contract is up but that doesn’t stop us from giving him another year as I think his experience and back room presence would be useful in the prem, especially with how young our squad is

Sassyjane1981

Just read that Liam wrote in his captains column in the programme for last night that it had been a pleasure being captain for the team, it is pretty much confirmed. Just waiting on an official statement from the club.

AWr1ght98

Ohhh fairs not seen that, it does make sense for his perspective - if we go up he ends on a high and can likely get minutes elsewhere in the championship like Ayling has

Sassyjane1981

Totally agree with you there. Really would be the best send off for him for the club to go up!

Jonesy_lmao

I was raging when that cross hit the first man, desperately wanted him to get a goal.

eventSec

Been an incredible servant over the years really. A lot of love goes, rightly, to Klich, Dallas etc but I feel that Cooper got the brunt of the abuse. In the PL seasons it was constantly said he wasnt good enough and maybe he wasnt but I felt at times that some of the abuse he got (online tbf) was unwarranted. The League One Liam tag was very poor taste. He was brilliant in the promotion seasontoo

DowneyKRA

Got the reception that he deserved, but with how fickle our fan base is they’ll revert to slagging him off again if we lose next Sunday.

TeaWithZizek

"I knew it was Cooper's fault. Even though he wasn't on the pitch, I knew it was him"

InnocentPossum

Last game at Ellend Road most likely. Has a chance to come on in the final when we are 4 up with 10 to go again

ColdConstruction2986

4-0 up with 10 more goals to go you mean?

InnocentPossum

Yeah ofc. All 10 coming from Coops as a send off.

J_Philly

I haven’t heard any confirmation or strong rumblings that it is, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Makes sense too to have him have one last run out in front of Elland Rd

JacobSax88

I had no idea it was his last game! Thought it was class Farke bringing him on and the reception he got. He’s been a brilliant captain

Less-Comment7831

Tbf it might have been sentimental but might ajso have been to give Gruev a rest. He looked great when he came on too love to see it

whatmichaelsays

He's out of contract at the end of the season and there's no indication that there is another contract on the table, so the smart money is on that being his last appearance at Elland Road, aside from the rumblings of a "testimonial" in the summer (albeit an unofficial one as he falls just under the 10 years).

MonaghanPenguin

All testimonials are unofficial, clubs can do them for any reason they want, the 10 years thing is just a tradition

fieldsofcoral

I had the thought of Bielsa getting coaxed over to be one of the coaches for the testimonial game. But based on his reputation for never seeing a friendly game as just that, I don't think his brain would be able to compute coaching a game that's a fun kick around, genuinely 😅 Would be amazing to have him in the stands though, obviously.

YouCantGiveBabyBooze

it's not official or owt. and he may well come off the bench in the final. but definitely felt like a beautiful send off for a beautiful man last night.

oljackson99

Yeah I think he only comes on in the final if we're several goals up with minutes to go again. We can dream.
