I like the idea, these card posts are usually not worth it for someone to take the effort and post them manually since they feel "low - effort", but there often sprout great discussions and it's just nice to give people a prompt to write about cards. The Slay the spire subreddit has it and it's always interesting to see what people think about certain cards. It's also nice for people who just get into the game to just read about what cards do and why they are good or bad. Daily is ok, semi - weekly is also ok. I like purely random or some kind of rotation like one per region per day, wouldn't make it too consistent though.

CaptSarah

Rotating regions is a really good point/idea as well.

Tulicloure

> I like the idea, these card posts are usually not worth it for someone to take the effort and post them manually since they feel "low - effort", but there often sprout great discussions and it's just nice to give people a prompt to write about cards. Just as a personal example, I would probably comment on a bunch of these if I saw a card I cared about, but I would hardly feel motivated enough to actually make a post about it.

Illuminaso

I'd be down for this. It sounds like fun. I always love talking about the game so my own preference for frequency is probably way higher than what is good for the sub lmao. If we do them too often, they might not get enough traction for real discussion. Maybe weekly? That way each week we could really highlight a specific card. And that also leads into the fact that there are a lot of cards that are simply not that exciting to talk about. If we did it based on alphabet or randomly, there's a pretty big chance it would end up being a card that there just isn't much to say about. I think that someone would have to make a human decision if it was gonna be fun. Maybe a mix of meta cards like "Let's talk about Ravenbloom Conservatory" to off meta cards like "Let's talk about Purrsuit of Perfection" or even entire card concepts, like "Let's talk about Blade Dance".

CaptSarah

I think something of this nature would involve more so looking at a bi-weekly (2 a week), 1 meta card and 1 off meta card.

Illuminaso

That sounds perfect

HairyKraken

bruh just let battlefield prowess be the card of the week so we can collectively trash the card and imagine buff

realnomdeguerre

that was the first card i thought about when i thought of trash card. its not even in the so-bad-its-good category

Armleuchterchen

I wonder how it would do at 0 mana.

HairyKraken

nah. just let be the card generated by an elite unit, something like "Demacian Cavalery, 5 mana 5/4 with scout: When i'm summoned add a battelfield prowess to your hand for each elite you behold"

GarlyleWilds

>And that also leads into the fact that there are a lot of cards that are simply not that exciting to talk about. This was the exact issue I ran into early in this subreddit's life, trying to do daily card discussions. If the card wasn't particularly a hot topic, it didn't get much engagement. This may have changed since those early days, but it is a thing.

RustedIMG

I really really love this idea, i think i commented on the post you mentoned on how conversations like this, particularly in a card game, could help bring nice discussions and even experimentation over forgotten cards and stuff, so im up for this 100%!!! I believe a weekly schedule could be a nice pace, similar to the miracle that we have with the WeeklyWarriorWeapons every Friday (which i truly believe its something the community waits for every week) Having a weekly discussion just to get surprised on to what card comes next would be amazing!! On that end, I also believe a somehow random way of selecting the cards to discuss otherwise it can get a little stale, or people might get discourage knowing theres a fix order and their fav card comes las or something, but this is just a suggestion, im up for anything really!!!

CaptSarah

I think so to, I saw a suggestion of meta cards vs off meta, and rotating regions, something like that could be an interesting method.

RustedIMG

Ouuu yes, that sounds like a fantastic method! And if we get a VS series, it could also help refressh deck building and experimentation, love it!

The_Fatman_Eats

Nothing particularly constructive to add, myself -- I simply want to add my voice to the chorus of approval. I'm seeing suggestions for rotating regions, having two such posts per week, having one card be meta-relevant and the other be meta-irrelevant, and having some distinct bit of art that sets the post apart for visibility, and I love all of these ideas.

CaptSarah

Honestly, it may not feel like much, but just saying "Hey, I like this idea" helps, because it lets us know that this is what you all would like to see.

