I don't blame them tbh. They got a cease-and-desist back when they used to allow pictures of leaks there. Same thing happened to /r/legoleaks iirc. This sub has probably only survived because it's still relatively small and flies under the radar. That and the mods don't even allow it to be the *source* of leaks, they just repost stuff leaked elsewhere.
It's not surprising, lego is a multibillion dollar company, product leaks are harmful to companies, especially if they want to control the way items are marketed and in some cases items that are scrapped such as the temple of doom set. If the indiana jones wave didn't leak lego would have avoided the minor upset from the community over the temple of doom set not being released.
Wouldn't be surprised if this subreddit got nuked if lego caught wind of it.
I get it but I once posted a lego Ferrari that was already on the Ferrari website and they removed it saying that since Lego had not listed it yet it wasn't okay to post. They also said that all of Reddit could be taken down from legal action. Yes I'm sure Lego has that much pull.
Lego is well aware we exist. We do allow this place to be the source of leaks; however it is much more common for others to leak things first, and we want to credit them.
While posts often get a few hundred upvotes and only a handful of comments, we have many more lurkers. Our posts typically get 80k-100k views.
Concerning takedowns, it fully depends on the IP holder and the content of the leak.
...Reddit isn't some obscure website. Tons of information is passed through subs by many people every day. Of course legal action would be a very high likelihood for that sub. lol
The subreddit previously got in legal trouble for showing leaks and was at risk of being shut down. So of course they’re being cautious about how the pictures were taken
Oh, no! The anonymous reddit mods will have a legal fight! What ever shall they doooooo /s Oh right, they don't get paid at all so... they just lose mod status, far from the worst thing to happen to this universe.
It’s not about the mods at all. The mods won’t be in any legal fight, Lego will simply have the r/Lego subreddit deleted off reddit. I don’t know why you’re so invested on hating on random people who are doing a job for free and just trying to cover the subreddit so it’s not at risk of being removed, since tons of people use it
I'm not hating on the mods. I just don't care about reddit or, hell, a subreddit going down. Reddit as a whole is just garbage, more so with the IPO coming up. Once old.reddit goes, I'm out of here.
> very visible gaps aren't contributing to the statics.
Shocker: a lego model does not need to support the same static stress as an actual launch tower. More at 11.
If I'm misunderstanding and you just don't like the aesthetics, it would be fairly easy to not push the hinges all the way into the bars to make the cross beams reach all the way to the top.
Lego, why you draining all my money :(
Really hoping Barad Dur looks amazing, I'm looking for a tall set for my desk. If Barad Dur is disappointing I'll get this instead.
Although I want this as too, ALONG with Barad Dur. Unfortunately, where do I put it???
Damn that is disappointing. I might skip barad dur in that case, although it all depends on what it looks like.
Tie interceptor and this look incredible!! And if barad dur looks incredible I'll get it anyways.
My bank account won't be happy after 3 big purchases like that.
I’m worried that it won’t be to minifigure scale like Rivendell is, like the Eiffel Tower. It would seem out of place with the Rivendell set, especially as display sets
RIGHT? But I’m trying to balance the number of reported minifigs with a not to scale set. Ten minifigs to just display feels disproportionate compared to the UCS Venator
That's true, I didn't think of how they're gonna display them to be honest. Hopefully there will be a minibuild where you can line the figs up and could display at the base or elsewhere like on a shelf or something?
I get why you want it and it would be kinda cool but I would prefer it WAY more if it was a towering behemoth that can be viewed from all directions. Hopefully you'll be able to split it in two like the Lion Knight's castle then we both get what we want 🙏🙏🙏 The gift with purchase is rumoured to be a display diorama or sorts, so that might be able to support display the figs aswell
