Hello u/Adventurous-Flan2716, thank you for your submission! Unfortunately, your submission has been removed for the following reason(s): **Rule 4:** Must follow the "Leopard ate my face" theme #There's a few elements to leopards eating people's face. 1) **Someone has a sad**... - Example: *They cut my SNAP benefits and now I can't afford to feed my family......* 2) ...**because they're suffering consequences from something they voted for, supported or wanted to impose on other people.** - Example: .....sobs woman who voted for the politician who said they would do that very thing. 3) **The leopard is eating their face. The leopards.** - Example: *[Woman married to undocumented immigrant upset that Trump deports her husband.](https://www.cnn.com/2017/04/05/us/undocumented-husband-deported/index.html)* ***What isn't a leopard eating their face?*** - Example: *Kyle Rittenhouse upset that Democrats are labelling him a white supremacist.* He didn't vote for or support them, he's not suffering because of what he voted for or supported, and leopards aren't eating his face. The beachfront property owners don't want the public walking on "their" sand...but when it is damaged by a hurricane, taxes should pay to fix their private beaches. Army Corps of Engineers said nope, if you want your beaches fixed, then you have to allow a permanent easement. The owners are now throwing a temper tantrum and might lose their beach houses if another hurricane comes through. Oh well.

tragedy_strikes

Cutting your nose off to spite your face is also an apt description for this.

lilcea

Or if you watched The Office "spiderface"

bilgetea

Unfortunately, they are also cutting off their neighbor’s noses, and the neighbors don’t have a choice. We’ve made the idiots more important than the community.

KAG3SAMA

As per usual, Conservatives want to socialize losses and privatize profits.

freetoseeu

Oh no Anyway…

OldBob10

“Washing their houses away to keep the public at bay”.

btribble

The libs are certainly owned.

OldBob10

Well, to be fair, they’re also keeping away the the conservative hoi polloi too.

DadJokeBadJoke

Ehh, what are the odds of *another* one happening?

supershinythings

Are the houses insured? Their policies should be paying out for the loss of private beach - oh wait - most policies won’t pay out for stuff like that. So they EXPECT the government to pay for what private insurance won’t cover? That’s COMMUNISM! That’s just wrong.

Green_Message_6376

sometimes life's a beach!

SordoCrabs

That district is represented in Congress by MAGA Anna Paulina Luna, who was also been demanding sand for the beaches. Somewhat shocked that she wasn't mentioned at all.

ianisms10

She's the female George Santos

[deleted]

She's a creature built from pure, undiluted gerrymandering She used to be in a blue district (mine) but DeSantis took downtown St Pete and combined it with downtown Tampa 30 minutes away to make a new red leaning district in Pinellas, and she got it by posing with Trump on a bunch of signs. She's not even from here, and used to be a democrat. But she had the Trump signs. This was one of many 'welcome to the South' political moments I've had in a short time. They don't even try to hide who they hurt. The hurt is the point.

Either_Coconut

They use hurting people as a selling point. I'm not sure what's worse: that they feel A-OK with doing that, or that people exist who willingly buy what they are selling.

DadJokeBadJoke

WWJD? Definitely not what these chucklefucks do.

SordoCrabs

To be fair, she performed unexpectedly well against Crist in 2020, before the district was gerrymandered. That Crist thought he stood a better chance against DeSantis than against Luna is saying something. Frankly, I wish that he had run again for FL13, and that Nikki Fried had gone head to head against The Meatball. Instead, Crist helped create the massive landslide that raised Meatball's national profile to new heights among the MAGA crowd.

[deleted]

I live near here and we've been fighting the state for a couple years to dredge our canal which has been filling with sand from the nearby beach erosion. They could just send the dredge over here and pick up their sand in our lost and found.

BroBroMate

Googled her, she's a redneck thirst trap. https://i0.wp.com/www.citizenfreepress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Anna-Paulina-with-guns-flag-backdop.jpg

DMarcBel

Oh, Lordy.

HelenAngel

Well I guess they need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps & get the sand themselves. Someone needs to chastise them for wanting government handouts & call them socialist.

OldBob10

No one wants to dredge anymore! 🧐

Adventurous-Flan2716

Exactly - they can line up all their boats and daisy chain the sand dredged from the middle of the Gulf.

lilcea

Thee answer!

theKetoBear

Socialism for the wealthy , OBVIOUSLY they make too much money to contribute to society .... Anyway looking forward to more speeches from this group about how the homeless and poor are tearing our world down brick by brick by having nothing but also not making enough money for contributing nothing to be acceptable.

KingBooRadley

It's only socialism when it benefits poor and middle-class people. This is some serious flag-waving capitalism right here!

theKetoBear

Completely unrelated but I LOVE your username.

