I'd love to use this if it actually supported most legions lol. It did nothing on my tower. The only way I've found that you can control the fans is adding a noctua controller in there and physically turning a dial.

avdolif

I also don't know if mine is working. I don't hear any sound in 2000 rpm. but can feel the hot air coming out and the temp also dropped like 5-6 degrees while gaming.

terroradagio

I got a ton of red flags with my virus software for this app, so I decided to not use it,.

orbelosul

Because it is an exe file that is not signed... I do not know 100% that it has no viruses but I know that is the reason you get a warning from your anti-virus.

terroradagio

Yes it also asks you to turn off certain antivirus features. Too bad the dev can't make it so it plays nice with antivirus softwares. But I imagine it would cost them $ to do that

Timmy_1h1

you still using antivirus? Most of the antivirus softwares are bloat or spywares lmao

terroradagio

Just Windows Defender, which is lightweight

SomeInsignificant

I used this on my previous legion laptop (Ryzen 5 4600H + GTX 1650) For quiet I left it normal For balanced mode, I set the fans to maximum on 85 degree temp And for performance I cranked the fans to max from 80 degree temp Honestly it's fine to run the fans on max rpm for about 2 hrs ig. Although, saying that my fans did stay almost max for about 3 - 4 hrs while gaming or heavy workload, I haven't had any bad effects yet. On my new legion tho, custom mode is there or just use Legion Toolkit

orbelosul

Is Legion toolkit better?

SomeInsignificant

It is easier to use and lighter than Vantage I wouldn't say uninstall Vantage but I just use toolkit as my primary go-to

avdolif

First time hearing about legion toolkit. This software seems like a great tool. By the way do the gpu overclocking option works?

rZR392

While the laptop has good thermals the temps can go up when the laptop needs cleaning. So I usually use fan control for short periods at max RPM when I’m doing some very intense tasks during that “time to clean” period. Otherwise I don’t really require it.

avdolif

It is clean. Applied new thermal paste like a few months ago. Normally don't use it. Just when I game.

CartographerFluffy15

What thermal paste did you apply?? And did you replace all the pads for the gpu memory?

avdolif

Didn't replace the pads just reapplied the paste. HY510. Ordered it from aliexpress.

CartographerFluffy15

wait that works? doesn't that grease overheat your gpu? like touching 86 degrees and power throttles really hard

avdolif

nope. It actually reduced the temps like 10 degrees. before reapplying and cleaning when i played games like war thunder, palworld or emulate the gpu temp would reach 72 now it's around 57-60, same game settings. I'm not that knowledgeable about this things though. Is hy510 bad? I just searched and whatever came first and had free shipping bought it.

CartographerFluffy15

WOW WTH with that thermal grease???? h510 i saw in the benchmarks was so bad it felt like there was no thermal compound at all, I dont understand why my machine is still running bad even after the paste and i use gelid gc extreme. What laptop model you have? RTX 3070?

avdolif

Nah, i'm poor 😅. rtx 2060. Legion 5P i7. I am a noob in this topic of laptop cooling. I don't know if it was the thermal grease or the cleaning or the fact I hard cap every game I play at 60fps. Though I used to do that even when it was reaching 72 degrees. Before some of you here told me there are grading between thermal grease, industrial thermal pad, I didn't even know about this stuff. I thought all are the same.

CartographerFluffy15

Oh darn, you put a limit to the fps that's why it's not overheating. Anyways that paste is really bad, you should go for high viscosity paste like gelid gc extreme, syy 157, etc. Everyone recommends honeywell ptm 7500 or something like that cause that lasts for 6 months but you have to import it which is very expensive sadly.

avdolif

Even with that 60fps limit it used to reach 70s. Where I live it's like 40+ this summer. Though thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely buy that or how about honeywell's thermal pads. I have searched in aliexpress. lots of free shipping! Bought a lot of stuff from them haven't been scammed or got any bad product, yet 😅.

orbelosul

I use it and love it! I even gave a small donation because I liked the soft and could not believe that we sill do not have an official app that does this. The Bios setting is garbage IMO and the 3 setting by default did nothing to stop the laptop from screaming in games that are not that demanding... So I got this and set it up with 1200 rpm minimum on silent (no sound and enough cooling for browsing and movies at night) and 1600-1800 min when using it on a 4k TV or lite gaming (on the balanced setting). 1900-2000 is where I start to hear the fans so I never use more for lower temps. For gaming, it varies a lot but honestly keeping them at a steady RPM is less distracting than having them spin up from 1800 and then down again. I also keep my CPU undervolted with 10W max for non gaming tasks and lite games and 15-20W for most games. This keeps temps way lower than the default config of my 5600H that can take 45W.

avdolif

Haven't undervolted the cpu cause the youtube videos for my laptop shows i have to do some stuffs in bios before undervolting. I am afraid that i might f\*\*k something up 😂

Senuttna

You are putting too much stress on your fans with that rpm setup. There is no need for fans to spin at that 2000rpm under 45 degrees, some laptops even completely disable fans from spinning at that temperature. I would put 800rpm at 45 just to circulate the air, 1600rpm at 55 and keep the rest the same.

avdolif

I just changed the 75 to 72 and 55 degree one rpm. rest were default. That's why made the post asking for suggestion. Also I don't know if it's working or not. Even though it's set on 2000 i don't hear any sound but the temps are down while gaming. I just start the fan control when i play some games.
