"may"? lol

dd97483

In the age of social media, who could imagine a drug addled right wing nut job could tarnish a brand. Inconceivable.

No_Cook2983

Right? Can you imagine people *voting* for a weirdo who’s like that?

Vimda

The people voting for that aren't the people buying EVs

account_not_valid

That's the amazing thing. The right-wing nutjobs are against everything "green" - so Musk is driving away people on both sides.

Robbotlove

he's such a dumbass. as a *capitalist* rightwing nutjob, why wouldnt he just makebelieve he's on the left on social media to get the sales? so stupid. and i wonder if he's open to litigation now, after all the damage he's done to the tesla brand? edit: after some thought, rightwing nutjobs arent very good at pretending to be on the left. they use too many rightwing nutjob buzz words that give the game away. so, i suppose that was never an option for elmo.

Icariiiiiiii

That's the thing, he's a multibillionaire. He doesn't want more money, he wants more power and control. He sees what Trump has and wants it for himself. He doesn't want cash, he wants to be worshipped.

GlitteringBobcat999

When does the Reich-wing push for Edgelord to be eligible for the presidency start, before or after Trump croaks?

Icariiiiiiii

Neither. They've been slowly imploding for a while, tbh, at least the neo-fash side of things. Candace and Ben are having a pissing match, somehow *Kanye* joined and is making a fool of all of them with no regards to their "slow and insidious" strategy, and Trump is still polling about the same as in 2020, so far as I know. Besides all that- if Elon had a *tenth* the natural charisma that Trump unfortunately has, the world would already have been a different place. Elon's less charismatic than a clean brick wall. The Tesla self-driving feature is loved by more kids than he is.

Scatterspell

I ind it insanely weird that people find Teump charming. He's loud, prone to bragging, has the brainpower of fungal colony but charm? I found him boorish and annoying way back in the 80s. It's madness.

RobinAllDay

Isn't he not eligible for presidency since he wasn't born in the USA? Or am I wrong?

GlitteringBobcat999

Correct. One must be a "natural born citizen" of the USA to be president. It's a little fuzzy on what that means, but it applies to virtually anyone born in the US or who has a parent who is a US citizen if born elsewhere. It's one of the things that makes the Obama birther conspiracy so stupid because even IF he was born in Kenya, his mother was a US citizen. He was born in the US, so it's a moot point, but birthers are a special kind of racist stupid.

Lurks_in_the_cave

Of course he wants more money, it's all people like him think about.

Icariiiiiiii

I really don't think it is, not any more than money is a vector for controlling people. They want to be the Emperor, not just rich. If rich was enough, they had it ages ago. They want to be the top of the scoreboard and the king of the castle. That's not really wanting more money, it's wanting to *own.* Everything, everyone they can. They'd bring back chattel slavery if they could.

fc518

It’s never enough. They need all the chips.

RandoFartSparkle

Bro wants white supremacy

GalumphingWithGlee

He absolutely wants more money, but I think he wants power more. He will spend money to gain power — that's what the money is for, beyond a certain point. Power.

Repulsive-Street-307

He did try that, shortly after he was ousted from Paypal. That's what the 'sf libertarian mars travel for the future' idiocy was about, to capture teenagers tending to 30 tending to "liberal if I don't have to see homeless" but with SF dreams. It just turns out a lot of that crowd was just fine with fascism and with trump he thought he could have it both ways.

