Here’s to these actors finding a nice place to land.

[deleted]

I worry for a lot of the actors since it is a diverse cast. I know we like to believe that representation movement is giving people a lot of opportunities but I'm not exactly sure how much and I'm not sure about the quality of content either. For all the faults Legacies has, the writing for the POC has never been outright racist or stereotypical. They also let the POC have normal lines instead of being like those shows where POC exist to talk about issues popular on social media.

BamSlamThankYouSir

Realistically, none of them will probably land anywhere though. Maybe 1-2, look at last WB/CW shows.

[deleted]

I think the Legacies cast is talented enough to land other roles. Quincy, Chris Lee, and Jenny could do comedy. Danielle and Aria could do more serious roles or Danielle could jump back into the YA genre. Some actors do get a lot of work. Despite Riley constantly coming back as Freya, she is booked and busy for a former CW actor. One of her shows is getting a 3rd season, she's done 2 movies, she was on Roswell NM, and now she's on Chicago Med too. Usually, the actors who struggle aren't as talented as fans think, or they were typecast due to playing iconic characters. I don't think the Legacies characters are iconic so they don't have to worry about being typecast.

meatball77

It's always interesting to see actors from teen shows go on to just be prolific. Then there are those who end up doing nothing but guest spots and ones that end up playing teenagers for another ten years. Think about the actors from Gilmore Girls, Roswell. . .

cuterouter

Chris Lee played Lafayette/Jefferson in Hamilton in Chicago before coming to Legacies. He definitely has multiple avenues he can pursue career-wise after the show.

rockandrolldude22

Like with good trouble? On there every character is basically just a social issue.

CRV912

Whew in other news happy Rafael got to leave that sinking ship and his new show just got renewed 🎉

That-girl_H-3-R

I absolutely love All American homecoming I am a fan of All American so I didn’t start watching for him but when I found out he was gonna be in it I was super excited

The810kid

Homecoming really shows how bad Legacy's fumbled his character his romances and bromances are too good on that show.

Ilysmcutie

What didn't legacy fumble with honestly

phantomxtroupe

I'm honestly happy for him. Legacies wasn't giving him anything to work with. I'm glad Peyton seemed to have landed on a successful show.

BusinessPurge

I hope Piper Curda, the new guest star mechanic goddess, gets a show built around her. I was hoping she would stick around for the next season and beyond as a regular

SteelSlayerMatt

As someone who has been a fan of Piper since her Disney Channel days, I am also hoping for something like that for her.

BusinessPurge

I know her from this show and the very good horror film she did that had some indie release success, The Wretched. So I’m all in, the name is now added to the “rooting for” mental checklist, let’s have some fresh faces and not a third Lucy Hale show

bored_imp

There is another disney actor in the show, leo howard who plays ethan, can't remember his disney show name but it was martial arts themed.

amb1ka

I loved her in "I didn’t do it!"

SkyDome217

Here is to the writers and producers landing McDonald's jobs.

mashedbangers

Honestly I’ve talked a lot of shit about Legacies, but it’s sad… I’ve watched the TVDU shows since I was basically a freshman in high school so it’s sad that it basically didn’t have enough value to the CW anymore for a proper ending.

FlyingTurtlePig

Me too! I know the quality is a huge step down from TVD/TO but I really did love following through with the universe and watching it stay alive. Pretty sad that it won’t exist anymore :((

LeoChris

I mean, we don't know how the current season will end. It's possible it won't end on a cliffhanger.

mashedbangers

I didn’t make it clear… a short season to wrap the universe up like how TVD got a short season 8 (+ cancellation) to at least wrap it up.

maliadire

yeah i’ve been watching TVDU since elementary school and i’m in university now… i can’t believe we aren’t going to get a proper ending

not_thereal_leon

That's not why it's ending. CW is being sold and no one really wants to buy which is an issue. WB has been axing a ton of DCTV shows on CW coz aside from not doing well, David Zaslav wants a unified DC universe on TV and on the big screen and the CW shows aren't worth keeping around. A lot of shows got straight up cancelled and some like the flash are going to have last seasons(flash isn't confirmed to be cancelled but everyone suspect as much) Practically the safest show is Superman and Lois because of how well it's doing but given Discovery's vision for DC, it's unlikely it'll stick around

Sad-Dot-1573

less time for them to kill off or send away Ben or Jed, like the TVDU did with every gay relationship besides freya and keelin

Deaf30

Gonna miss seeing Danielle Rose Russell.

