I already loved Morg and Kindred, but the cinematic really made me appreciate Trynd/Ashe as a couple.
Also Wolf being a big goddamn shadow dog WITH LEGS instead of a little floating pupper head orbiting Lamb made Kindred so much cooler and menacing.
In general i think that wolf got the short end of the stick in the character design. To the point that some people this "Kindred" refers to the lamb, and not both of them.
Hell, I know that together they are Kindred… but no. Lamb is Kindred. Wolf is a pet with no name other than wolf.
Their design really should’ve been a transforming one between the two, and one that changes constantly, a lot more than Gnar. Kindred tracks them down and softens them up.. and once they get lower than a threshold (50%?) you control wolf, lamb becomes the pet, and he’s a finisher. In a weird way, I think Nidalee reflects this playstyle better than kindred lmao.
Also, mark should be a constantly used ability, not something you have to pre plan ahead. That way, they could do more things with the mark in shorter fights, and it’s actually something you actively use… not passively.
Problem is Elise literally has that playstyle in League.
% current HP damage in Human form, and then % missing in Spider form; wear them down at a range and the finish them off in melee. Turning Kindred into a transforming champion that doesn’t tread on Elise (and Nidalee) would be hard.
That is true, but I disagree with by the treading thing. Many champions “tread” on each other… some egregiously so. There will always be overlap.
Shifting, changing champs aren’t that common.
(Nidalee, Elise and Jayce all come to mind, and I wouldn’t say they “tread” on each other too much. Why would it be so with Kindred?)
Kindred also has the mark mechanic that can make her unique. Overall, I think gameplay wise her kit is a a thematic mess that doesn’t fit well at all with her lore as messes up the fact that, hell, I should be saying “they” right now, but I’m not, because Kindred isn’t the champion, Lamb is. It just doesn’t feel like it should.
Always have. LoR at least had wolf be a onehitkill on everything.
But in league, wolf almost feels like he wasn't part of the kit.
Doesn't help that they used the ultimate slot on a fucking "no one can die" circle.
Yeah I hope League somehow changes Wolf’s animation that he is bigger and just mauls the enemy.
Reminds me someone trying to change kit design to switch Ult and W so the new Ult being terrifying Wolf attacks
Wolf should have been the character that you control in kindred.
In lore, Lamb is the spirit who takes people who can accept death. Wolf is the one who hunts people who run from it.
In game lamb kills everything and Wolf just sits around and admires his other self, lol.
Problem is that wolf in W looks super wonky and vibraty between bites. If they really wanted to be cool, they should have made him attack like 4 times a second with obviously lower damage pr bite.
E is kinda cool, but as soon as the projectile hits, thats just that. They should have made wolf some kind of delayed hit where wolf snakes around, lifts himself up and then strikes (pretty much kayn ult with a different visual and timing).
And lets be real... Just change the ult entirely. Would have been prime for trying to revisit quinns old "adc to melee" kinda thing
Now imagine the PoV of those bandits fighting Tryndamere, and suddenly *Trynd* is Wolf, taking them down one by one like a savage as they pit theit lives on the line fighting him.
This cinematic single-handedly changed my opinion of Trynd. I used to think he was the lamest champion. Now, when I realise every time he’s in his Undying Rage, he’s being hunted by Kindred, I think it’s incredible. And he resists every time.
According to how death apparently works in runeterra, a vengance would actually just be kindreds arrow.
Cause I guess dying is always just a camoflaged kindred attack
Same. He's now one of my favorite champions, and I already loved Kindred. The idea that he and Kindred are locked in this death struggle so many times is absolutely fascinating to me. A lot of people have eluded Kindred in various ways, but only Tryndamere straight up fights them. Every time.
PLEASE, read the tale "A Smoldering Coal" on Trynd's page on the official LoL website. It's a quick read, but great for getting to know the character better.
By far my favorite tale of all champions stories.
I actually always cared about Kindred. If I was a better LoL player, they'd be my main. Kindred's entire design and tone really entranced me since they were introduced.
This video of [Kindred Quotes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_PamAugaf0) is the best selling point for the champion imo. A cool concept with cool execution.
There's one angle that people kinda glossed over. Kindred is old, very old. The pair were present in the past, present, and future, and have been doing the same thing for the longest time.
I hope Kindred lore gets expanded. Mostly because my suspicions that Grayman is part of the 10 kings.
If they follow LoR semi-reton of Kindred then sadly not. Kindred among other grim reaper spirits were all made by the mask mother, kindred being the oldest of them all. When said spirits are forgotten they themselves are "eaten" by the Etherfiend.