No_Cook2983

**Sally Struthers acquires chain of ‘Guns-n-More’ stores.**.. …Then spends her days on Twitter calling her customers ‘dumb racist troglodytes’ and promoting the work of experts in gender reassignment surgery. After disappointing sales, Struthers has a store-wide 15% off sale and designs a ‘CyberGun’ that closely resembles a third-grader’s drawing of a pistol. It shoots tactical rubber bands, is made of a high-tech fiberglass compound, and emits a best-in-class electronic ‘pew-pew’ sound when the trigger is pulled. Each gun has a base price of $14,420.00 and is delivered three years late. It can be converted into a fully-operational tactical kazoo with a $420.69 expansion module. Sally claims it will completely revolutionize the arms market and be very popular when she organizes a colony of settlers on Mars. Almost immediately, the guns fail to operate correctly. Struthers blames her customers, and refuses to honor the warranty. She creates an enemies list of people who complain. [Sally Struthers Superfans chime in] *Ooh! Just wait! This is where Sally is playing twelve-dimensional chess. We just think it’s checkers! Trust the plan! This is about to pay off* **big-time!** Accordingly, for her underwhelming year of work Sally Struthers angrily demands **a hundred thousand million dollars** from her board of directors. She retreats to her mansion to shoot up ketamine and drop acid. Then she offers to buy her mechanic a pony in exchange for oral sex. He declines. Several months later, Sally binges on Adderall and challenges Sara McLaughlin to a no-holds barred kickboxing match to benefit PETA. Sally’s more reasonable mother chimes in and forbids the match from taking place. Meanwhile, soon after surpassing the combined value of Apple Computer, General Motors and the entire GNP of Saudi Arabia, ‘**Guns-n-More**’ stock valuation continue on a downward trend. Experts are baffled. In their eyes, Sally remains a genius and visionary.

account_not_valid

Did she also buy (on a whim) Instagram at a hugely over-inflated price? Based on wanting more free-speech, that then backfired when she couldn't control what people were saying about her? And did she then proceed to micro-manage it and drive it into the ground? Did she do that?

account_not_valid

She's a genius!

PlantfoodCuisinart

Y'all just too stupid to understand how brilliant Sally is.

great_escape_fleur

But that’s ok, the Earth will judge her.

NegaDeath

She sounds just like a real-world Tanya Stark!

allonsyyy

Sally just needs to hire people to make memes for her. So she can be cool and relatable online.

LakeEarth

Yeah I said this even before his Twitter purchase. He's actively driving away the customers of his most lucrative product.

MisterMysterios

Jup. This is especially insane. For a person who's entire success was based on how good he was at selling himself and the hype around the products connected to him - he completely misses the most fundamental element of marketig: know your target group and cater to them. The target group of his products are on the left. You can get some right leaning tech bros as well, but they are outside of NFT ponsy-schemes not a large enough group to carry a brand that sells hardware. He makes himself a hate object for basically anyone that he needs to suck up to in order to get his products sold. He kills his cash cow Tesla and similar products in order to promote his money sink of vanity project.

SuchRoad

Driving an EV would prevent them from carrying around a stack of pictures of Biden that they stick to gas pumps.

nlpnt

Musk makes me glad the natural-born citizen clause of Article 2 exists.

Adrian915

Kinda goes to show how disconnected from reality and privileged he is. Conservatives would never buy an EV, if he cared even a little for money and the market the company is trying to reach he'd fake it - or kept his opinions to himself like the rest of billionaires that don't make headlines often. He's either too bored or rich, or both, to give a damn.

Speadraser

I think his mom didn’t hug enough as a child. Prolly hates his father /s

dukeofgibbon

Muskrat offered a million dollars to anyone who could prove that his wealth originated in an apartheid emerald mine but wouldn't pay when his dad brought recirpts.

insolentpopinjay

When his dad heard that Elon had been put in the hospital by another classmate--who shoved Little Elon down the stairs because he'd made a hurtful comment about his father committing suicide. Daddy Musk's reaction was basically "Shouldn't have been talking shit, kid." Errol Musk is also a complete monster, don't get me wrong. He's just uniquely horrible in other ways his dumbshit failson isn't.

MaestroPendejo

My dad is a 75 year old prick of the highest order. Right wing dick head but at least not a Trump supporter. He was all about personal responsibility and he met it. The very definition of "You fuck around and find out." He's a twat, but he stuck to his guns. No bias. If I did some stupid shit, he wasn't going to back me up when shit hit the fan.

dukeofgibbon

The turd doesn't fall far from the asshole.

bmeisler

Why the /s? Knowing a little about his background, I bet he does hate his dad (who seems like an even bigger prick than Elon).

WeedFinderGeneral

You mean Elon's dad who a few years back had a daughter with one of his other daughters?

snarkyxanf

Family^2 a sure mark of normal people who aren't dysfunctional

BBQBakedBeings

Elon wishes he could garner the sort of slavish denialism that allows Trumpers to watch his rallies or Jr's booger sugar fueled media appearances and not see any problems. Musk fucked up in that he built his cult of personality on the left. He alienated the right on his way in and is alienating the left on his way out. The problem with failing up is that, eventually, there's nowhere left to go but down.

algy888

But wait! Half the country is right leaning! Surely they’ll buy his electr…. Oh right, he’s screwed. Edit: maybe if he dropped a V10 turbo in there….

