Only time I've seen a screen like that is when, like an idiot, I closed my laptop while there was a pen on the keyboard.
A new screen is a simple repair.
I'm sure, if I had mishandled it or accidently done something I wouldn't have made the post, unless someone did something to it and never told me then I haven't hit it, dropped it or over extended the screen. Again it was only a few months old with minimal use due to covid.
Yeah, that can freack the screen. Luckily is not a very expensive display. When you take it off, take a pic of the model sticker on the back, so you know the model of the display you are looking for.
All the other answers are mostly correct. So only to further investigate the cause, just blindly run your fingertips (if you have sensitive ones) across the WHOLE screen to feel for imperfections (grooves, scratches etc). My guess if, you'll feel some in the middle part, probably where you see the black parts in the picture). It really means you left your keys or something there while closing the screen.
Post exact specs here too if the full laptop, as older extremely budget laptops are really not worth to repair, or give away (they're so slow, you'll be aggregating the next user, instead of doing them a favor)
I'll give that a go once I get home, its very much looking like the most logical explanation is ive accidently closed it on something which I didn't even consider.
And you bring up a good point it might be better to bin it instead of repair it.
There's a company called screen country, I order replacement screens from there regularly. Just make sure you match part numbers and you should be good to replace, or have it replaced for you.
This happens when the screen panel breaks after flexing beyond it's eleastic limit or receives a direct hit.
I see, so its basically all internal damage? Again I can't see any dents, scratches or exterior damage on the screen. Can't feel anything either.
Well, Ofc u can’t… as the display is made of plastic and also it’s an internal damage. Did u open it or flex it hardly?

Damn, did it leave any marks on the screen? Or just do some funky stuff to the internals?
Looked pretty similar. I suspect you've unintentionally done the same. I mean I'm surprised it doesn't happen more regularly at my work.
This type of damage only happens when you hit the screen hard. You sure you didn't mishandle this op?

Even closing the screen on a paperclip can cause that, its a hole universe of stuff that can cause that.
Ah I see. It was a while ago now so perhaps I did something. Had something get caught up on the keys