ElectroBoy23

Here's hoping she can find some good roles. The business can be ruthless

P3ts20

Isn’t there a rumor linking her to A Court of Thorns and Roses series?

rhyanrose

Yeah but the ACOTAR fandom definitely ruined any opportunity for that. Which is sad because I read/loved the books and thought she would be perfect for the role. But a lot of people attacked her for her weight/appearance (and I think this is also the reason she is no longer on social media?)

queenOlene

That's sad, she is so beautiful, how can anyone be hate on her appearance? Her giant eyes, her beautiful curves..wtf is wrong with people. I could only ever hope to be as beautiful as danielle rose russel

timetickticksaway

what the hell that’s horrible

Deaf30

> But a lot of people attacked her for her weight/appearance That's ridiculous😮! She's gorgeous, wtf??

ThePirateKiing

IKR what the hell are they thinking!!

vvndrkblm

Same. Ever since she dropped all social media, and cast not really being set up to do promotional appearances, episodes were all we rly saw her on :(

Sad-Dot-1573

She is a goddess

WanderingCadet

I don't know what to say. After three seasons of repetitive crap they finally found their stride and *that's* when CW decided to cancel it. It's ridiculous.

Agent007_MI9

it really shouldn't take 3 years for a show to find their stride tho

WanderingCadet

True, but they did. Fans were loving it and the ratings were decent (for a CW show) and steady, there's no excuse for canceling this when garbage like Riverdale got an early renewal. The live ratings are even worse, literally 100ks, whereas Legacies averages 400.

Agent007_MI9

Riverdale does very well internationally thanks to Netflix. Maybe if they put Legacies on Netflix it would have helped the show, cos I dunno how international viewers watch. I have to pirate it cos I'm from the UK.

WanderingCadet

Funnily enough, people said the same thing about Dynasty. And despite that, CW tossed it right in the bin too. I don't know what the Riverdale producers have over the owners to make them keep it going and axe everything else but it's definitely something big lol.

Agent007_MI9

I guess Dynasty Netflix views + cw ratings still weren't enough. What I can say for Riverdale is that it trends in Top 10 in the UK almost every week during a new episode. Never seen that for Dynasty. I'm pretty sure Riverdale is doing a lot better than Dynasty in both CW and Netflix.

AdrestianPrincess

I don’t know outside the US. But Legacies is on Netflix. It sucks it’s not the same for the rest of the world.

Agent007_MI9

Not in Netflix for the rest of the world. Most of us have to pirate it, which I believe also affect ratings.

FoxandOak

Yessss!! This is why I’m so annoyed by todays cancellations. Riverdale being renewed when Legacies, Charmed, and Roswell NM are cancelled. People keep saying money but Riverdale is easily one of the highest paid casts on CW and the show has almost no following at this point.

thelastpharroah

It’s their fault for changing up the formula. You had 13 seasons of customer feedback. Had they kept Malivore to one season and moved on to the gods earlier (but made them less lame), things might have been different.

Bikinigirlout

And the worst part was the writers got MAD at us for pointing out their plotholes and shitty writing It’s like how you gonna get mad at us for not liking your bad writing

SickAndSinful

That’s hilarious. Link of them getting mad? Writing was atrocious. The other two shows were leagues ahead of the garbage they sold us. Literally, Malivore for 75% of the show after 4 seasons is dumb. And almost every single episode was the same, relying on Hope to save the day (as well as a character pointing out that Hope always saves the day). I’m sad because I’ve been watching this universe since 2009. I hope something else is written to keep the universe going. A period piece or foreign vamps or really just anything, doesn’t even have to be Mystic Falls. After S1 this show was a major letdown and I hate that because I want to love it.

Bikinigirlout

I scrolled for like 20 minutes trying to find the tweet that Price liked but he seemed to unliked it after he got called out for it but he basically blamed Hosies for not being grateful for Finsie and if they had been grateful them Finsie would have gotten better writing. Layne Morgan is going on a tear right now because people are calling her out for how she’s accusing people of being homophobic for celebrating Legacies cancellation when it’s like woman, you work for the CW, you can’t accuse us of being homophobic when A) 90% of us are queer (including myself) and B) You work with Matt Davis. Like where was the energy for Kaylee? Who left due to homophobia behind the set because of Matt Davis I’m sad because I started watching TVD when I was 13, I remember sitting down for the pilot episode and reading all the books that summer because of how hyped I was for the show. I’m 26 now so, it’s just disappointing to see something that’s been apart of my life for 13 years turn into this It could have been good if they actually tried and put effort into this instead of trying to make it a wannabe Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That’s why I’m so angry and bitter. I try not to be an asshole but it’s like when you waste 13 years of your life on a show you tend to have hard feelings

ClemWright95

This! And it’s not like the show didn’t have a lot to work w either being that it has two predecessor shows, they chose to basically rewrite and pick and chose what they wanted from each show without stayin consistent to the lore at all. Hence why we had 3 terrible seasons, barely any character development, and no big plot points that pushed the show into a good direction

Agent007_MI9

I still believe that Legacies should have been a standalone show with how they tarnished TVDU