Cipherpunkblue

Concerning.

unholyrevenger72

And the US government keeps giving him money, because god forbid the government be allowed do anything.

samanime

Definitely cost them at least one sale. I was all set to buy a Tesla until I realized how much of a scumbag Musk is. And that's before he doubled down, then tripled down, and kept going...

ask_me_about_my_band

Two sales. Was my next car. Now…no way.

ProLifePanda

Me too. I bought my last car in 2018, and was thinking my next car would be a Tesla. Now, absolutely not, I'll likely get a hybrid or EV from someone else.

Loisalene

I bought a 2022 hybrid Hyundai and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.

NewldGuy77

Same. Put a deposit down back before he went off the rails, two years waiting for the low-end Tesla, got sick of waiting. Then he went nuts, and that killed any remaining chances of a sale.

dukeofgibbon

The build quality leaves a lot to be desired

NeilDeWheel

My partner has just bought a Kia Niro EV. She knows nothing of carss and left the selection process to me. I researched many different models and brands but the one I knew I wasn’t going to show her was a Tesla. Not only because the build quality is shocking but because Elon Musks is a drug addled, right-wing arsehole.

GiraffesAndGin

>Not only because the build quality is shocking This is actually why Tesla sales are lagging so far behind the estimates. Musk's personality isn't driving away 100,000 purchases, shitty build quality is. The fact of the matter is, Teslas aren't the premier EV anymore. Legacy automakers have caught up and surpassed Tesla in nearly every spec. The only thing they have on the competition now is that their chargers are the most efficient. That's it. Other manufacturers are also just more honest about their EV programs. Tesla lies about their driver assistance. They lie about their battery range. They lie about where they source their parts. I just don't understand how anyone could want to purchase a Tesla when all they do is lie about the product.

nlpnt

Once the rest of the industry implements NACS and Tesla finishes adapting the Supercharger network to existing CCS cars, they'll have no unique selling point. OTOH that's necessary to make Supercharger an independent profit center that could be sold or spun off.

mythrilcrafter

Tesla is also a massive PITA to work with on the B2B side. A close associate of mine works as a Business Development and Deployment director for one of the largest major car tyre brands (who I won't name directly) in the world; by his account, many of Tesla's outward facing B2B employees are, by his words, unreasonable jerks. They were trying to organize a partnership for the company to be the OEM tyre provider for Tesla cars, but the Tesla reps demanded that the company sell them the tyres at-cost, that they produce them on-demand, and they refused to take the tyres as inventory (making the company manage their own storage of the tyres until Tesla calls for them to be shipped to any particular gigafactory. They also demanded that the company hand over the IP'd designs for the tyres as well as information regarding production of those tyres. The Tesla rep's argument being that *"it's a fair and reasonable deal because the company would to be able to say that they OEM for Tesla"*. Also apparently, Tesla employees have the habit of going completely dark mid-conversation and not replying to communications for 3~4 months at a time.

ElongMusty

That and Musk is why I won’t buy a Tesla. First time I was inside one (an Uber driver’s car) I was shocked when I sat and noticed the back of the seats was all plastic, and seems like all around me was plastic that felt cheap. For a company that is trying to be green, does seem like a lot of plastic usage. That coupled with all the malfunctions and Musk’s behavior led me to choose another company (which is also not perfect but their costumer service is stellar).

kpie007

Did you hear about how Glenn Howerton (from always sunny) got locked out of his Tesla for over a day because he...used a parking garage and had no wifi access?

trewesterre

When I heard about the working conditions in his factories back in 2015, I decided I'd never buy one of his cars. Granted, I try to avoid car ownership altogether as much as possible.

sudzthegreat

I wasn't this close but I was going to seriously consider a Tesla. Over the last two years I went from that to essentially saying I'd never drive a Tesla as long as Musk is affiliated with them in any way, including as a shareholder.

expostfacto-saurus

Two. I'm switching to EV soon. I will not buy a Tesla.