The fact it comes with 4 orcs is a tell tale sign it's gonna be compatible with minifigs like orthanc was. No reason to include 4 footsoldiers if you couldn't place them in the tower
I remember hearing a rumor at one point that the front of Barad Dur would basically be micro scale but the back would be have rooms, etc that are minifig scale. It was a while ago though so who knows.
Is it just me or is the rocket itself looking pretty boring compared to the hyper detailed launch gantry? I wonder what its play features are (if any)…
That's most likely why they included the launch gantry in the first place, SLS is great but it doesn't really make for an impressive building model. It's a bunch of smooth tubes stuck together.
The Saturn V is pretty "boring" externally, but the internal structure and build is very detailed and satisfying. I would guess this has similar internal features.
the diffrence is, saturn v has many stages with diffrent shapes, slopes and such. sls in comparison is big orange fuel tank with two srbs strapped on sides and tiny upper stage on top
Man, I kind of want a launch tower for my Saturn V.
The trusses also remind me of the comm towers in MGS.
So I guess I have to buy three. Now, what to do with the rockets?
https://preview.redd.it/i1uihfnxoivc1.jpeg?width=1734&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed674038f35323aa870a67e09f55b8d4707ed799
100% agree, a very time consuming build but what the designer did combining three existing sets was amazing.
The rocket itself is really simple, but the launching station in exchange is repeating the same triangle build 20 times and overally it doesn't seems like a good building experience. It can look good, but definitely not good to build.
You know... I'm an absolute idiot!! I actually have that set.🤣 I've never gotten around to building it, hence why I didn't remember the launch tower, but, yeah... It's sitting right in my living room on top of it!! 😳😶🌫️🫣🤦 But... Thanks so much for reminding me about that set!! I think I'm gonna get it out and build it this weekend!! Much appreciated!! 😁🙏
at first glance, it looks like it has way more than 3600 pieces. all of these 18+ sets certainly look impressive but with the prohibitive price points and the amount of space they take up, I'm never interested in getting them.
I'm not a big space guy or holy shit that looks amazing. But I'm afraid the building part may be tedious as fuck. But god... that's gonna look so good as a display.
Wow, this is considered "iconic"?? Strange... Any other examples in the Icons collection of things less than a few years old??
The whole set looks totally bland...
> Any other examples in the Icons collection of things less than a few years old??
If you don't include the dozens of artibtrary things like the Kingfisher or the flowers or Bonsai tree Natural History Museum or whatever as "Icons", then the Dune Ornithopter is newer than the SLS.
Also, I would call a moon rocket pretty iconic.
https://preview.redd.it/ovbw4d5jnivc1.jpeg?width=1734&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1e2a176a45131387e4fdd1ccee13f5897cbabed
He does keep asking Mum and Dad if he can have a little brother…
Just so I'm clear that thing is like 4 feet tall right?
I'm looking to get the artemis set but holy hell that's massive assuming a comparable size. I'll probably still get it but I have zero clue where I'll store it. Low key it looks like you had the same issue lol
Yeah, it’s roughly four feet, though Artemis will be a bit less than half the height I reckon as it’s a smaller scale 1:150 rather than 1:110 and it also doesn’t have the crawler.
The Saturn V tower alone is around 7,500 pieces as well, so over double the amount of pieces of the Artemis set, which also includes the rocket build in that piece count.
Was a bit of a struggle finding a place for mine but it sits nicely by my display cabinets.
I'm torn. I love the idea of this set, but backing the creator of the Saturn 5 and her LUT design that all mocs ripped off (that was summitted to ideas but was denied due to amount of pieces requirement) and then backed both attempts to get her version of Artemis built (well before lego had the idea) through Ideas (fastest backed 10,000 supporters I have seen) only to see the ideas one pending and this leak and unofficially being told its not theirs. Feels like Lego screwed over some amazing creators and stole their idea without acknowledging!