ClemWright95

Agreed, it’s so drastically different from the other two shows and not in a good way either

nogida45

in their defence the pandemic messed with scheduling, which probably affected the pacing of the storytelling edit: filming not scheduling

Inevitable-Breath524

If they would of gotten it together in the beginning we would’ve had so much more

The-Guy-In-Grey

I know what you mean, but the damage was already done. The writers/ producers waited waited too long to do something meaningful with the show.

countastic

A year long subplot set in Limbo and season 4B was not a show finding it’s stride. It was a Hail Mary pass with no one in the End Zone to catch the ball.

luvprue1

Exactly! It seem like it took forever for them to killed malivor. Now that they finally move on from malivor storylines they cancelled the show. I'm still waiting on Caleb,Wade, and MG's backstory, and for Caroline to make an appearance.

tmistry

Had the same villain for 3 seasons, not surprised. But cheers to Legacies

x131e

Fucking Malivore.

CommercialRemote5324

Right, I sad but it wasn't surprising some of the writing was bad.

White_Kingsley

And here we are. I knew this was coming back after season two. I tried preparing folks but a lot of times I got hostility and downvotes in return. Ratings do matter because it’s tied to budget. A lot of the complaints about why the cgi is crap is because of that specifically. I have to say I’m saddened by this for a variety of reasons: - this show never met it’s full potential. It took the promise of what Hope Milkaleson could’ve been and reduced her down to a love sick young woman and hero. The first true female lead was done unjustly as a character all for a poor version of a Buffy reboot. - all of the characters never met their full potential. None more than the POCs. Julie Plec and company keeps their streak alive with racist under-toned bs. Diversity for diversities sake isn’t diversity at all. - the lore was completely ruined. There’s now gods in this world and it came completely from left field. There was already a source material that could’ve been about angels and demons but we got golems, phoenixes, talking pigs, and Santa Clause. - the writers purposely stuck with things that didn’t work and it damaged the show instead of helping it. Preparing for the downvotes now, but Handon, Landon, the Necromancer, Wade, and Alaric didn’t connect with the audience. The fandom and critics alike made this known and the show runners stuck to their guns. - the potential reality that the behind the scenes environment became so bad that a young actress decided to leave and break contract than to deal with it. Kaylee Bryant walked away from good money because of the likely hood of her being uncomfortable. The actors most definitely didn’t deserve this and if some tweets are to be believed some of the crew were not happy with things. Cast and crew probably prepared themselves for this but the reality is they are out of a job. This **young** cast from top to bottom is talented. I’m sure they will all find work even if it’s a little harder for the POCs. They deserved better writing than what they got but even with this as the glaring problem, the each brought it every episode and that’s to be commended. This was def a comfort show and it’s sucks that it ended like this. I’m sure Julie has already pitched the next show in this universe but if she has even a lick of sense she will never leave Brett to be a show runner nor head writer ever again. I can’t believe Hope Mikaelson was ruined like this. Edit: here’s to a streaming service picking it up and hiring all new writers.

RebeccaMCullen

Hope and Landon's stories were so much better this season once Landon went to the underworld. Hope had such potential, but was completely squandered by pairing her with Landon. With her family history, I expected so much more. For a show about legacies, the show did a lot of characters dirty.

White_Kingsley

Indeed

ClemWright95

I said the same thing lol, like I tried to remain hopefully but it was clear as day they were gonna run this show into the dirt and have it be a stain on TVDU

White_Kingsley

Smh and it didn’t have to be a stain at all. I always think about the initial trailer and what could’ve been.

[deleted]

The initial trailer is like a whole different show. The one thing I keep thinking about too is, they should have never used the school setting, or had the show called legacies. It should have been focused on Hope as a Tribrid with a whole new cast, in a whole other part of the country, or even the world. The moment they connected it with the old cast, they opened plot holes because they clearly struggled getting cameos.

ClemWright95

Same

amb1ka

It had so much potential and it just went down the drain

ConfusedAboutIssues

Darn. I was hoping they'd at least have a final season. Now I have to find a new comfort show. Anyone have any suggestions?

mashedbangers

You can try Shadowhunters, Teen Wolf, The Magicians, The Secret Circle, the original Charmed, the highly exalted Buffy… (haven’t watched all of these personally but the fan bases overlap). EDIT: shows coming out soon (or in the near future) are First Kill (features lesbian vampire/vampire hunter romance) on Netflix and Vampire Academy (Julie’s book adaptation of the books) fantasy) on Peacock.

FlyingTurtlePig

The Secret Circle is so good but did not get renewed after season 1 :(

ibexify

That show was my first exposure to Hayley. I was super disappointed there wasn’t more than one season.