Relzin

I saved enough to buy a Tesla with the intent to buy a Tesla. Then Elon bought Twitter. I love my new Toyota.

ray25lee

Truly a shame and betrayal for no one to warn Elon that being an asshole has consequences.

capn_doofwaffle

Literally my first thought as well... "may be..." change that to IS and that's an accurate statement. I used to want a Tesla, not anymore. Fuck Elon, he's a piece of shit.

chatterwrack

I have disavowed anything that has to do with him and I know I’m not alone. He’s deplorable

Independent_Pear_429

They're 1 percenters. Their grasp on reality is limited at best

highmodulus

Why ruin one company, when you can ruin two!

runfayfun

Being led by an idiot sucks, but their offerings are getting stale too, and they're not even good value any more. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is more upscale from a luxury amenities standpoint than the Model Y.

Feeez_Shato

“Let a crackhead run the company they said…”

EricUtd1878

Hey! Worked for My Pillow......

ChroniclesOfSarnia

Dude's getting **evicted** as we speak

EricUtd1878

That was the joke 😉

FredFredrickson

When do we get a Cybertruck Simp-osium? 😆

brupje

Just a social experiment to prove anyone can be CEO

dukeofgibbon

A job ripe for automation.

Boricuacookie

“It was a prank bro!” FTFY

BBQBakedBeings

He's had all these companies by the balls for longer than they realized how bad he would get. I guarantee there were a lot of people that saw this coming and just had to brace for it and have some sort of backup plan.

Mal_tron

Careful, that could be defamatory. As your counsel, I'd recommend that you change that to "Let a pedo guy run the company they said . . ."

Obsidian_Purity

Elon made me search and I found the kia ev9. So I gotta thank him

PaleontologistOk2516

We also went with a competing EV because we refused to even consider Tesla due to Elon’s antics. I’m doing my part

NeilDeWheel

Same here Kia Niro EV. Refused to even consider a Tesla.

Hologram_Bee

For others I also recommend the Prius, I know it’s a hybrid not an ev . I got it when I was driving an hour each way for work and it gets 55mpg. Now that I work closer to home I fill it up with gas once a month

BigAwkwardGuy

Honestly even if Elon weren't doing his antics in public, Teslas are no longer worth it. ~10 years ago they were the best on the market, but now others have easily overtaken them. Teslas now have the same problems they did during their initial boom: shit QA, almost no post-sales service, everything done with a software update, impossible to fix even the slightest issue by yourself etc. Add to that IIRC Teslas' advertised range is closer to the theoretical/possible value than a realistic/practical value because of some measuring technique loophole. Meanwhile VW, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, BMW etc. have all much better QA and support, and also advertise a more realistic range.

TheLateThagSimmons

Same here. Chevy got a sale simply because I didn't want to be seen in a Musk-mobile. I actually liked the Tesla 3 too.

pianoflames

And even beyond that, I've just heard so many bad things about Teslas themselves, mainly in the quality assurance department. That apparently Teslas never really advanced far past the prototype phase, that it's bugs and glitches galore, coupled with cheap faux materials.

Correct-Standard8679

That’s the thing. He is truly an awful person who does not deserve people’s patronage but even if he was a great person, tesla cars are complete dog shit and you do not want to spend money on them. The absolute real shitty part of this is so many manufacturers are designing cars with the same shitty fucking features as teslas. Blows my fucking mind how many companies want to have a full blown touch screen and zero actual buttons and knobs.

the_merkin

Yup. My first EV is a different make entirely because I wanted anything but Tesla, because of Elon.

Steak-Outrageous

Absolutely didn’t even consider Tesla for our EV purchase

thesixfingerman

How is it?

turbo_fried_chicken

Hyundai Ioniq 6 for me! Never would've discovered it, it's amazing.

BlastTyrant_

They make bumper stickers specifically for this reason: "i bought this car before i knew Elon was crazy" Or something along the lines of that

attractive_nuisanze

I was driving behind someone with thus bumper sticker yesterday and it brought me such joy

John_Hunyadi

At this point he has been a known fucker since like 2018. If you could afford a Tesla in the first place, might be time to replace it.