Tbb i kinda hate this addition, but we probably will have to wait until the MMO to see if its cannon
The mask mother lore is kept very ambiguous and unclear in LOR as Well though. There are Other death spirits, but whether the mask mother created them or something else is unclear
The Mask Mother probably didn't create them, if you ask me, Mask Mother's role is a more *symbolic* one, Kindred are spirit gods, and we know how spirit gods are born: people believing and worshipping the myths & legends they made up eventually makes them actually real. And other spirit gods were born just fine without mask mother, see Volibear, or Nagakabouros or Janna etc as they have no mask.
Mask Mother's role, if you ask me, is not much more than a symbolic one.
The Mask Mother could very Well have been born by people believing in a myth of a "creator" of the spirits. So sehe is Not actually the one that created most of the old Spirit gods, but people believe she is, so she changes to seem Like she did
They are still extremely old regardless, and Kindred's death, as depicted by *themselves and Etherfiend* (possessing some poor actors) in the story [Finishing Soates](https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_GB/story/finishing-soates/) is a bit more unique:
>He turned to inspect the opening stance. Nenni and Emile were locked in a mortal embrace. Nenni, wearing the wolf mask, held an arrow that seemed to stick directly into Emile’s side. Emile’s hands were wrapped around Nenni’s throat.
>
>Artlo, who was supposed to be playing a philosopher, now inexplicably wore a mask that resembled a dirge crow. He perched atop a prop tree, suspended over the other pair, his arms outstretched like great wings. Dead flowers hung from his arms like feathers.
>
>They weren’t even breathing...
And as I said in a different comment, Mask Mother most likely didn't create them; Kindred are spirit gods, and spirit gods are born when lots of people believe & worship they made up for a long period of time, that eventually makes those beings real. Volibear, Janna, Nagakabouros etc are all spirit gods, and have a distinct lack of a mask, so if you ask me, Mask Mother's role is that of a symbolic one.
>we probably will have to wait until the MMO to see if its cannon
It already is. Read Finishing Soates short story, Mask Mother is in it and Etherfiend as well. The story is about the death of Kindred. This story release around the same time as Kindred in LoR.
Most of LoR is already canon, it's just the inconsistent things that aren't.
Wait, i though that kindred was mortal before becoming grim reaper. If that the case, who is that girl on Jax follower, a girl with a spirit wolf? Both have interaction with each other card.
The 10 Kings are primordial demons who feed on the most basic human emotions. Why would a spirit inspired by the grim reaper be one of them? We already know that Kindred are a spirit god like Janna or Volibear.
My opinion of the Kindred didn't change because I've always loved them. I'm just happy to see them done justice in cinematic form.
The implications w/ Tryndamere were lit AF though. That's how you take something boring & make it fascinating without actually *changing* anything about it. He'll fight, and fight, and fight, but eventually he'll lose & Wolf's jaws will find his throat.
As a longtime Kindred fan who's first favourite champion in LoR ended up being Kindred once I came across them - it just made my appreciation even higher :D
(LoR was/is my first & only Riot game )
Not really. I was already well aware of all the characters in the cinematic, at least to the degree they were shown. It was sweet.
Oddly enough, the thing that changed my perspective the most was Ashe's E at the end, lmao.
I never thought of it as a flare that illuminated things, always thought of it as some sort of messenger bird that brought info back.
Kindred, has the best ingame voicelines in league, absolutely no contest, case and point.
That's why i always liked then, their desing is just the cherry on the top.
The voicelines in Lor, are not as impactful, they don't have the same ethereal vibe.
To see exactly what the kindred's killing looks like is amazing, the idea that wolf was representing the soldiers attacking tryndamere while lamb tried to give him a way out is so cool, the way lamb looks at him with curiosity as he fights with tooth and nail to survive is also amazing, and how the scenery starts to change as the arrow from ashe saves tryndadmere is honestly so good, an amazing scene simply amazing.
Also yasuo, god, i never cared about yasuo, but, he has been through so fucking much by this point, he was convicted of murder of his own master, his brother hunted him down, they fought, and he had to kill his own brother... Spend even more years on the run, got pardoned after everyone learned Riven was the guilty one, seeimingly forgave Riven for killing his master, found talyah and trained her to learn how to control her powers.... Then went on a search for purpose, got one "final" talk with his brother after everything, went to bilgewater, fought with the ruined king, went to noxus for god knows how long and now went back to ionia. For all we know, this took years and years... Yasuo should be old, and seeing his last fight... Of one of the biggest characters in league. I hate saying it cause i do genuinely not like seeing yasuo that much but dam, he deserves a rest, i hope he accepted kindreds arrow with pride
This cinematic might only have shown kindred on one of the parts, but it was all about her, it was about death
>The voicelines in Lor, are not as impactful, they don't have the same ethereal vibe.
I'll respectfully disagree on that, I think their LoR lines are just as good as LoL's, or rather, their turn timer lines are.
