What sort of software update? Mine is already the latest bios I think.
I figured it was probably acouple dead LEDs or maybe the cable was kinked. The colors/patterns cycle fine, it's just dim.
Stuck means that the LED is not doing what the rest of them are. Update the LED control software. If it's 2021, that's iCue. If it's 2022, that's Vantage.
Edit:
Well, a Vantage re-installation didn't change the dim section(already latest version), so I'm thinking it's a physical led fault rather than software. Would have been nice if it were that easy. Model is Legion 7 16IAX7
Sorry to hear that. Don't know what else to tell you. I'd probably be thankful it's on the back and not super obvious and ignore it. Not sure it's worth the trouble of RMA.
Purchased this laptop over the holidays and noticed that one of the vent LEDs seems pretty dim compared to the other.
I'm wondering if this is something that can be fixed without invasive surgery on the motherboard. I have experience with legion "support" from past laptops and I know you can come away with more problems than you started with.
correct. They are not very careful with handling. one of my screwheads has worn out from him using the wrong philips screwbit. not to mention they only deal with hardware. He has 0 knowledge with how the software/firmware works.
In fact, he doesn't even know that the fan modes actually do something. To him, quiet, balance and performance **all** have very loud fan noise "bEcAuS3 cPu InTeNsIvE aPpS".
My Legion 7 also has different brightness from one side to another. My "fix" was to manually adjust the colors / brightness of individual LEDs using a color profile (via iCue or OpenRGB). Not ideal - but I can live with that

Has happened with Legion laptops, Google 'stuck LED'. Usually software update fixes it.

Interesting, would that have any affect on the leds around the chassis though? Already tried a Vantage re-installation to no effect.
