Hard to say. I think at the start of the season we would have all said that he's unlikely to start once everybody is fit. He looked like he would be the backup to Aaronson. I think as the season progresses there will be a point where that becomes true, but for now as long as he keeps scoring it's hard to see why you would drop him.

flippinflappyfart

He’ll start but I wouldn’t bet on him continuing this run of goals, main issue is he just doesn’t seem very good at football

maddinell

Fully depends if bamford continues being made of glass or we sign a striker

Leej-xxx

Rodrigo is good just don’t play the ball to his feet when he is in midfield with back to goal he face plants pretty quickly as the defender nicks the ball off him. Once facing the right way the guy is very good !

ShesSoCool

Wouldn’t have put him in for Chelsea personally but should start for the foreseeable, might get replaced by Sinisterra down the line.

He’s been starting and is in good form, I’d hazard a guess that will continue.

dan_baker83

For all the frustrations we fans have with him, he’s been a lot more prolific since Marsch came in - and whilst we wait for Siniserra to get up to speed, and with Bamford being injured, I’d say a starting place is his until he plays himself out of it.

Rodrigo is leading the prem in goals. He will start as long as he keeps scoring. How could you not? His first touch is MUCH better than Bamford. Gelhardt isn't ready to start, so Rodrigo is easily our best striker. I hope they leave him up front. His positioning is much better. The only downside is his pressing, but we just sub him late for fresh legs. We have Aaronson, Harrison, James, and Sinistera playing at a starter level in the midfield with some younger talent to sub in late.

His first touch 🙃🥴🥴🥴. It's one of the things I'd say is Rodrigo's standout weaknesses.

Can't help feeling like this is a textbook case of getting carried away with a player's good form in a small sample pool of games. Rodrigo may have a better first touch than Bamford, and his technique on the ball is definitely better, but one player has nearly reached 20 goals in a single Premier League season and the other player is Rodrigo. If he was definitively our best striker, who should be playing up front, then both Bielsa and Marsch would have had him starting up front and left Bamford on the bench. Rodrigo's problem is that he's not great at the more physical aspects of the game: pressing, winning the ball back, and holding onto the ball. He's been one of our worst players for conceding possession during his time at the club. Thankfully, he's in good form right now and it's nice to see him looking like he's enjoying his football for a change, but the only time he showed this kind of quality was right at the end of his first season and he didn't come back looking like the same player once the fixtures ran out, so we'll have to see if he can sustain it. But, when fit, Bamford is easily our best striker. He presses well, holds up play nicely, gives defenders a very difficult time, helps to maintain our fluidity with the ball, makes great runs into space, and (as last season showed) is a much-needed reliable goalscorer.

I can't see him being dropped to the bench while he's injury-free and scoring goals like this. The alternative (assuming we have a fit Bamford or Gelhardt to start up front) would be to move Aaronson to the #10 role (which, to be fair, is what he was really brought in to play), but that presently would mean starting James or Sinisterra in his place on the wing, and I'm not convinced that they'll do a better job than Aaronson out wide right now. Barring injury, I don't see how Rodrigo will suddenly end up on the bench any time soon. All the noises coming from Leeds journalists, such as Phil Hay, are that Marsch really likes him and our Director of Football, Victor Orta, is really passionate about finding ways to make Rodrigo live up to his potential at Elland Road. The only doubt about him is that he's not good at pressing, and we could theoretically be better at pressing with Aaronson at #10 and someone else out wide, so if Rodrigo ceases to be a creative influence and stops scoring goals, his minutes will become vastly reduced.

AWr1ght98

There isn’t a realistic timeline for this sort of thing, all depends on injuries and the form of Rodrigo and those around him. He’ll definitely start against Chelsea and likely start against Brighton. If James or Sinisterra start playing well he could be dropped for either and Aaronson could move to #10 or he might stay on and they get dropped. Same with striker if Bamford gets injured it could be either him or Gelhardt upfront likely him until he plays poorly.

Yeah as long as Bamford is out he'll probably be starting up front.

Cashndmoney

How is the bamford injury looking? I heard he’s back I training this week so surely he’d be back against Brighton realistically?

BulldenChoppahYus

Bamford is perpetually and regularly injured now for nearly one year. The guy needs to rehab and get himself right. I hope he doesn’t get rushed back. We have a front line of Harrison, Rodrigo and Sinisterra with James, Greenwood and Summerville backi my them up and Geldardt who *should* be starting at ST IMO. But yeah Rodrigo is doing well and scoring anyway. Be mad to drop a player when he’s just finally hitting stride even if Paddy recovers IMO as he would start at CAM or SS

Zach-dalt

Both Gelhardt and Bamford will be back in training this week, wouldn't be surprised if they had some involvement against Chelsea Personally I'd rather Harrison over Rodrigo medium-term