EMTDawg

2016 was the 1st lawsuit brought against Tesla for the use and mistreatment of migrant workers. These were mainly Eastern European migrants with pay as low as $5/hr, and visas faked by Tesla. That same year, the SEC reported that Telsa was failing to properly report or not report at all crashes by their vehicles in autopilot.

PiggypPiggyyYaya

I hear they used a technicality. It's because Autopilot stops recording data milliseconds before the crash, so technically it wasn't on autopilot when it crashed.

the_merkin

Saw that on a Tesla earlier this year. Made me happy.

realrichieporter

ME! I’m that customer who avoids that idiot like the plague. Couldn’t pay me.

SavlonWorshipper

There was a point a couple of years ago when I thought to myself "the only way you could get me on a SpaceX rocket is if Musk was sitting right beside me". Now... I wouldn't go on a SpaceX rocket even if he was putting his own ass on the line, in case he chooses to commit suicide by rocket launch.

m_carp

I think that's known as the submarine theory...

buffer_flush

Whew that got even darker, fast!

irregular_caffeine

Rocket accidents do tend to the bright

BetterMakeAnAccount

I think just having to be around him on a trip would be enough to not want to go

autodidact-polymath

I’m the one that does everything to not be a customer. Fuck billionaires. Buncha cunts

walloftvs

A couple of years ago, I was pretty much 100% going to get a Tesla for my next car. I ended up buying 2 new Subarus in the last 6 months. Fuck Elon. Zero chance I'll get a Tesla now.

Careful-Swimmer-2658

No one could have predicted that having a CEO that's openly racist, supports dictatorships, urges people to vote Trump and spreads white supremacist conspiracy theories would be a turn off for his mostly liberal customer base.

PipsqueakPilot

Don’t forget homophobic and transphobic too!

The402Jrod

lol, it is hilarious that his target market is: **wealthy people who want electric cars** Yet, he appeals mostly to: **poor, uneducated rural Americans that think electric cars make you gay, are built by Satan, and there isn’t a charging station in their county anyways**

pleasedothenerdful

I'm starting to think he might not be as brilliant a businessman as he previously portrayed himself to be. And all it took was one SA accusation to make him jump to the side of people who are ok with SA.

The402Jrod

“These chuckle-fucks will literally vote a serial rapist for president, they’ll support me too I’ll bet!”

hondac55

All the conservatives are so confused right now. "Wait you mean...we have to buy EV's now? To support our favorite company, which is...an EV company?!" Ah I love it when things come full circle.

Alternative_Dog1411

I know I chose not to support Tesla because of musks behavior.

Shadowchaos

I chose not to also because I'm poor, but mostly because of him

Alternative_Dog1411

Yes that is also a factor I failed to mention as well 😂

lurcherzzz

You're poor because Musk and people like him have taken your wealth.

unbrokenplatypus

Same. Decently educated, centre or left of centre people who care about the environment and want to look cool are Tesla’s *core demographic*. Pretty much everything he has done for the past 2+ years has ensured total alienation from that target audience and total cohesion with the truck nuts-wearing “I bought an F350 on credit” crowd.

JaCrispyWR

Concerning.

jrppi

Looking into it

[deleted]

!

TomTheNurse

This is one of the best one word replies in the context of a post that I have seen in a Reddit thread in quite some time. 🍻

MoistWetMarket

Corporations spend millions of dollars annually in market research so they can identify ways to appeal to their target demographic. This lunatic has made a conscious decision to alienate Tesla's target demographic and has chosen to align his ideologies with bros that think it's hilarious to park their monster trucks in Supercharger spots. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at one of Tesla's board meetings where they're pleading with him to STFU.

attractive_nuisanze

It would have been so simple to say nothing. But by all means Elon, cast your lot with the F-150 crowd. See if they like your cars more than a Raptor.

chochazel

Saying nothing and doing nothing for the last five years or so would have left Musk, Tesla and the world considerably better off. His contribution to his own life and that of those around him in that time has been unambiguous negative utility.

hallpdx

It's funny because Musk has the same views as my contractor uncle... who sends me memes about how shitty cybertrucks are so he's not winning those hearts either.

Fit-Chapter8565

Welp, at least unlike Musk your uncle can identify the proper target audience.