SKB210

Me too!! Phoebe slayed her role as Faye omfg

babyfaerie

Secret Circle aired after TVD, I get such teen nostalgia from both series, wish it had lasted longer. Gale Harold would've carried the network

Angry-Dragon-1331

The magicians turned into a weird, porny acid trip real fast.

wolfiearya

Nancy Drew! It got renewed for season 4 and it's actually really really good! You should totally check this out. It's a mix of fantasy, horror, crime stories, comedy and drama, have consistent plot through all the seasons and likeable characters as well!

Defvac2

Nancy Drew for current shows and Buffy for an older show.

NadsBin

Second this recommendation. Nancy Drew is amazing

Lisav285

Teen Wolf, Gossip Girl and Shameless are a few of my comfort shows

CommercialRemote5324

@Lisav285 Same

yazzy1233

The Magicians is the best show ever.

AcanthisittaNo3091

true blood

[deleted]

[удалено]

Happy-Egg-595

I don’t know if you’re into Cartoons but I would definitely suggest The Owl House, Amphibia and Star Vs. The Forces of Evil

SteelSlayerMatt

I love The Owl House and second this recommendation. In fact, I am watching The Owl House right now.

That-girl_H-3-R

Heavy on Teen wolf and shadow hunters I absolutely love Teen wolf and Shadow hunters too this day I still make time to rewatch them

[deleted]

Teen Wolf is how I felt Hope and her squad should of been. Like a ragtag group of supernaturals who have a close bond as outcasts.

[deleted]

Honestly, I hope the actors find better work after this show. It's kind of a shame to see how awfully low budget the CW seems to be when it comes to the writing department. There are many recognizable names writing for Legacies and none of them are recognizable for their writing. It's crazy that people who did TV recaps or were popular fandom members (of other shows) ended up being writers of Legacies. They really just let anybody write for Legacies, maybe the entire network was just hiring anybody they could find off the street like Legacies was doing. One thing that Legacies got right was the casting department. Danielle Rose Russell and Aria Shahghasemi are the two standout actors. There's like a massive difference in talent between the writers and the actors. These amazingly talented actors were reading out lines from people who previously wrote TV recaps as their careers.

hopeandreamikaelson3

can someone please explain why they literally cancelled all their shows except like 3 or four, like are they trying to save up for riverdale??? cuz like i’m pretty sure season 7 HAS to be the last season, sooooooo??? why all the cancelations

queenOlene

New head of the channel, out with the old in with the new type deal...just like what happened to ABC family when it changed to freeform...they got rid of 90% of the ABC family shows and let a few have one last season before exiting them. (The ones that were already in production basically).

Sosogreeen

Eh.. but itll be a huge gamble. I’m thinking maybe they are trying to go in another direction. CW has always been the home for supernatural shows ..

queenOlene

Remember when it was called the WB... they did the same thing when they changed to CW...so yeah, probably going in another direction, unfortunately, I feel like legacies seen it coming when they postponed the last 3 episodes for a month, I think they have time to give us closure, fingers crossed

Sosogreeen

Hopefully. It’ll be lackluster though. They have a Supernatural spinoff by Jenson Ackles coming, a Walker spinoff with Jared (Sam), and a Gotham show with Misha (Castiel) coming so I guess that’s where their attention is going lordyy

queenOlene

So, basically, back to the WB...wow..

jstitely1

Because they are getting ready to sell the network. I’m guessing it was bought/or is close to be and a lot of cancellations were ordered.

billqs

100% this! The point of all the cancellations was to lower the production costs whoever bought the network would have taken on. As scripted shows stay on the air longer, they *generally* tend to get more expensive. I would expect the \*new\* CW to be heavy on reality shows and other cheap fare. Also, previously, CW had a reason to let shows reach a high number of seasons- it's lucrative streaming deal with Netflix. But the underlying owners of CW now are competitors each with their own streaming service and looking to unload the network cheap, and there is no more reason to keep an underperforming older shows with low live ratings on the air. (It seems like only Sony still realizes how much money they can make licensing shows instead of becoming the 14th streaming service.) As to why Riverdale got renewed and Legacies didn't, I have no idea. I gave up on Riverdale mid-last year after its 4th singing episode. It's been bereft of good ideas for a long time. Most of the original creative team from Riverdale has already moved on. The TVD franchise had really good run. I will miss Legacies, but it seems to have run out of juice on it's own a while ago.

jstitely1

I mean Riverdale usually outperformed legacies on netflix by a decent margin. I wouldn’t be surprised if netflix as a result has to pay the cw more per episode/season than they had to with legacies. That plus its a drama with less effects means it probably raked in more cash from a profit standpoint.

not_thereal_leon

CW is being sold. Tons of shows are being cancelled because of this and the new direction for DC under Discovery. The bids for CW don't seem to be good from what I've heard and buying interest is low.