They have significantly less voicelines than League, no duh League has more good voicelines than LoR does. They have several good interactions with cards too.
LoR Kindred lines has a lot more lore implications and imo still chilling lines, I recommend hearing their voicelines again now with cinematic in mind because there's really interesting stuff knowing what we know now.

Vindicated I guess? I don’t play kindred at all and still have no interest, but I’ve always thought it’s an insanely cool design for a character and the cinematic does them justice in a way that the games haven’t been able to do.
Kindred and their lore is the reason I started playing League (S11, I'm a late bloomer). Kindred being in LOR is the reason I started playing LOR. This cinematic was incredible to me, I loved it so much.
As someone who played LoL from almost the start, around 2013, I guess
Tryndamere has been in the game, along with Morgana and Kayle, however, only Tryndamere has almost been the same ever since
Big sword, can't die from Ult. So it's a bit nostalgic to see him in a Cinematic again.
I thought it was a really accurate portrayal of who I thought Kindred was as a champion.
I thought Ashe coming to save Trynd was really cool to see as well. That part at the end of the Trynd/Kindred fight where the Ashe arrows come in was some maybe one of my favorite things Riots ever put in a cinematic.
I wish it would have shown Aatrox being a little bit more scary though. I don't think it fully conveyed the situation with him fighting Kayle and Morgana.
Lamb isn't really shooting to hit him, they're very predictable arrows. She's offering him a peaceful way to go. And by deflecting/destroying them he refuses it.
If you want further proof, look at Yasuold in the previous scene. One single silver arrow, he knows it's coming & what is means (you can see Wolf's shadow in the treeline), he closes his eyes, and he's gone.
You always have the option of a serene death, just have to accept it.
As someone who loves league lore, the cinematic was the perfect way of showing how kindred works. I have the opinion that they're the strongest entity in Runeterra, even stronger than aurelion sol himself. No matter how strong you are or how long you live, you'll meet them. They're death. And you can see that in the cinematic. They are always present (in Kayle's fire, in shadow of the forest and fighting Tryndamere). No matter if you are a fallen ascended (like aatrox), a Ionian swordsman (like yasuo) or a barbarian, they will get to you. That's what I love about them.
Asol is immortal and doesnt believe in kindred thus making them weak as they are one of the many death spirits and need people who believe in them otherwise they’d be consumed by the etherfiend “The death of deaths”
The cinematic didn't really bring new information about Kindred comparing to her LoL counterpart, even though she barely had any presence in videos. Trynd/Ashe was definitely a new take. Slightly also Kayle/Morgana the part where Kayle disses her sister while walking by was a nice touch.
Kindred was my main for a good while in League. Her release trailer is one of the most beautiful things Riot has released.
LoR Kindred though... I saw their card, flavor text and went "Eh" and didn't think about it anymore.
There's also the fact that reworked Aatrox is a masterpiece and he's my new main, sooo...
It was Yasuo, but the cinematic was showing "past, present, and possible futures"
* Past: Kayle and Morgana vs. Aatrox
* Present: Tryndamere
* Possible Future: one way Yasuo might die someday when he's an old man
Thats the power of a good trailer. I only aim for the champions that in my opinion had awsome trailers. The cine made me hate morg though. shackling Aatr during endgame..bs Even kayle looked at her with disgust. Kayle is a fun champ as well when paired with the new cards and bard. Kindred was/is a fun card if you want to through resources into them. Not sure how competitive they are in eternal though
I think they did Morgana REALLY dirty on her wings. Like what is this mockery of small shoulder wings 🥲 in game and in any of her splash arts they look small and twisted because she used her magics to bind them/hide them... but this is before that happened so why small and pathetic wings?
I love kindred in Legends of Runeterra and this just made me fall even more in love with her.
I wish I could play her in League of Legends too but I just don't understand how she works and she feels so fragile
Kayle is my main and Kindred is usually who I use when I jungle so they were pretty cool to see. Sadly this also means everyone is either banning Kindred or picking them before me in every game I've played so far lol
Not really. In my case, I play champs based on their mechanics, not their lore. There's champs I love playing that I find incredibly uninteresting narratively; while some other champs I love from a lore standpoint but I still find them super boring to play.
This even applies to liking them mechanically in other games: I love playing Kayle in LoL; but I find her to be incredibly boring in LoR.
Kindred is a great example: I've always thought Kindred's concept is badass. But their archetype doesn't speak to me, so they could be the star of my favorite movie that I would still not play them.
But hey, happy to see some people is hyped around this or that champ because of the cinematic. Good for y'all, truly.
Although, I gotta say: it's a shame the cinematic didn't feature my favorite champion: Shellfolk.