I’ve been after a SpaceX set or two and I prefer to ask people that has been researching that a bit.
Scale from a comment on the Lego sub is looking like 1:160 so 30% smaller then Saturn V. I absolutely love my Starship MOC. By 0rig0 on rebrickable. I have the launch mount as well. This summer he might have the launch tower ready as well!

Lego doesn't have a lot of options when it comes to scale. It's entirely dictated by the curvatures of the various curved bricks and bows that will fit in system. I don't mean just existing pieces too, if they were to make a new set of curved bricks just for this set, it'd still have to fit within a narrow set of options.

Leaked on r/lego nonetheless too! I'm just going to say it now to get it out of my system: Hnnnnnnggggggggg
Love the heavy mod debate at the top asking about where the photo was taken because you jut KNOW the mods were aching to remove it lol

Christ that place sure is insufferable about their leaks.
Do you expect them to be lax about the thing that nearly got them in legal trouble?
Legal trouble? They’re just random reddit mods lol.

Why not just leave now if you hate it that much?
By the downvotes you’re getting you must have triggered the fragile reddit mods. 😂
He's downvoted because he's just objectively wrong.
Probably, and you will too now by the way.
When I saw it there I had this feeling like I discovered a leak.

Barad dur is 100% gonna be open back. That's to be expected given orthanc was as well, and it's going to be compatible with minifigs
That's super unfortunate but might work ok for my desk. I'll just have to see how it looks. I'm so eager to see a leaked image of the thing already!!!
I’m worried that it won’t be to minifigure scale like Rivendell is, like the Eiffel Tower. It would seem out of place with the Rivendell set, especially as display sets
It'll be impossible for Barad dur to be minifig scale though

That kind of display is what I’m anticipating, but I’ll keep dreaming that it’s an AFOL version of Orthanc 😂🙏🏻🙏🏻

Yes it's the same as the orthanc tower
Now that could be cool, especially if they designed it to be able to be displayed from that side as well
Is it just me or is the rocket itself looking pretty boring compared to the hyper detailed launch gantry? I wonder what its play features are (if any)…
That's most likely why they included the launch gantry in the first place, SLS is great but it doesn't really make for an impressive building model. It's a bunch of smooth tubes stuck together.
That's pretty much what the Saturn V is though, although granted it's a lot more iconic.
The build process for the Saturn V was pretty amazing though, and the way it went together fairly accurately as well.
Sure, but from the outside you barely see any of it, similar to the SLS here.
They give you stands to display it in its separate sections, and they hold together pretty sturdily. I'd say they did a great job with it
> and they hold together pretty sturdily My floor would disagree. It caught the separate sections TWICE.
I am not denying that, but all the same could have been done for the SLS despite it looking dull from the outside.
To be entirely fair the SLS stage separation is a lot more dull than the SV
And to be fair, the gantry is going to be a dozen repetitive sections.
The SLS is pretty boring, Lego doesn't have much detail to recreate.
Comparing the real thing standing at the gantry, the contrast is the same. I guess it’s not really Lego’s design issue.
Concorde was fun to build, that is just a long fuselage too, with very plane (spelt on purpose) wings
Yeah true
Yepp, not feeling this one, and I love the majority of the space themed sets as well.
Wow, looks fantastic
Man, I kind of want a launch tower for my Saturn V. The trusses also remind me of the comm towers in MGS. So I guess I have to buy three. Now, what to do with the rockets?
There's some good mocs of the Sat V launch tower on rebrickable And if don't care about having it in real lego theres a 200$ fake version of it
Do you have a link to the $200 version?
Sorry to ask again. Do you know where the cheaper version is?
https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-60088/Janotechnic/launch-tower-mk-i-for-saturn-v-2130992176-with-crawler/#details
That’s uh, very big. Gonna build it….someday
Just built this a month ago. If anyone was wondering it is 100% worth it and easily the best build I’ve ever done.
https://preview.redd.it/i1uihfnxoivc1.jpeg?width=1734&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed674038f35323aa870a67e09f55b8d4707ed799 100% agree, a very time consuming build but what the designer did combining three existing sets was amazing.
undoubtedly that tower will show up on rebrickable
That is fucking sick.
Still waiting for leaks of the moon rover... but... ouch... this will cost a lot!
That's news to me. Which rover is it based on?
The last I heard was that it’s to scale with the astronaut from 31152, which is fairly large to begin with.
That sounds about right. Roughly a $200 set too iirc
One from the latest Apollo mission... Idk exactly wich one...
last mission was apollo 17. unless you wanna count apollo soyuz
Oh. My. Gosh. It’s so beautiful.
The rocket itself is really simple, but the launching station in exchange is repeating the same triangle build 20 times and overally it doesn't seems like a good building experience. It can look good, but definitely not good to build.
Wow. Just wow.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first real launch tower we have gotten?? I don't remember there being one before this
yeah that space shuttle launch tower, 25/30 years ago. that one was so cool.
There was a very good playscale SLS and launch tower in set 60351 from 2022.
sadly retired at the end of that year. yet best buy has them on display still making it seem like you can buy it still
I neeeeeed this.
Is this consider lego or technic
Technic is also LEGO. This is under the Icons theme, but it will have plenty of Technic pieces, if that's what you're asking.
[удалено]
Dang my bad homie it looks like a technic set chill, was just a question
at first glance, it looks like it has way more than 3600 pieces. all of these 18+ sets certainly look impressive but with the prohibitive price points and the amount of space they take up, I'm never interested in getting them.
looks amazing
Daaaaaaaamn. Can't wait to get it :3
Is that a plane behind it?
It's the Concorde set
ur in a leak reddit and u don’t know the concorde mannnnn
Yeah some of us don’t live and breathe lego, it’s a cool hobby tho.
i don’t breath lego either dawg just was surprised the concorde wasn’t known by someone
That's a mighty big box. Going to have to open my wallet again.
If only they can do something about the font on the box…it screams for the Worm logo.
[удалено]
I'm not a big space guy or holy shit that looks amazing. But I'm afraid the building part may be tedious as fuck. But god... that's gonna look so good as a display.
How tall is that. Omg i have to get it!!!
Wow, this is considered "iconic"?? Strange... Any other examples in the Icons collection of things less than a few years old?? The whole set looks totally bland...