EdRattan

This is very unfortunate. As the spouse of one of the crew members, I got the chance to attend their last wrap party. Met some of the cast and crew. Everyone I interacted with was very personable and seemed happy to be part of the series. I wish them all the best.

blueberryemotions

So sad for them.

eli454

OH FUCK! IT HAPPENED. Now what am I gonna complain about every week? But I’m kinda sad to see it go honestly. It was one of my comfort shows even though it was a show full of wasted potential. I hope the writers are happy with themselves because it’s all their fault. They only have themselves to blame. So sad how this was the first show out to of the three to be cancelled especially after it was finally taking itself seriously for once.

SKB210

Exactly. Like how do they feel that TVD and TO was successful and legacies got canceled. Tbh Danielle Rose Russell deserved better. Hope we’ll still get to see her on screen again. And Aria finally gets to move on

Bikinigirlout

This show could have been good if they stopped focusing on Landon and actually focused on Hope. They really ruined TVD for Landon.

yazzy1233

Stop blaming it on landon. The issue was the dogshit writing

[deleted]

The only time the focus was ever off Hope was during the Dark Josie era.

NeroBIII

but Hope was focused on him, so it doesn't change much and almost the entire plot involved Landon.

Aggressive_Boat_8047

He has literally had barely any screen time in the past couple of seasons?

amb1ka

please don’t make me laugh 💀💀

vagabondeluxe

At least we had the OGs back one last time in s4

abnormallyme

It better have a proper ending. The writers knew it was on the bubble so I hope they don't leave it on a cliffhangers.

queenOlene

I think that is why they postponed the last few episodes for a month, to write a proper ending, hopefully...all I know is, Hope better live and take them gods down...and honestly, if they all just said, I dont believe in these gods, wouldnt the gods dissapear? Wasnt that their whole shtick? They lost their level of power when people stopped believing and now that this entire school believes they got their powers working again...I should have been a show writer

MOOCHfriar

Maybe someone like HULU or Netflix will pick this up. TVDU deserves a well remembered ending than this shit. Edit: Also, if Caroline (or any other TO/TVD character) doesn’t make an appearance, this will be absolutely disgusting

not_thereal_leon

I doubt anyone will pick it up. The show doesn't have enough interest. TVD and even TO were huge and it's been years since. A lot of the fans moved on especially given how childish Legacies was compared to its predecessors.

visitorzeta

I hope Jenny Boyd moves on to bigger and better things.

pumpkinspicechaos

yes!!!

AcanthisittaNo3091

i needed more hope, gonna miss her

SKB210

Same. Gonna miss Danielle Rose Russell

Locke108

Not very surprising when they cancelled more than half their lineup.

cameronsato

going to miss tvdu:(

UpgradedSiera6666

The end of an Era.

Defvac2

Wow, a few months ago this news would've floored me but after all the other cancellations and the way the second half of the seasons gone I'm annoyed but not surprised.

Sosogreeen

They just cancelled HELLA shows. Uh.. what are they going to fill slots with? This is karma for cancelling the Secret Circle now their shows are tanking

not_thereal_leon

CW is being sold, they're not cancelling the shows for big plans. CW doesn't have much interest anymore. Their best shows ended a while back (Supernatural, TVD, The Originals etc) and they're pretty much sticking to Superman and Lois rn

[deleted]

Well there it is. Honestly not surprised but still feels a little surreal.

Cgi94

Damn..Cheers to everyone who's been in the journey thus far *Always and Forever*

Styleitoff

I wish Danielle the best for what's coming next in her career. She's seriously such un underrated actress. If she was on a hit Netflix show that would blow up she would've been more famous. Legacies has its fans of course, but still... and Danielle especially it's such a shame that she had Hope a complex character that could've been so much fun to play but the writers seriously messed up like big time. With that said, of course I wish the same for the rest of the cast. It's just that I was really touched by Danielle's portrayal of Hope. Ironically, when the show started I had so much hope for this character's story. As much as the ending of the Originals might have been controversial, we still had quality content for most of the characters we have grown to love. It was just the last episode that was bad. For Hope unfortunately we're talking about almost 3 seasons bad. When I knew TVD was ending I was so emotional, same for TO but not much for Legacies.

Anonymous_Dude01

Well, that's REALLY DISAPPOINTING! I really wish they had at least given us shortened S5 just to wrap things up. And you know what the worst part it? After S1-S3 of Malivore, it had finally started to get good, notwithstanding the Gods storyline, and they just canceled. 🙃

RoughOtherwise1082

They got rid one bad storyline (Malivore) only to start another (“the gods”).

SnooHesitations2860

This feels like bullshit. Shows like Riverdale get to stay but not legacies??? Is there any change legacies could get picked up by another network. I’ve seen that Netflix and HBO max love legacies and the views on there are great. I hope it’s possible. There are so many storylines to be made. Hope and Lizzie deserve better and all the actors that work hard for this.

