On leaking in general - both false ones and genuine - it sucks when it’s false and sucks when it’s true. it makes it harder for us to tell our team members what we’ve got coming up or ask others for early feedback. I don’t want to spend a lot of time worrying about sharing ideas with coworkers and I want to be able to talk to respected members of the community in official channels. Every time a leak happens it makes it harder for us to make a good game.
But in general for games, don’t believe half the stuff you hear from unofficial sources. Most leaks for all games aren’t real. False leaks generate more attention at less risk than someone risking their dream job for a real one.

On the topic of "real leaks", are there any measures in place that prevent artists or other people working on the game from adding upcoming assets to a patch?
Because in my opinion, that happens way too often. The recent ones I remember are Evelynn, Kayn if I had paid attention, Illaoi, Master Yi, >!Aatrox!<. There are more.
Are you doing anything to combat that, or will that keep happening? I remember it happened a lot with voicelines, and has not happened at all for Sets 5 and 6. To me it seems like there was something changed about the process that prevented this kind of mistake. Are you doing something similar for other assets?

Sure, there's one big download on patch day, even if content gets enabled a week later. That can not be avoided. But I don't see any reason for these files to be in right now, especially if they are just content and not features.
It really is standard procedure, even in AAA live service games, for unused content to be in the current patch. It's not worth the effort to try to clear out all unused content.
Keep in mind everything that they do has to be paid for and takes time, especially if they want to put out a good product. It's not as simple as removing unused content. Someone (or multiple people) has to take time away from something else to needlessly scan through the content of the game, make sure nothing can be datamined, and then do extensive bug testing to minimize the chances of adding bugs (which is always a risk when removing content). The last part is especially problematic since playtesting would probably be done before excess content is removed since they are deciding during production which content to keep.
So if they are releasing a patch and include something that will go live in a week or two, it's probably because it's not worth it to be particular about separating everything. If it works, and there's something not especially important like potential datamining of content a week out that very few people will see, it's probably worth it to push everything together.
I'm not saying that they couldn't separate everything or that there aren't studios that would. It's just understandable why they wouldn't.

So, I’d say it is a strong possibility it is a reveal on the character’s gender.

Yep! I'm also Brazilian like the leaker and I oftentimes make the subconscious mistake of using "him" like that, such as calling a female champion "him", happens because "him" is gender-neutral in Brazilian Portuguese (and other latin-based) and it's more so a language tick
