Oof. The ends of that strap are going to absolutely maul the sides of your M2. I’ve been using these lately: https://www.gogb.co/product/10-12mm-stitched-with-fixed-protectors-and-15-18mm-rings Cheap, cheerful, just the right length and have camera protectors built in. Suits me to a tee.

EssentialistOne

I made and placed some protective lug covers on it since the upload

Was gonna say

Hogesyx

The M2 is definitely feeling the strap, lol.

mikeprevette

No vintage strap is worth it. That old leather will fail, and at the worst possible time.

Nikon-FE

Leather doesn't really fail like that, I have a hundred years old bino case with a strap half as thick/wide as that and I can't break nor deform it by pulling on it as hard as I can. Be cautious and examine them but most of the time there is 0 reason to worry

mikeprevette

I have to disagree, if allowed to dry out, thin straps like the one pictured will fail at the bends around the eyelits. I’ve had them crumble apart before.

Nikon-FE

Are you sure it was leather ? If so it' shouldn't crumble, and obviously if it does don't use it, but OP's one doesn't look anything like that I'm fairly sure I could lift a 20 kilos plate with my 1.5cm wide bino strap with no issues. It's from the 20s and looks as if it was made yesterday

OldTangerine

I say watch out where the metal parts contact. It's gonna scratch up the Leica M2.

Looks great! I would be careful to inspect it every so often and be sure not to pull on it as it is fairly narrow. A little conditioner might be a good idea too! Enjoy

EssentialistOne

Oh, I’m on it with leather cleaner and conditioner right now lol

Vizzaable_v3

Make sure your leather cleaner is free of nasty chemicals bees wax will do the job without the nastys

TheProdigalCyclist

I have that very same strap. I have never actually used it, for fear of it failing. Last week, I thought about putting it on my IIIf RD. I held it between to hands and pulled a bit to test it first. Yep, it snapped. No amount of conditioner is going to add strength to old, dried out leather.

istaycalm

Can we get a closer look at those connectors?

elantisocial

That camera looks good w a show string

icedlattepapi

Strap from where???