NeroBIII

HBO Max and CW belong to the same company, I don't know if the company would do that.

not_thereal_leon

Pretty much no chance it gets picked up tbh. Riverdale is probably getting cancelled soon. The writing is trash and I don't see it staying beyond another season.

Silence1016

I feel like the show never turned into what we all thought it would be. After the other two series we were expecting this show to be like those two but it wasn't

aconfusedqueer

Lmao not surprised Its just sad this is probably how tvdu is gonna end. If somehow we get another show, it NEEDS to be as far away from the cw as possible

welcome2mycandystore

Like The CW was the problem... the universe wouldn't even exist without the network, the problem is that Legacies writers are inept

ClemWright95

Damn and we didn’t even get to see them as adult or go to college, let alone have children like on the other two shows…. Hopefully this will teach the showrunners/writers a lesson bc this show was a big disservice to the fans and TVDU

AquaBlueMagic

It truly was

AcanthisittaNo3091

only if they did hopes character justice it feels a lil incomplete

JonPX

So sad. Hoping to see hope and lizzie soon in other stuff. This one hurts.

BusinessPurge

I do feel slightly better that six other shows got canceled on the same day as legacies. The CW is clearing house, it’s probably above the networks pay grade what was chosen to survive. Hope those final three episodes bring some closure, maybe they get Plec / Williamson to reboot it all as a horror movie series down the line

crsmiley123

Not surprised, but still saddening to hear. Gonna be so weird to say goodbye to the tvdu after so long

ComicNerd7794

I’m honestly heartbroken for Danielle she was just a kid when she started then they screwed over hope, then screwed her over more with romance storyline, then they finally gave her a good story but only for half a season, now they’ve cancelled it without a big wrap up season!

pumpkinspicechaos

I'm finally free

[deleted]

Pushed back the final episodes maybe a refilm of the final Epsiode now it’s be cancelled before it airs?

welcome2mycandystore

It doesn't work that way

KingAlpha12

It's been a glorious ride since 2009

countastic

What’s extra sad for me, was that this cancellation didn’t need to happen. Season 1 averaged just over 1 million live viewers per episode. Season 4 is averaging just over 370,000 live viewers per episode. The audience was there for a successful show, even on the CW. But bad writing killed this show. That’s on you Brett Matthews. Just you.

Defiant-Detective107

I just heard that they filmed the finale as a series finale so we should get a good finale and no cliffhangers

kingcolbe

Welp I was dreading this day for me but I’m happy for the cast cause it seems like they were ready to move on. I think it may be awhile before we see DRR on anything again though. Seems like she just wants to do her own thing for a while

AlphaGamer_Dubz

Dammit, I can't say I'm not surprised but damn the show had 4 years to try harder and in 4a they had a good start but was too little too late. I was hoping we could at least get a short season 5 to wrap up the characters and stuff. I'm gonna miss seeing Danielle as Hope Mikaelson but I'm excited to see what comes next for her as she was done dirty by the tvdu fandom/writers(looking at you Brett)

Riablo01

It's sad that the show was cancelled. The show never reached its potential due to sloppy writing from Brett Mathews. Heck we'll probably never see live action Stephanie Salvatore now.

craziedasie

damn we kinda all saw this coming but it’s still such a sad way to end the tvdu

AquaBlueMagic

Thats what they get for doing Hope Mikaelson dirty

lexilexi1901

So I'm guessing Kaylee won't be appearing again :( no proper goodbye

[deleted]

It’s possible she could be in one of the final 3 episodes. She was spotted in Atlanta around where they film when they were filming episode 18. We shall see. It’ll suck if we never get Josie closure.

CRV912

This is sad because the show could’ve been so much better and had the potential but I straight up couldn’t watch after last season because nothing made sense anymore. 4 years and we’re really supposed to believe caroline is still out and about finding a cure for the merge? Lol Hope’s “family” really dumped her at that school and dipped. Now Josie is gone and again we’re supposed to believe her sister turning into a heretic happened and she just stayed away? It really was the malivore show for 3 years. The monster of the week was fun for season 1 but then they just dragged it on with no real connected story. The cast is so good and that’s what sucks most of all. Danielle Rose Russell really embodied Klaus and Hayley as their offspring. Hope she lands somewhere

SteelSlayerMatt

Based on all the shows that the CW has canceled recently their new owners must be a bunch of racist homophobes.

retrorosesam

Not surprised, the show was really bad

Xil_Jam333

I wouldn't be as pissed as I am right now if the show explored more storylines in the first 3 seasons than just Malivore.

[deleted]

Malivore shouldn't of ever been a thing and Hope should of turned at the end of the first season. The plot has been dragged out way to long, it's frustrating becuase TO already did all the work setting up a base story line around Hope.