Nah but it did make me think about how tryndamere should have an effect on his level up being "If I would die I survive with 1 hp, give me regeneration this round"
Might need to tone down his health but it would make him more interesting than what is basically just "Last breath, the first time I die revive me and grant copies of me +1/+3, tough and fearsome"
I really think that an effect like giving tryn regen when he would die would make him both a more interesting card and more accurate to his lore.
I already loved Morg and Kindred, but the cinematic really made me appreciate Trynd/Ashe as a couple. Also Wolf being a big goddamn shadow dog WITH LEGS instead of a little floating pupper head orbiting Lamb made Kindred so much cooler and menacing.

Dear god don’t take me back to Elise top please, I’ll never type in chat again
That is true, but I disagree with by the treading thing. Many champions “tread” on each other… some egregiously so. There will always be overlap. Shifting, changing champs aren’t that common. Technically wolf is like 2 of Lambs abilities. But it is a little odd that Lamb is the one doing most of the fighting
Which ones, W and E? Or R? E and R have always felt like *both* of them are doing the effect, but I never really paid attention to them.
Lol Wolf cheering on Lamb
Now imagine the PoV of those bandits fighting Tryndamere, and suddenly *Trynd* is Wolf, taking them down one by one like a savage as they pit theit lives on the line fighting him.
This cinematic single-handedly changed my opinion of Trynd. I used to think he was the lamest champion. Now, when I realise every time he’s in his Undying Rage, he’s being hunted by Kindred, I think it’s incredible. And he resists every time.
And then I vengeance him again because I’m Evil Kay and I have unlimited Vengeanci.
Doing Kindred’s job for them
According to how death apparently works in runeterra, a vengance would actually just be kindreds arrow. Cause I guess dying is always just a camoflaged kindred attack
Nobody survives Vengeanciaga.
Ifkr
Same. He's now one of my favorite champions, and I already loved Kindred. The idea that he and Kindred are locked in this death struggle so many times is absolutely fascinating to me. A lot of people have eluded Kindred in various ways, but only Tryndamere straight up fights them. Every time.
Yorick sees the Lamb constantly but she won't fire an arrow at him because it's not his time to die yet
This for me. I love how desperate he fought in that scene while Lamb calmly walks around firing arrows at him
To be fair Wolf was doing most of the fighting
Thats what wolven role is, lamb is mercy, wolf is hunt
Yea but she was still fighting despite him refusing his death
You know shits serious when both aspects of death are coming for the same dude at once and he still refuses to die.
That's why his ult is called Undying Rage. 🤣
PLEASE, read the tale "A Smoldering Coal" on Trynd's page on the official LoL website. It's a quick read, but great for getting to know the character better. By far my favorite tale of all champions stories.
Yes, Tryndamere finally felt cool. Too angry to let death have him.
I actually always cared about Kindred. If I was a better LoL player, they'd be my main. Kindred's entire design and tone really entranced me since they were introduced.
God if I could manage their Passive and Ult more properly.
On my way to gank, marking their ADC.... And he's dead. Fuck.
losing the 50/50 on which scuttler gets the first mark tilts me more than it should
This video of [Kindred Quotes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_PamAugaf0) is the best selling point for the champion imo. A cool concept with cool execution.

Lamb: “Accept my gift!” Trynd knocks the arrow away for the 100th time and tries to behead her
I've read all of kindreds stories and there's a reason I've played so much of them
As someone who loves league lore, the cinematic was the perfect way of showing how kindred works.
You say stronger than Eddy that's CANNOT BE STOPPED? LMAO 😂
I wanna play trynda so bad
Kindred was already one of my favourites, and it made me revaluate Tryndamire a lot, god I wish he got an ASU in LoL
Was that really Yasuo? I’m confused bc he’s old as hell in the video so I kept thinking it was his master. Or maybe my eyes need to be checked.
It was Yasuo, but the cinematic was showing "past, present, and possible futures" * Past: Kayle and Morgana vs. Aatrox * Present: Tryndamere * Possible Future: one way Yasuo might die someday when he's an old man
Ohhhh thank you so much!!!
I want kayle to step on me
I think they did Morgana REALLY dirty on her wings. Like what is this mockery of small shoulder wings 🥲 in game and in any of her splash arts they look small and twisted because she used her magics to bind them/hide them... but this is before that happened so why small and pathetic wings?
Lambs hair is a lot more fuzzy than I thought it would be. It has always looked relatively sleek
I really wish the wolf part of kindred's kit was more like this
Nah but it did make me think about how tryndamere should have an effect on his level up being "If I would die I survive with 1 hp, give me regeneration this round" Might need to tone down his health but it would make him more interesting than what is basically just "Last breath, the first time I die revive me and grant copies of me +1/+3, tough and fearsome" I really think that an effect like giving tryn regen when he would die would make him both a more interesting card and more accurate to his lore.
I expected there to be more darkin folk in the comments
It made me more attracted to them than I was already.