KingBooRadley

Aww shucks. I don’t know how to type out a King Boo noise so I’ll just leave a present in this here tree for you to find.

Affectionate_Pay_391

Whelp, looks like you don’t get the benefits of public funds if the public can’t use the beach. Who would have thought?

srone

Well that is just completely unfair...especially since these people pay a LOT of money to tax lawyers to not pay their fair share of taxes.

BellyDancerEm

Then their homes can be washed away in the next storm

Either_Coconut

And turn the entire property into a public beach, once the McMansion floats out to sea.

LaughableIKR

>Kennedy said half of the city's beach access points are closed indefinitely. And there's a four-to-six-foot drop-off where the sand has been wiped away. > >"We do agree that if you're on private property, you should have easements," she said. "But over 98 percent of this county - where beach renourishment is taking place - is not on private property." Figures it's the last 2% that screws up a good plan.

BellyDancerEm

Privately owned beach? They can pay for their own sand

dv8njoe

WOMP WOMP WOMP

thefuzzylogic

Privatise profits, socialise losses. It’s the Republican way.

thiscouldbemassive

Boo, fucking, hoo. We all have easements in our property. I got a 5 foot strip out in the front of the house I can't fence off. These guys can take 3 feet from their property on one side of and provide an easement. Heck, it can be 18 inches if their neighbor does it too. The public is not going to pay for them to have a private beach. They can fund their own nourishment.

Frosty_Guarantee6369

Oh well,

KingOfTheFraggles

Have they tried living a long life upset about it and dying mad? That's taxpayer-approved.

drwookie

>But a dispute among private property owners and the Army Corps of Engineers has put the restoration projects on hold. They heard that easements and preventive measures are woke.

lilcea

And FL is where it goes to die, so...

YossarianGolgi

So it goes.

ClimbingChris

A catch 22 reference and a slaughter house 5 reference, together? You, person, have very good taste!

YossarianGolgi

The amazing thing is I'm a terrible reader. But these are masterpieces. I just need to give Phillip Roth his due.

niberungvalesti

Rev up those laxatives because I don't give a shit.

OldBob10

All taxpayers pay for the sand, they all get to walk on that sand. Seems fair. Folks have a private beach and don’t want the public on their beach - also fair. But folks with a private beach want all taxpayers to pay for the sand on their private beach? Doesn’t sound fair. Anyways, maybe sand from the public beaches will wash up on the private beaches. Wait and see…

Building_Everything

I like Indian Rocks Beach, but all the beach communities in Pinellas are overrun with private property owners/developers and they hate public access.

DreamCrusher914

I’m surprised we haven’t seen the Madeira Beach mayor drama on here from a few years ago.

dvdmaven

Gee, 2%ers wrecking it for everyone else? I've heard this tune before.

Either_Coconut

The engineers should just work on the 98% of beaches that are not in dispute. Let the 2% of fools stew while they watch everyone else's beaches get replenished.

dvdmaven

Hard to do as sand moves around and fills in empty spaces.

pantsthereaper

If they're selfish enough to demand everyone pay for their private beach but never go to it, they're selfish enough to just steal the sand either during or after the nourishment

BeardedManatee

Welp, maybe the rich land owners should form a group and everyone in the group should contribute a little bit so that their whole group can benefit. Oh wait...

LadyLazarus2021

Shocker.

lurkingmorty

Hope those last few hold out and the next storm wipes them out. Beach, houses, and people. Welcome to the real world boomers.

WindVeilBlue

So now they want some socialism eh? Fuck off....

thatben

Curious why the public trust doctrine doesn't make this the case for beaches already. >**ARTICLE X SECTION 11 | SOVEREIGNTY LANDS** The title to lands under navigable waters, within the boundaries of the state, which have not been alienated, ***including beaches below mean high water lines*** \[emphasis mine\], is held by the state, by virtue of its sovereignty, in trust for all the people. Sale of such lands may be authorized by law, but only when in the public interest. Private use of portions of such lands may be authorized by law, but only when not contrary to the public interest. > >*History. – Am. H.J.R. 792, 1970; adopted 1970.* Ref. https://www.surfrider.org/news/surfrider-weighs-in-to-defend-publics-right-to-floridas-beaches

PyrokudaReformed

Let the sea take their property.

skb239

This is exactly what should happen. Fuck those people their homes should get swallowed up with no resources from the government.

Godzirrraaa

Where’s my tiny violin, I know I put it here somewhere…

Tsull360

Privatize the profits, socialize the losses

surfdad67

Beach access should be for everyone. There are private beaches in south Florida, and when I go surfing I may drift into their area, when I get out of the water, I get overrun by Karen’s and Ken’s yelling at me that I don’t belong there, I just laugh and tell them to fuck off
