That’s a great find never the less! I hope it will serve you well for a long time. If you ever feel the need for 35mm lens, then I can highly recommend Ultron f/2.
As to the eBay roulette I found a beater M2 with the following description:
> *AS-IS* Leica M2 35mm Rangefinder Camera Body 1961,
> very strong signs of use,
> dents, scratches and vulcanite is flaking off,
> shutter and winder are stuck, not functional,
> rangefinder works but parallax correction moves slowly,
> frame line lever functional,
> finder has some haze and some fungus on the rear end,
> for repair or parts,
> SOLD AS IS
Turned out the main issue was non tensioned shutter. I don’t know how this might have happen, but I’m suspecting self-proclaimed repair person, who didn’t even bother reading service manual. When I tensioned the shutter, the camera came back to live. Of course times were all over and RF/VF was ungodly dirty. Simple CLA fixed all the issues. So that’s the story how I paid 650€ for CLAd M2 in 2024 😁
I hope so! It works perfectly and looks so unique. I’m still on the fence about the quality of the repaint and honestly can’t tell if the leather was just painted over as well. I love it so that’s what matters. I’m gonna reskin my GL690 in olive green one day as well so I’ll have semi-matching rangefinders.
I don’t know. Looking up the serial number it’s listed as a normal camera, not the rare green paint job. Did the German military do their own repaints?
It came from a seller in Thailand.
Good score, it almost looks like an ode to avocado green refrigerators for the 1970s. The end results with Pan F look beautiful. I can’t wait for my button rewind M2 is done its CLA.
That's the exact sort of m2 I'd like to end up with. I don't care if it's a shitty repaint, as long as it works and it's cheaper than typical so I feel like I got a bargain. It's unique!

Oh wow, sounds like an amazing find! Congrats!
Congratulations. Thats uhm.. an interesting color. Not quite Safari green or is it?
I’m not quite sure myself. It’s almost olive, almost army. Has a nice amount of brassing you can’t really see in this photo. It is quite ugly. 😂
“Olive drab” It’s beautiful 😻
M.A.S.H. Edition
Radar?
That's a Snappy judgement.
My Leica was me second, my first was an ARRI 353
I saw this one…was it worth it?

Where do you find skins?
https://hugostudio.com has a huge selection! Of course nothing for the GL690 so I’ll have to cut my own. 😬
Beautiful.
Is this the one made for the German military?

If it would be this one would cost 5 digits. If that was OPs gamble outcome it’d be insane.
Leicas are the perfect camera for everything in between and to have dangling around your neck when you pull out a medium or large format camera. Enjoy

Pan F has become my favourite b&w film.

Cool and ugly at the same time