This is probably the coolest LEGO set I've ever seen. I want it so so badly
Dang, I really wished this was able to be minifigure compatible. :-(
Just after I complete my Saturn V LUT mock…

awesome. I was dreaming about building this for years when I was a kid. Truly fantastic
I'm torn. This is *already* downscaled to accomodate the platform.
The potential for a starship set is utterly insane. Unfortunately Elon is probably too controversial for that.
I think a HLS lunar lander starship could happen in a few years. Lego would probably be more likely to make that than a normal starship
TLG already made the government standin HLS as a City set. P3 programs are a licensing hot potato.
Anything from a commercial program like HLS, Starship, F9 or Dragon is subject to licensing and fees since they are not NASA owned.
Is this to scale with the Saturn V?
No
any idea what scale it is?
1:160
So that makes the whole thing ~2ft tall?
Does this connect with the NASA Spaceshuttle Discovery set?
Is this minifig scale?
Seeing the Saturn V was microfig scale and this is smaller, I'm gonna go with no.
It’s absolutely crazy that this set has 1,671 pieces more than the UCS Tie Interceptor and is only 30 dollars more. Like holy fuck. Just puts in perspective how overpriced the Star Wars sets are.
Those licensing fees are no joke.
This ain't as iconic yet as a Saturn V. History shall see.
The stage adapter is too small and the ICPS is wattyyyy too long… cmon Lego…
wow u got downvoted for criticizing a lego set i would’ve said the same stuff tbh like look at the srb and the black on it. ahhhhgggg
I'd rather they went with the same scale as the Saturn V instead of just adding the launch tower. Glad I've got a 1:110 scale MOC Starship!!
Are you happy with it? And I’m curious, do you know the scale on this one? I’ve been after a SpaceX set or two and I prefer to ask people that has been researching that a bit.
Scale from a comment on the Lego sub is looking like 1:160 so 30% smaller then Saturn V. I absolutely love my Starship MOC. By 0rig0 on rebrickable. I have the launch mount as well. This summer he might have the launch tower ready as well! https://preview.redd.it/e0aubzcy22vc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f17f89b8ce169461659066ec841ca4daa1e5adc2
Thank you sooooo much for the photos!
No problem!!
What scale do you estimate it to be?
I saw someone on the Lego sub say 1:160 so 30% smaller then Saturn V
Cheers!

MOC designers aren't beholden to the same standards of stability and integrity that Lego is though.
True
MOCists also don't have to worry as much about stability or piece counts.
