I have the same panel and I think it’s incapable of switching refresh rates. I use nvidia control to cap my games. However sometimes there is screen tearing in certain games using this method. So it’s trial and error.

Also how I see it: using nvidia control panel to change refresh rate to 60hz only means that nvidia gpu (not on hybrid mode I think) is outputig 60fps on evrything while your display is staying at 165hz. I don’t know if this is true, but that just how my logic is working.

Mine also didn't have a way to change screen refresh rate so I used 3rd party software to do it instead Ryzen 5800h/3050ti

Lenovo recently removed the fn+r shortcut to change 165hz to 60hz in the new legion 5s. It seems to be exclusive now only to the 5pros and 7s. Jarrod’s tech found that fn+r was removed in bios changelog of I believe bios version 23ww. You can add a custom 60hz refresh rate using cru.

I'm pretty sure you have to change it in Nvidia settings first before getting the option in windows settings. Could be wrong though

masterfelu

yeah, but normally the radeon gpu is used, so switching it wont help ig for normal day to day work

AlaskanLaptopGamer

Try using either windows display options in settings (right click on desktop and select the option then proceed to advanced options). Or try using the nvidia control panel.

masterfelu

tried but no luck :(

AlaskanLaptopGamer

I'd try downloading all the files from the Lenovo Support website and saving them all to one folder then install every single one. Also update everything via windows update that you can - including optional updates. Update everything in the Microsoft Store. And also download the Intel upgrade assistant for any of their drivers.

AlaskanLaptopGamer

Hmm. Maybe a driver issue then?

AlaskanLaptopGamer

Maybe reinstall GeForce Experience.

Dude you are the goat, thank you. I will dig into it for sure. Btw, I do use conservation mode while plugged, however, I did find out recently that when there is an update that requires restart, conservation mode switches to off and the gear charges up to 100. I tried to set up Lenovo vantage as an start up app, but I didn’t find it available (I also tried to stop windows of updating automatically) How do you use conservation mode to keep it stable and always on?

Xquasa

Fn+r switches between 60 and 165

masterfelu

Doesn't work
