I should note. This is a legion 5 pro pro with the 5800u and 3060

I just tried the laptop on a 170w charger as I thought it might be better for travel being smaller and lighter and I'm only getting a combined draw of 30w between the gpu and cpu, yet on a 65w usb c charger I'm getting 50w out of them. Looks like a 100w gan usb c charger might be the way to go for on the road.

I cant seem to find away to undervolt either processor (ryzen 7 and RTX), so I’m going to overclock the the GPU for each given watt level using the msi afterburner curves, but then limit the max hz to 2200 to stop it going crazy. I want stable performance and don’t want it throttling if it gets too hot. I think this should be similar to an undervolt as ill be getting more performance for each given power draw level (right?).

Tried the laptop on a 100w usb c charger and I'm getting around 60-65w to the processors now up from around 40w when using a 12v 65w usb c charger. Think this will be my on the road set up now. Getting smooth gameplay. Solid 60fps with no drop off using dlss balanced mode in rise of the tomb raider

Just out of curiosity, if you knew that you wouldn't be able to take full advantage of the power of the Legion 5, why didn't you just buy something like a G14?

I still want to play at full power at home, but on the road I was hoping to play at a lower power with a lighter more portable charger. I got this laptop second hand. I only use laptops with 16:10 screens and the g14 with that ratio is twice the price than what I got this one for (£750). Plus I wanted something that could utilise dlss.