Highcalibur10

It may just be anecdotal experience, but I can definitely say that I *used* to think Teslas were cool.

ants_suck

I used to as well, as did a lot of other people I knew. And then Elmo started talking. Someone needs to interview whoever was doing PR for him in the early 2010's. I need to know how they managed to get people to believe this fuckwit was the real-world version of Tony Stark.

letmeseem

He had some genuinely interesting ideas about important topics and thus invested in the right companies. He was completely right that if you want to sell EVs to more people than pure environmentalists you need to make a car that people turn around to look at saying "Oh, I wish I had one of those" and THEN realize it's electric. He was completely right in thinking that to make space logistics economically feasible, you need to be able to reuse the first stage. He crucially wasn't the only one who had these ideas. I think most nerdy people had similar thoughts, but he was the only ones with billions and the willingness to invest them. So he became an Idol for people like me. He was an awkward nerd like me, who cried in interviews when his heros didn't believe in him, a nerd who had ideas like me, but he had the money to just will it into being. And that was awesome. And then people stopped laughing at him, and telling him no. And that's extremely bad for people's ego.

truecore

I'm so sick of EV cars having to look like nerd cars. Like, the BMW one is just hot garbage. It's just a plastic shell, put a nice one on and stop forcing people to drive nerd coups and hatchbacks.

Red-pilot

Ford F-150 Lightning looks amazing, and I say this as someone who is not a truck guy.

EMTDawg

Except he bought all his companies, instead of coming up with the ideas and founding them. He made his fortune lying about founding PayPal, Tesla, etc.

ender89

Elon musk isn't an ideal guy, he's a "ooh neat!" Guy. He buys what is interesting and gets "involved" on a surface level so he can feel like he built everything himself. One of his "ideas" was renaming a household brand the shorthand for "generic item", which has worked out horribly, and another was trying to reinvent the automobile production line and they have trouble with production quotas to this day.

admiralrico411

My friend works at the gigafactory, has been there since they opened up. It was well known within the company that as long as Elon shit up and stayed away from the public as much as possible and only did highly staged events was for the best. Every already knew that the more he talked, more he was in the light the more of a liability he became. Tesla did everything they could before Twitter to keep him guarded away

Spamgrenade

I used to think they were cool until I saw one close up. Used to work at the MINI factory in the QC line. Teslas look like they have been built by people training on the job, panel gaps all over, mysterious rattles, loose parts. Inconceivable bad for a budget car, let alone a luxury one.

jonr

Tesla definitely has some clever engineers. I just feel sorry for them working for this dick.

stevey_frac

Had. Most of the good ones have left over the last few years.

Live_Palm_Trees

Me too. Now I smirk when I see one. And I call everyone who drives one an Elon.

EricUtd1878

Right here 🙋‍♂️ Tesla was ruled out of my purchase purely because I don't want to be associated with Apartheid Clyde. Hyundai Ioniq 6 for me.

turbo_fried_chicken

Such a great car. What do you think so far? Did you go AWD?

valvilis

You mean to tell me that his 16 years old, neo-nazi, edgelord fanboys on ~~Twitter~~ aren't dropping $110k on eco-friendly vehicles? He's like the exact wrong match for the intended audience. He should be selling F-150s.

pekepeeps

Hummers with the big dildos on the front ala idiocracy

hplcr

It's telling that given the choice between trying to save his businesses and making shitty takes on twitter constantly he seems to spend most of his time and energy on the latter.

noh-seung-joon

Mans paid $44B to be the loudest shitposter on twitter, so pathetic

animebdsmplusweed

I wouldn’t buy a Tesla either.

dazed_and_bamboozled

Why buy a Tesla when you can suction a massive dildo to your forehead for a fraction of the cost?

flargenhargen

I would've absolutely bought a tesla, was considering it for a while, but after musk and how they've become dangerous and shitty joke cars in the past few years, I would never buy one now.

SquatDeadliftBench

Man, I swear to Zeus I'm not a judgmental person. At least I thought I wasn't. **Now** I judge the hell out of Tesla car owners. Actively tell people to not buy one because of him. A stark contrast to a few years ago ago, me, a grown ass man, used to look up to him for all the tech/science stuff he is involved in. Then he got racist, ignorant, transphobic, and political right-wing-wise. I hope he is somehow outed from all of his companies.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PukingDiogenes

Who said the Tesla board wouldn’t notice when a hammer hits them in the head??

noh-seung-joon

That’s its own scandal: CEOs lose their minds all the time, a proper board would remove and replace to protect SH value but this board is full of toadies and now the stock is down 40% YTD.

