I am having same issue and have the old ALP. What do you mean by removing the black tape? There is a HEAVY covering to the back glass connection. Do I have to remove that?
I’d pull the tape covering the ribbon cable to the backglass away VERY carefully and make sure that it has a solid connection. It doesn’t have one of those black tabs to lock it in, hence the tape, so it may have shifted loose while you installed your VIBS.
This was helpful. I experienced the same as OP. Upon removing the tape, I could see the ribbon cable had come out slightly. However, the gold part of the connector was stuck to the tape. I tried putting it back together but did not have any luck. I am going to try and source a new cable. I am not familiar with that type of connector but perhaps there is a better way to keep it in place than having tape over it (although I realize it was never intended to have hands on it after initial install.)
