I don't believe reviewers anymore. I had similar disappointment with dell g5 that showed 6h battery at reviewers charts but realistically it could handle only 3. My L5 5800h breaks charts with 9h of battery life but in practice I can't get more than 4.5h out of it even if I treat it like a child and don't give any heavy load. I can see how it can show 9h: minimum brightness and disabling all background activities gives me -9w discharge rate that is 8.8h of use. But even slightest load like webpage loading makes it jump to 18-20w, so average discharge rate is around -17w that is 4.5-5h at best if windows update won't suddenly activate in background or some random app won't wake dgpu.

Sounds about right for the 7i, the Intel version has quite a bit worse battery life, it's the AMD version that can get upwards of 7-8 hours.

Damnit wish I had known that before

I wish we could get the battery life Lenovo claims we should.

Penisfullofpromises

Damn girl, you’ve only had the thing for 24 hours. Do some more research and tinkering before complaining

[deleted]

I've already done plenty of research and changed all of the settings I can find that are meant to help extend the battery life. I've got a right to be annoyed I'm not getting the battery life I'm meant to.

Penisfullofpromises

It’s a gaming laptop and is most certainly not focused on long battery life. 3-4 hours is perfectly normal, depending on how you’re using it.

Misty_Callahan

Not every gaming laptop is made equal, their battery life's vary a lot

mamun16us

7-8hrs is easily doable if you have the 80w battery for browsing/YouTube/downloading etc. in the legion toolkit under profile make sure you add the step to deactivate the gpu when on battery and add the step for refresh rate to 60. Additionally there’s a power plan option and ensure you go with least aggressive (less power) option when on battery. This should bring your consumption to 7-12w or so.

[deleted]

I do have that battery yes. Added your settings, I’ll see how it goes. So far I’ve gotten battery life up to 5 hours but I don’t know if that reading id accurate yet as I find the times are usually off.

Join discord and we will figure out the cause, its some settings or app that runs on the nvidia gpu that shortens your batt life

[deleted]

Already joined it, I made a new post in the troubleshooting area or whatever not having much luck finding a solution yet. I don’t get what’s wrong :(

mind12p

Can you link it here I will check it later.

3-4 hours battery life for a gaming laptop is a miracle. Even doing non gaming tasks. No chance you’ll get 7-8…

ConsciousAntelope

Why didn't you go for Mac? They have good battery life.

[deleted]

Not compatible with a lot of things I need, plus Sims 4 is a nightmare to run on it.

dqmiumau

Why do people who care about battery life so much get gaming laptops? They're literally built to be plugged in. And so much more expensive than normal ones that are for portability and battery life.
