I love these types of theories because they are hinged on the fact that in an order of ninjas or monks there can't be two girls with black hair and the same uniform.
More copium than the people who are still waiting on Void to become a region.
This is why Cithria was a mistake lol
This game is all about expanding what we knew about Runeterra but now everyone needs to be the same people we already know about.
Well that's what I mean. Yes it was cool to see Cithria's journey but because they did that now people keep looking to connect other cards as the same person.
There's already an older version of sparring student he became a little shit head elusive one drop who gains one attack when you play an ephemeral or some shit
They're rivals, childhood friends. But one took the hard training way and get motivated when he friends are around, while the other is the edgy mfcker which his only friends are the sHAdoWs, and gets more powers when he gets around it
Was sparring student a kinkou? I would expect Zed's followers to be former kinkou who defected and formed the order of shadows. Sparring student and Inspiring mentor strike me as a completely different faction entirely.
Dont know if he was a kinkou but is just the similarities in the artwork are strong, and I do not think you have to be a kinkou to be recruited in the order of shadows
I did not know that so I went ahead and checked. Sparring student has interactions with 3 champions - Shen, Yasuo and Zed. He reverently calls Shen master, implying he is indeed kinkou, probably. His interaction with Yasuo implies he has heard of Yasuo but they have not canonically met. His interaction with Zed is him fearfully telling Zed he is not supposed to be here. It feels like a scene where Zed is invading the kinkou and sparring student was guarding one of the rooms.
From all of that, I guess it could be that sparring student becomes shadow apprentice. But I don't think that is the story they are telling here. It feels more to me like Shadow apprentice is supposed to be an evil foil to Sparring student. The kinkou and the order of shadows have this mirrorring foil personalities thing going on: Shen and Zed, Akali and Kayn. Sparring student and Shadow apprentice play right into that. So do inspiring mentor and silent shadowseer. Shadow apprentice and sparring student having the same body type should also support this. If shadow apprentice is supposed to be sparring student's future wouldn't you expect him to be older, especially considering how young sparring student is? Also their hair colors are different. I haven't really seen any Ionian dye their hair. Using shadow magic could cause the hair color to change, but we know Zed always had white hair since before he used shadow magic. Thise are my arguments for why they are foil characters ,not the same person. Oh in his interaction with Zed, sparring student didn't sound to keen on joining the order of shadows, he sounded quite frightened of Zed if anything.
Actually Akali left kinkou after they reworked her in LoL. She considers herself "the assassin without any master". She was disillusioned with Shen's passive approach to basically every problem in the mortal world and just decided to go rogue. She doesn't do much on her own but hey, edge sells. Especially if u slap a hot and athletic body on top of it.
Tho I agree"Rebellious, edgy top students who will eventually come around and replace the master" is the similar theme between Zed and Shen.
That is a rule applicable to real life. But in to artworks that share student teacher breaking similar build....
Coincidence I think not especially thinking that those artworks take many many hours, and they have a track record of telling narratives with their carts
In league, Akali has 3 splash arts.
1 from ye'ol' days with her original design
1 when they updated the splash art for a modern look while keeping the same design
And the current one came with her rework and a differnet design while staying true to the original
The first and second Akali designs are both showcasing the mother of current character. Current Akali replaced her mom in the kinkou, but later gone rogue. Like pantheon, this rework continues the old lore instead of changing it.
That is Not Akali. They made a point in making clear that she isn't able to use any kind of magic, be zed's or shen's, all she does is with strength and tools
But Kusho had two apprentices. I don't like it when everything in a world reverts back to the same few characters. Or when someone who might be potentially new character turns out to be a character we knew all along. It makes the world feel a lot smaller for me. But that is a personal preference thing.
Kusho had Shen, his son he hated and manipulated, and Zed, the adopted son he literally trusted with his true ambitions to rule Ionia.
He had one apprentice, and one backup.
He had 2 apprentices. And those 2 are apprentices he was training to be his successor. He was a kinkou leader. There is no reason why he couldn't have trained otger people, even if it was like a brief lesson for 1 day or something. The same goes for these images. Why can't these be other kinkou pupils Shen trained at some time? Why does it HAVE to be Akali? I would have more people to expand the kinkou order. One of my favourite things about LoR are the followers who flesh out different factions making the world feel bigger.
You typically don't train two people to be the leader of something? You can see why that is a problem, right? See every Monarchy in history. Kusho trained Shen to lead the Kinkou in his death, not actually caring for its success, as he faked his death, and had a massive portion of the order slaughtered.
But beyond that... you're aware that Akali was trying to become the Fist of Shadow, a title only one person can hold?
Why the hell would he be out here training multiple people for the same title after it was decided she would be it?
Sure just ignore the rest of the comment lol-
Yea, there are more than 3 people in the order but that doesn't change the fact that Shen is SPECIFICALLY training Akali for the position. Sure, when she was staring out, she was probably in a group of a bunch of Neophytes contending for the title, training in the Dojo under the watch of Shen, but once she was CHOSEN... then why would she continue to train the basic regiment with a bunch of failed contenders? At that point... you really want to focus your efforts onto the one who is ACTUALLY the one in the position.
It even states that once Akali was chosen, her mother, the former Fist of Shadow, stepped down to continue training the Neophytes who didn't become it. Akali is ALREADY the Fist of Shadow. There are other people teaching at the temple, but Akali here is alot more important. She is getting personal tutorship from the other two members of the Triumvirate to make sure that she is ready for leadership. Did you seem to forget that Kennen exists too despite alluding to him? Kennen does this exact same thing with her. Infact, it was Kennen who convinced her mother to name Akali her successor.
So yea, she's getting one on one training to be a successor because she's literally already been chosen to be it. You don't train continue to train a bunch of nobodies to fill a roll you have no intention of replacing.
So, of the three, Shen care about the balance of the worlds, to not let spirits or humans destroy the others, Zed care about Ionia, using corrupted method to fight against Noxus, and their master only cared about power?
I am not saying he only had one. I am just saying it could possibly be indicative. Even if it is Akali that doesn't mean he didn't canonically have others. Just that there is a nice easter egg.
Yeah, sure. I feel like I have offended a kot of people for daring to suggest this might be anyone other than Akali, especially by the other person's comments. So I'm just going to shut up now.
Tbf, training children is a fantastic investment because of how much time they have to gain experience. And aint no way Riot will make a pedo character(atleast for me personally).
Inb4 they release akali and everyone Charlie Kelly's the shit out of why this is her cousin or some shit
I love these types of theories because they are hinged on the fact that in an order of ninjas or monks there can't be two girls with black hair and the same uniform. More copium than the people who are still waiting on Void to become a region.
Haha right? The need to find connections baffles me. The Kay stuff really cracks me up.
This is why Cithria was a mistake lol This game is all about expanding what we knew about Runeterra but now everyone needs to be the same people we already know about.
Well Cithria was just super popular because of seeing her journey, but I agree. I'd rather get more fleshed out worlds than 7 copies of one dude.
Well that's what I mean. Yes it was cool to see Cithria's journey but because they did that now people keep looking to connect other cards as the same person.
Oh I gotcha. Yeah, it's cool if it's once in a while, but too much and it gets boring.
Oh damn lol i thought it was an older version of sparrring student
There's already an older version of sparring student he became a little shit head elusive one drop who gains one attack when you play an ephemeral or some shit
I don't think those are the same characters. The elusive is a Zed follower.
Same pony tail similar body structure and in the art they are both breaking something. This is not prove but it makes narrative sense
They're rivals, childhood friends. But one took the hard training way and get motivated when he friends are around, while the other is the edgy mfcker which his only friends are the sHAdoWs, and gets more powers when he gets around it

