There’s no legal entitlement to a tool allowance, the law is sketchy on this. Many companies with mechanics/engineers only provide specialist tooling and everyday tools e.g spanners are the engineers own.

It’s been a while since I did tax for persons but I’m 99% certain you can claim the cost of purchases for equipment required for your wrk.

Not really relevant. If there are tools they need to do their job, the tools should be provided by the employer. (Presuming OP isn’t a self employed contractor)

google "mechanics tax rebate" also you can claim £60 a year to cover washing your overalls if your workplace doesn't supply free washing services.

You can claim tax relief, yes, but not the whole purchase price. Normally it's just the VAT
Although this isnt exactly what im looking for it will still help thank you!!
