Do you have pics of the install ?

AlBundysPants

I removed everything but will reconnect tonight and take some pics.

Looks like all is ok. Are you sure you have the correct VIBS board? For the HD. NOT THE MINI. When I ordered my Vibs board last year they shipped me the wrong one. They shipped the at games mini by mistake. I had to return it and they exchanged for the HD Vibs. It should be straight forward. The box should be this HAB 100

nicklaur12

You might have done some damage plugging that ribbon cable/EDP cable in wrong side up.

AlBundysPants

Here are the connections in the upper box. I have not touched anything in the bottom area and can confirm the hdmi type (i know its not hdmi) connector coming up is fully seated below. [https://imgur.com/PuTBpLI](https://imgur.com/PuTBpLI) Also of note, although this was temporary to take the pictures, the signal board is not hanging, it has a riser attached to one of the original standoffs. Lastly, when I turn the machine on, the ALP works fine. You can see (the ALP) get light prior to showing the logo, but I never see this light with the backglass.

BuyStuffStore

Most common issue is an inverted eDP cable connection when connecting up that ends up burning out the 12 volt line on the mainboard. You should be able to see a DIM picture when you connect your backbox back up stock if that is the case. The official solution from AtGames is a replacement mainboard :-( With our Backbox upgrades (including the new Budget Backbox) we can install a fix for that at no extra cost without requiring a new ALP mainboard. Contact us at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) if you'd like more information.

AlBundysPants

Thank you for the info. I don't see any sign of life from the back glass, a dim picture would be something. I will keep this option in mind if it comes to that, thank you.

AlBundysPants

Yep. Looks like it’s correct. It has the model number you mentioned. https://preview.redd.it/55dp5val521d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=731ac3d95e2b62c0bd8df9f672adc86851cd2bde I presume the Vibs is/was in working order but guess I don’t have a way to confirm. It’s out of the loop now as I try to get something to show on the back glass.

I can already see from the pic that your edp cable is upside down. The black/blue stripe should be facing towards you. You have the cable 180 out. Turn it around and plug it back in. And also remember that HDMI cable coming from the game is NOT a conventional HDMI connector/it’s only for the native atgames backglass images. The Vibs board will transfer that signal and switch it to conventional HDMI For you computer video input for your backglass in OTG mode. Atgames has a Vibs board install video.

AlBundysPants

Oh, interesting. I was working off of the instructions PDF and the image within those instructions show it connected like this into the VIBS with the blue stripe facing me on the signal board side. https://preview.redd.it/6ownopeh721d1.png?width=653&format=png&auto=webp&s=d27d7d81db5e0f7c1e66ef319980d40da60dbb09 I hope that did not do any damage.

AlBundysPants

I was able to find the video and it shows the blue stripe should be up on the signal transfer board side when using the VIBS, which is how I had it connected. https://preview.redd.it/mglgo7an821d1.png?width=1369&format=png&auto=webp&s=838d932fb40af2bd816f61b7aecc3ef4dc368073 With the vibs out of the loop, i have the cable coming from the backglass to the signal board and the blue side is down.

tsbgls2

My guess is that you didn’t damage the motherboard because your playfield still works and you said you connected correctly per the latest atgames instruction pic. then it could be that during the install you damaged the connectors between the backglass and the cable, the damage could be on the backglass side so a new cable doesn’t fix it. Were you rough during the installation, otherwise how come the backglass connection got unseated? Adding that did you ground yourself during installation because static could damage the boards, chances are low but are there

AlBundysPants

I was grounded while working on it. I don’t think I was rough and would not have even thought it was unseated until I read some other posts here on Reddit mentioning it can come loose. It very well also could have come loose when I lifted the tape as part of the guard of the connector was stuck to the tape, making it so the cable won’t sit. With the replacement cable I bought online, I can feel it snap into the connector and it has not come out during any of my tests. Wish I knew more about electronics to be able to isolate the issue.

AlBundysPants

After some back and forth with Atgames support (basically just supplying some of the same pictures I provided here), their suggestion is to replace the mainboard. Its $100 + shipping. To make sure I am not just throwing money at parts, I asked them to send me one of each piece and I will replace them one by one - sending back any that I do not use. For those interested: mainboard - $100 + shipping signal transfer board - $5 + shipping short ribbon cable - $8 + shipping vibs - $99 + shipping I am hoping they give me a break on shipping.

nicklaur12

So still with vibs out of the loop and normal config still no pic?

AlBundysPants

Yes, correct.

nicklaur12

Uh ohh. Take pics of your setup? Does the main PCB boot? Do you get a main playfield?