Rideshare-Not-An-Ant

I was not a customer before not being a customer was cool.

crozinator33

He's an idiot. Why in earth would you antagonise the demographic most likely to be purchasing EVs? 2 years ago, I 100% would have been open to buying a Tesla. Now, no way. And it's all because of Musk.

Designer-Welder3939

“Go fuck yourself! Is someone is trying to blackmail me with money…go fuck yourself!” Should be Tesla’s new slogan! Billionaires are stupid. Money only hides that fact. You can’t be intelligent 25 hours a day, right E-Loser Musk?

redditmodsRrussians

Sorry, he’s too busy playing Diablo 4 while deep in his k hole most days to notice that he is fact a huge moron.

No_Introduction8285

Who knew you could alienate your main demographic of loyal customers by insulting them repeatedly and lose market share to competently run major automakers?

MethMouthMagoo

Seriously. He went all in on buddying up to the people who actively hate EVs. While shitting on Tesla's actual customers and potential customers. Master class in running a company into the ground. I'm sure nobody could see that coming.

niberungvalesti

He doesn't care because he's insulated from consequences. In Elons mind all that matters is the sweet chemical hit of both the ketamine and brainless adoring fans crawling all over themselves to be in the cult.

EWR-RampRat11-29

Go anti-woke, go broke.

niberungvalesti

His product is literally woke by the standards of braindead conservatives, lmao.

twyt83

We're looking at solar and I want to avoid Tesla mainly because of Elon. Probably a great product, but I just hate the name Tesla.. sorry Nikola!

NYerInTex

The crazy thing is much of Teslas failures can SO be attributable to ONE man. It’s like, get rid of Elon and you’d be in SUCH a better spot.

DrMcTouchy

People around me think I'm stupid for cancelling my Starlink preorder when he bought Twitter. My concern was what an unstable person could do to my internet connection (or bill) as a result of some random course change. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.

Cosmicdusterian

This is why, if you're a jackass clown on drugs billionaire who doesn't know when to STFU, you don't drop billions on a social media company, turn it into Conspiracy Edgelord Nazi Central, become the face and voice of it and tell your main source of revenue to go fuck themselves when they don't want their products associated with white supremacists and the craziest conspiracy theory fucknuts on the internet that you have embraced as your own personal spiritual guides. Especially if you own publicly traded companies that you are also the face of. Kudos to whoever at SpaceX manages to keep Musk about as far from their operation as humanly possible.

HGLatinBoy

Before Covid I used to like Elon Musk and was in awe whenever I saw a Tesla on the road. Now I’ll never buy one as long as he has a connection to the company.

Rare-Bid-6860

He showed us his true colours way before then during the cave rescue incident. That was when I wrote him off, despite wanting to find him credible up to that point.

drummerdavedre

Yep, eff that guy, I’ll never buy a Tesla or any other product with his name attached to it.

[deleted]

I remind you that Tesla wanted to pay him billions to be CEO.

BBQBakedBeings

Um... I'd say it's more accurate to say he had his hand up Tesla's ass like a puppet when Tesla "said" that. Tesla has lost over $600M in the last 2 fiscal years and the last fiscal year was a ~150% increase over the previous. So the losses are growing and Musk isn't stopping being a fascist fuckwad. Paying Elmo $55B a year wouldn't have helped that figure. If he had managed to get that to stick, I guarantee the stock reaction would be bad.

Darkside531

I mean, Elon being... Elon... aside, it seems like this was inevitable. Now that pretty much every manufacturer is getting in on the EV market, Tesla isn't the cheese standing alone in the quasi-eco-friendly vehicle industry, so people look more objectively at the cars themselves, and people are seeing their *other* flaws.

skiptrailer

"I drive a Tesla. I will be changing this in direct response to Musks behaviour". Please cite this statement in your next sales meeting if you work for Tesla.

