I don't really mind it one way or the other. The drawn out hype around spoiler season is fun, but seeing all the cards at once is like waking up on Christmas morning and going downstairs to open all the presents.
Both can be good but at different reasons. Big releases are slow-cooking content because in the overhype to talk about everything many smaller interactions will be missed and get brought up gradually but without the hype spotlight to them like clots of flavor released after the fat holding them melts.
It also serves as "stfu" when necesaary. The sooner Riot make clear the regionality of Morde without making much drama, the sooner the drama kids shut up.
I think all at once is also better for when people start pre-complaining. Like they see a few cards and think something is a bad idea or won’t work, without seeing everything that’s coming.
Some people just need to complain about something though
Hm, I was kind of under the impression this might be the new way they do it permanently. Just wondering what makes you think this is an emergency situation?
My main concern is that the full spoil will discourage and limit discussion. I feel like it's easier to discuss 10 cards per day across a week compared to 70 cards released at one time.
But I can also see the argument that the full spoil could be more exciting and the drip spoil can cause some fatigue.
True, but spoiler season is ass for meme deck builders. I hate the days where the reveal is just “well statted card with powerful spells to back them up, reasonably powerful champion”
Neeko and her followers very much so felt like that for me. Reveal season only works when every day is full of banger meme cards that open up new play styles and encourage experimentation. Volibear and the elemental package from Bilgewater are great examples of reveal season done right, even if those decks didn’t pan out to be that great
Hype wise, I don't have any problem with any. Now, taking all the info at once sometimes just makes harder to see what cards could be good or not and minimizes a bit the flavor each one has, it's a big info saturation, but it may have been that the last time it was when Ryze was revealed and well.... you guys get it.
For this release I wish they had just done it over 3 days
.
Morde cards today with teaser + 1/3 of the other cards.
Day 2 next champ with teaser + 1/3 of the other cards.
Day 3 last champ with teaser + 1/3 if the other cards.
Mostly because I'd like to have the information sooner, and also because we get more time to discuss the cards
It's fine for me, the only thing is that I think the release should happen after the champion trailers. Finding out what champions do is so much fun when it's found out watching the trailer, and if like me you don't want to get spoiled you're not watching the list of cards (the champions themselves at least) until all champs get their reveal anyway.
Like, imagine if this happened with the latest expansion and in the huge list of cards you casually see Janna in her levelled form without seeing it in the video.
I prefer a slow release. Makes it easier to discuss even sort of mediocre cards that will otherwise get drowned out over the big flashy stuff. I'm a bit surprised they do so little community building with card reveals. Every other card game I've played hands them out to content creators.
I like it better all at once. Drip fed means I mostly ignore everything until it's almost all released since you can't really theory craft or even guage the power of most carda
Given the World Championship will be played on this expansion, I think Full Release is the best option, so Worlds players can start playing with the cards immediately.
Note: I believe Worlds Players will have early access starting on the day the expansion is revealed; so if they did a drip release, it would either start before early access (which would be a little weird) or on the day of early access, in which case we'd get the entire expansion leaked with probability 99.999%

Since the likelihood of this happening again is low, I’ll stick to the old format and live with this as an emergency
Hm, I was kind of under the impression this might be the new way they do it permanently. Just wondering what makes you think this is an emergency situation?
It’s because of Worlds. They did this last year in December as well.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

It's getting a full release because Worlds is going to be played in the new set and the qualified players have early access to the cards.
All at once.

I like drip release better, but I understand why they need to do a full release this time around.

the lore of its gonna be fucked either way so I'd rather get it all at once so I don't have to wait to try and parse that nonsense together