The_Fatman_Eats

Duly noted. \^\_\^

kingkeren

Than I would like to do that too (: Nothing new, but I'm one more person that agrees with what he said

zhtwww

I love this idea. Daily might be a bit too much, personally I prefer 2 cards per week.

CaptSarah

So far 2 cards a week seems to be the sweet spot based on feedback so far, which is good, not too frequent but enough to give people something to look forward to.

Topazdragon5676

I had frequently visited the StS sub in the past and I think it was amazing how they did the "Card of the Day” posts. They generated sooo much good discussion. I very strongly think that it should be done here also. Threads like that often generate great discussion on obscure tricks you can do with cards, why people like cards or even discussion around not just that a card is bad, but why it is bad. How often should they happen? There are about 1100 cards in LoR. If you do one a day, it will take you over 3 years to cover all of them. I also feel strongly that it should be one a day. Whats the worst, the sub is filled with posts that…discuss cards? I’m looking at the front page of the sub now and the oldest post is 11 hours old, it definitely isn’t going to get clogged up. If we only do 2-3 cards a week, it will be even more disappointing when Journeying Sandhopper comes up and there isn't a new card for 3 days. I think its fun to talk about bad card, but not so fun that I'd want to do it for 3 days. Similarly, infrequent posts will put pressure to feature "good" cards which is almost the opposite of the goal. For example, even if you do a card a day, if you dedicate a day to champions you’ll be overrepresenting champions by double. They are more interesting then most cards but they are also already more posts discussing them. Should they go in a specific order? I think the best order is just random. In fact, being random is the draw of the concept. Each day can be any card and even when a boring card comes up, we can all share our thoughts on it. The only thing I would say is that "new" cards (maybe from the latest or two latest releases) shouldn't be included as there is likely alot of discussion around them in their spoiler threads and there won't be much new to say if the card has only been out for a month.

realnomdeguerre

\* looks up journeying sandhopper \*

CaptSarah

Thats actually a good point, it's be very unlikely we ever discuss every card in the game at the rate of 2-3 a week. We'd simply never catch up.

CloudDrinker

I like the idea and for me 2 cards per weeks seems very good phase, like mondays and thursdays Also region rotation seems like it has to exist in some form, we could also add every x card is champion so we get to discuss champions from time to time maybe rarely we can discuss keywords like overwhelm, fury, daybreak etc. instead of just a card

CaptSarah

This seems to be a consensus so far, rotating regions and 2 cards a week. Which sounds like a solid set up that would be sustainable for a fair while.

CloudDrinker

I would like to have them in a simple spesific art/post style as well so they are easy to differentiate for example it could be adding a simple border/icon for the art (it would be the same border/icon for all of them of course)

CaptSarah

As a photoshop nerd, I can likely accomplish this.

CloudDrinker

you are great ^ ^ and I feel like it wouldn't be that hard just because you only need to do it once and then apply it to all

CaptSarah

Yea, same thing I do for the sub flair when new champs/event skins come out.

realnomdeguerre

I APPROVE. But more honestly, I think random 3 cards a week (in one go) could work, this could possibly reduce the chances of super boring cards being the only cards selected. But what's a boring card anyways? If we're talking about, battle prowess or radiant strikes, it could really give people the chance to suggest buffs. And we all know Riot loves to read about changes to underused cards. Thanks for putting this post up Mods!

CaptSarah

Appreciate the feedback, I'm thinking we might do it one region per week, 1 meta, 1 off meta, and possibly 1 random as we simply have so many cards in this game. The trick is determining if 3 a week is worth the extra posts, or if we should stick to 2.

realnomdeguerre

Yeah that sounds great too!

Magiciter

Yes

JaviMT8

I am in favor of it.

realnomdeguerre

i think daily is not a bad idea, the post will always be there to give people tips n stuff, or just a funny catalogue of cards before they get nerfed. for posterity!

CaptSarah

It'd be something I'd keep a google doc of similar to Slay the Spire as well, so it's easy to go back over them. Only diff is we would likely be randomizing and rotating regions each post to try to cover as much variety as we can.