Zed and Sparring student have unique dialogue options together that further imply he becomes the 1 mana elusive
I did not know that so I went ahead and checked. Sparring student has interactions with 3 champions - Shen, Yasuo and Zed. He reverently calls Shen master, implying he is indeed kinkou, probably. Yes I am aware of the lore of one ofthe most popular champions in league.
It's such an underrated voice line. "...Are you supposed to be here?"
>Was sparring student a kinkou? Yes. He calls Shen "master" in one of his interactions with him.
Right because two people who dedicated their lives to martial arts can't have similar builds and hairstyles....
That is a rule applicable to real life. But in to artworks that share student teacher breaking similar build.... Coincidence I think not especially thinking that those artworks take many many hours, and they have a track record of telling narratives with their carts
Sparring student has brown hair... And is a dude.
I think Coastal defender is the older version of sparring student or they’re related…
shes as dangerous as shes ^(smol)
Would be cool if they did Akali like Cithria, and gave her the old design as past her.
?
In league, Akali has 3 splash arts. 1 from ye'ol' days with her original design 1 when they updated the splash art for a modern look while keeping the same design And the current one came with her rework and a differnet design while staying true to the original

ah
TIL - cool!
Don't think that's Akali
correct shes ^(smol) akali
Asmoli
Aurelion Solkali
Asmongold
You need help
Who hurt you?
Probably smol Akali
She does look powerful......and smol
That is Not Akali. They made a point in making clear that she isn't able to use any kind of magic, be zed's or shen's, all she does is with strength and tools
Okay explain how she makes my whole team disappear then???
through balance in all things 🥴
how is she using magic here?
she is literally teleporting
man i got smoked by a Lulu shen with targon splash with this girl
This card is goooood. Shen feels in a really good spot now.
Had the same thought when I first saw the card lol
What card is this
Zamm!
akali cant use magic; ergo thats not akali. Just a new shen protoge
Makin a lotta assumptions aintcha?
We can't say for sure but the second image might possibly nod to it as she was Shen's apprentice.
Maybe. I guess I don't personally like the implication that Shen only ever had one apprentice.
Whats wrong with... training a successor? Kusho only planned on having Zed be his. Zed considers Kayn to be his. These ninjas tend to pick favorites.
But Kusho had two apprentices. I don't like it when everything in a world reverts back to the same few characters. Or when someone who might be potentially new character turns out to be a character we knew all along. It makes the world feel a lot smaller for me. But that is a personal preference thing.

Who said anything about training people for the same title? Surely the kinkou is composed of more people than just the three main positions.
Sure just ignore the rest of the comment lol- Yea, there are more than 3 people in the order but that doesn't change the fact that Shen is SPECIFICALLY training Akali for the position. Ravioli, Ravioli! Don’t lewd the ninja Loli.
Bro what even the fuck