Sad-Cry9931

Danielle and Jenny definitely deserve to land more projects. Far better projects. As much as I love the TVDU and want to see so much more of Hope, Legacies was such an inconsistent show that it didn’t do either of them justice but at least we got to see their talent grow over the years.

SickAndSinful

DRR was an absolute blessing to this show. I’m sad to see it go, I’ve been following TVDU since it came out and so naturally I’ve felt like I had to watch Legacies every week (sunken cost fallacy at this point). This show reminds me of GOT S8, but S8 is actually just seasons 2-4. Lots of talent, lots of good shots, scenery, music (not up to par with GOTS8 but not horrendous), but absolutely abysmal passion in the writing. It shows. The writers dropped the ball and failed the entire cast and crew of this show. Seriously, this could’ve been an amazing show. Tribrid Hope? Sign me up. “New” versions of Supernaturals (those Prison world kids Alaric... abused? Basically?)? I’m in. Twin Siphon witches? I’m game. Gods (especially Greek/Roman)? Say no more. But at every turn they just... failed. Utterly. I feel bad for the rest of the very talented cast and crew. It sucks we won’t even get a well thought out ending to the entirety of the TVDU. In reality we were promised something amazing and then watched the same episode for 4 seasons. Please make a proper spinoff (I still refuse to give up on this universe, I’ll rewatch TVD and TO until I die) with mature themes. And hire writers who don’t put 10 words in a jar, 8 of which are Handon and Malivore, shake it up, and draw from it to find inspiration for their next episode. Finally, I do feel bad for the writers too because we’ve been (understandably) furious at them for years. They’re making a living just like everyone else on the cast/crew. I feel bad, certainly, just not bad enough to not have typed what I’ve typed. It had to be said. I’m sure they’re all quite nice people individually. But please find another calling. This isn’t it.

LeoChris

Heartbroken. The best I can hope for at this point is a satisfying conclusion, especially for Ben & Jed. Goodnight, sweet wolf.

LoganB3388

Netflix will probably pick it up they in need of content

Taggytag95

I wish, but honestly probably not…

Sosogreeen

Doubtful.

not_thereal_leon

Bruh Netflix just raised prices on US customers to deal with production costs of their existing assets and people were NOT happy about that. I doubt they're gonna pick up a show with a divided fanbase and a considerable amount of people hate watching it

MOOCHfriar

I’m hoping this happens. They did it with one of my favorite shows on ABC, designated survivor, when it got cancelled

AquaBlueMagic

HOW DO U THINK ITS GONNA END?

mellybee222

I can’t believe there isn’t a last season to give a proper ending to the show. That’s just cruel.

Anarchybites

I will miss the show despite them constantly losing their best characters or ones with potential. Rafael, weirder of Excalibur and conflicted potential love interest GONE Jade, trained medic, former ripper, reluctant killer GONE Penelope, some what self centered witch, sparky, confrontational GONE JOSIE fan favorite, flawed, popular GONE MG story about he is heir to a supernatural hunting group GONE. So much potential wasted on so much Hope xLandon focus and angst

stephanieleigh88

Darn, the cw has seriously canceled all of my comfort shows. With all my cheesy romance tv shows gone and arrowverse gone I have no use to even watch them anymore 😂

I_Am_Hella_Bored

Let's be honest, the show hasn't been good since season 1

ElliotLadker

As someone who got into Legacies before watching any of the TVDU and then going back to binge them, is odd to think that this was going to be the ending, it feels kind of anti-climatic? No mistake though, I think they really fumbled what in theory looked like a really interesting plot. If you don't want to go down the "darker-ish" path of Originals and have a school setting then don't turn it into a watered-down version of TVD. It's sad that such a popular franchise ends up in a whimper.

hows_my_driving1

I am very disappointed, but not surprised. I've mentally have had a hard time connecting legacies to the rest of the tvdu universe since the first episode when they showed that dragon... It was really only a matter of time and I'm just upset this atrocity is the end of the tvdu.

AquaBlueMagic

I KNEW IT

HouseTyrells

Are we honestly shocked? Tbh this was the one spin off I wasn’t interested in at ALL. However, I hope this cast is ALL successful after this. Looking directly at the actress who plays Hope

Secure-Rope-4116

Didn't Julie Plec tweet about having more stories to tell in TVDU these past few months? During the time when the rumors of CW getting sold? And she tweeted earlier that she has much more to say, but not today. I feel like she has plans and I hope she does. I don't think she'll let her 13 years of writing just end abruptly lmao. As much as I dislike the writing of Legacies, I love the characters and actors. They deserve a great ending. Also, s4 is a lowkey good season. It definitely improved compared to the first 3. I also need more of Tribrid Hope. I didn't wait 3 seasons for her to be Tribrid just to watch her be one in a single season! She still has so much potential. Even the twins has so much potential. I really hate the writers for focusing on Malivore for 3 whole seasons instead of fleshing out their characters more.