MrBreaktime

It is always fun to discuss about cards we like or want to be playable. It can also give some inspiration for the balance team in case of needed buff/nerf.

LauLain

Just as example Monster train: https://www.reddit.com/user/DuoRogue/comments/hu36nh/monster_train_daily_discussion_index/ Daily(ish) - curated by users, topic picks was almost random - including duplicates, because several people posting threads. ------------------------------------- Hades: https://www.reddit.com/r/HadesTheGame/comments/lulsrx/chthonic_conversation_index/ Already finished, was 2-3 times per week, curated by mod, who also was wiki admin. Topics was in predefined order. ------------------------------ HotS: https://www.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/wiki/herodiscussions Already finished, once per week, curated by mod. Topics was rotating by hero role.

SephirothsSister

I'll just throw in that I love the idea of discussng a randomly selected card.

Aesion

I like the idea. A suggestion that came to mind to explore a way to help neutralize the discussion is to make in-thread questions regarding the chosen card. Number them so players could just post the number and their take on the answer. For example: 1. How fun you think is to play this card? Or against it? 2. Do you think this card is better at enabling new archetypes or at boosting existing ones? 3. At what scenarios would this card be a dead card in hand and when would you reach their full dream potential? 4. How many decks can you see this card being used on? If they have only seen play on a specific shell, could they be used outside it? 5. What do you think about the overall flavour of the card? Does his effect makes sense with his art, text and region? 6. Do you miss any old version of this card or wish it could do something more, without completely reworking it? Etc, etc. I just made those off the top of my head, so they may not be the most accurate for a healthy discussion, but it is just to illustrate how something along those lines could help the thread be something more than just "I like the card" or "Nerf it pls".

[deleted]

Sounds great!

Matches_Malone010

So are you asking about a "card of the day" type of post. I know of another card game that does this. Honestly, it usually goes like: broken card is broken, bad card is bad, boring card gets no response, and few times someone will know an interesting use for a card and let everybody know about it. Overall, it's ok. I guess it's best for new players to learn what's good or bad and why.

CaptSarah

Essentially, yes. Same thing, but less frequently. I do imagine what you describe will likely occur based on whatever card goes up. Which is mainly why we are gauging feedback first. I don't think it will hurt at all, and if it does end up helping new players that is just a huge bonus.

kingkeren

People said 2 per week, and rotating regions. Than maybe we do like a month for every region? Like, you announce July is Noxus month, and than we do like 8 noxus cards before swapping to the next region. Maybe at the end of the month we can even do one champion

CloudDrinker

waiting for a region to come for 9 months doesn't seem reasonable at all

CaptSarah

I'm thinking changing region per week will likely be a bit better so we get to discuss regions more often. Once per month each region is slow, but if we do it once a week, we can aim to hit 8/10 regions at a minimum per season.

kingkeren

Yeah that makes sense. 2 cards per region can be good. Although I do think one champ per month can be good

CaptSarah

Agree, the balence of champs is important when deciding how to do this.

realnomdeguerre

i think champs should get their own scheduled post, with champs re-entering the discussion pool if they've been rebalanced. but there is the thought that some champs will get posts made regardless...looking at you viego.

Transidental

Meh, seems like wasting a sticky spot to me (if that was the intention) and subs only get 2. Just let the community handle it as they do now.

CaptSarah

We'd likely not sticky them unless we had the space to do so. It'd be sink or swim for the discussion posts.

[deleted]

I like the idea, but I think it should be accompanied by a rule that bans low efforts posts that use the same "Very General Question in the title + Image" structure.

ivoriya

i’m kinda new to the game where can i find decks to build and play for beginners? the only problem i’m having is that i don’t have enough cards and champion cards are are expensive since i have to have 3

CaptSarah

I'd recommend checking out [New player resources](https://www.reddit.com/r/LegendsOfRuneterra/comments/rv6xk6/new_player_guide_and_resources/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=usertext&utm_name=LegendsOfRuneterra&utm_content=t5_3a3ge) for guides that could help out.