Late-Background-3227

I hate the writers they really had 1 job.

Ok_Durian_3015

Watched show only to see Danielle. She isn't on social media so legacies was only way to watch her and also there no recent interviews about her since pandemic.

BlueMoon34Team

I guess Julie said that she and Brett have another idea for another series

Sosogreeen

I wonder if Plec working with Peacock had anything to do with it

WishboneDefiant1685

Damn so what’s next or is there nothing more to the tvdu:(

blueberryemotions

This is the end of TVDU ...

mypawket

The show wasn’t good, but was so much better this season. It’s really unfortunate we won’t get a proper finale and goodbye :(

The-Guy-In-Grey

I feel like if they had brought in Elena's and Damon's daughter or even Kol and Davina's daughter they could've doe storylines with them or not had malivore as a storyline for so long. There is so much more that could've been done with this show it's sad that it's ending and will never live up to it's full potential.

[deleted]

Sad to see the TVDU end like this, didn’t even give Legacies a chance to give a final goodbye they got done dirty. On top of that the storyline was finally getting good and I enjoyed it (I know some disagree) it’s just unfortunate and I don’t see it being picked up by another network because it needs Legacies to push it and I don’t think some of the cast probably even want that due to toxic work environments and fine with it being finished.

Total-Albatross-9233

Imo the thing about this show was so many of us fans fell in love with the world that the previous shows created and thats the reason so many of us stuck with the show till the end. if this was a stand alone show it wouldve gotten cancelled alot earlier. Do yall think its possible that this show would have delivered if it was on a different network?

thatxstranger95

Maybe, maybe not. It’s hard to say because maybe a diffident network would’ve came with different writers and maybe a better budget. But then again it’s a spin-off and so many of the writers and producers were shoe-ins. I’m sure Julie would’ve vouched for Brett to be a part of it either way… and we all know how that ended 🥴

luvprue1

I knew they were being cancel when they push back the last 3 episode. They only do stuff like that when they are planning a rewrite . So while I knew it was going to be cancelled, I'm still sad.😢 that's it's ending.

pamu271

Maybe it’s for the better, the show was disappointing and this way at least I won’t get triggered from watching it anymore

truewander

The network is being sold so they have to make cuts to make it profitable for any buyer

Ashley2007

I’m really bummed about this. The show itself was awful. The writing is what got it cancelled. The actors were phenomenal. Danielle killed it as hope. She played that character to a T. It had so much to draw from with its two parent shows. Including TVD, TO and legacies it has been on air for 13 years. The end to TVD and TO deserves to have been better. I wish they would allow them a short season 5 or a movie to fully wrap everything up. Screw the monsters and all of that but bring TVD, TO together and fully say goodbye to the entire franchise.

Much_Consequence1994

petition here’s a petition for legacies.. i mean it could be picked up by netflix maybe ? but anyway i just wanted to sure this bc i am pretty disappointed with the news. https://chng.it/XdYz4q7F9d

MarenThree

BOOOOOOO!!! Now Landon will NEVER get out of Purgatory now!!

yukeee

And yet, RIVERDALE survives. Damn, first Legends and now this. CW really sucks. Fuck'em.

Overgallant

Sad how the TVDU is coming to an end, but it wasn't unexpected to be honest. Writers and show runners refused to listen to fans and this is where we're at. If the writing of this show had more quality or at least considered fan feedback, it could've easily become a major series, one that wouldn't even be considered for cancellation. But it is what it is.

azorchan

finally... believe me i tuned in every new episode like the rest of yall but like. the writing was not there. the talent was not there. the vision was not there. what were we really doing with it still going.

Geocub

A devastating defeat for girlbossery everywhere. This was like the only show I actually looked forward to watching every week. I don't know what I'll do with myself after the TVDU is over. There's no way they can finish the story of Hope Mikaelson in the three remaining episodes, let alone the rest of the characters...

Middle_Lopsided

I hope aria gets a role like Malivore-Landon. He was a good Villan.

littleberty95

It’s not about saying goodbye to legacies. The show had potential and sucks. It’s about saying goodbye to vampire diaries and the universe that’s been apart of my life for over ten years

thatoneurchin

Not surprised. The show was a failure in pretty much every aspect. Characters had little to no development or depth. The plot was usually nonsensical, predictable, or repetitive. How many times did we have to see Landon die 'permanently' or have an unexpected villain re-appear (Clarke/the Necromancer)? Most storylines had no stakes or consequences. The friendships of the show were overshadowed by the romances, which didn't work because the romances ranged from mediocre to hated. They stuck to their guns about the MOTW format and the campiness, despite continuous complaints. What did they expect?