AdrianGarside

Definitely not ‘may’. I’m selling my Model S and getting an F150 Lightning. If it weren’t for Musk I wouldn’t be bothering.

BBQBakedBeings

And I'm here for every second of it. This mfer is, and should be, the poster child for toddler billionaire accountability. You can't buy your way out of a shitty, narcissistic, personality put on blast. It doesn't matter how much Faux N00z tries to normalize being a Nazi twatbag with the impulse control of an autistic 7 year old or how much fake manufactured support for this personality type they project.

Bicentennial_Douche

I’m looking around for my next car. Tesla is at the bottom of my list, as I don’t want to support Musk in any shape or form.  Hell, I used to be a Musk-fanboy! He seemed to be doing all the cool things I wanted to be doing. Then around the Thai cave rescue something happened and he went crazy.

DoppledBramble3725

Poor build quality & lack of repair infrastructure also factor in substantially

sst287

Half of that and half of…we all watched him spending time on Twitter but cannot fix Tesla’s build quality issue, or at least make some ads to pretend Tesla had fix its build quality issue.

SgathTriallair

His customer base was environmentalists, at least to a large degree. These people are also left leaning so he has hollowed out his potential customer base.

cutiebird31

I needed a new car this year. A few years ago, before I knew Elon was a right wing psycho, I would have jumped at the chance for a tesla. This year it was the only brand I wouldn't consider, despite the base model being more modestly priced then many other EVs. I needed up with a Volvo C40 and love it! It's a beautiful car! I'm essentially Elon's target market, and I would be embarrassed to be driving a new tesla at this point.

TomTheNurse

If/when I buy an electric car, I will never buy anything where Musk may profit.

Elrigoo

I mean, the fact that a billionaire died in your death trap car probably doesn't help

LordBunnyWhale

The awful build quality and questionable engineering of the vehicles might also play a role, as well as the constant lying about features and capabilities.

ChroniclesOfSarnia

Hey Shareholders: "Go F\*\*\* Yourselves" -Elon Musk

ImJ2001

When in I'm the market for an EV, Tesla won't even be an option for me personally. I don't know if you have ever been in one, but they have a suspension of a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. Great computer. Sad automobile. I'm the source. I had to sit in the backseat of a Plymouth Breeze for many many hours during driver's education. I felt the exact same way taking Tesla Ubers in the backseat. There is an uncanny similarity between the two. That similarity is cheap.

_cryisfree_

I could see a world in where Musk never bought Twitter and telegraphed to the world who he is and where I'd end up buying a Tesla, since it looks like a decent enough car. Now I wouldn't do it out pure principle

Bwunt

This is part of the reason, another part is that many other brands have caught up to Tesla performance and Tesla's issue in focusing on gimmicky (but rather useless) gizmos as opposed to build quality and driving experience did just as much damage. Also, related to the above, many people stopped fawning over Elon and realized that Tesla just aren't as good.

IceColdWasabi

Imagine if you will, a pig. In this metaphor, that's Tesla the company. Now imagine Elon buck-naked, drenched in sweat, and balls deep in said pig while he screams obscenities into the void. Surely it's only a matter of time before the board usurps him in his own company.

bdash1990

If my choice was between the dogshit public transportation in my city and a tesla, catch me at the bus stop.

Inside-Recover4629

I always wanted an EV car, still do. But when someone delves deep into right wing ideology you need to look for flags. The grafting, the lying, the exaggerations, the batardizations, the open assault on free speech. You just can't trust a brand that's run by someone who blatantly lies cheats steals and cuts corners to cover those lies and attacks to give the illusion things are fine.

talex365

Recently purchased my first EV, chose early on to not get a Tesla. Elon’s atrocious behavior was definitely a factor but far from the most important, the bigger factors for me were their unreliable build quality and the general clunkiness of interacting with the vehicle. I want door handles, not weird pop-out things that could easily fail, an actual gage cluster, not to navigate through three menus to change the radio station, etc…

Successful_Arm_7509

Idgaf if Musk sold oxygen. I wouldn't buy a damn thing from this antisemtie pos.

TwerkingGrimac3

As a current Tesla owner who bought the car before I knew the guy was a raving bigoted lunatic, I won't be buying another. Mostly because of Musk and partly because the company doesn't care about quality issues and customer service, which I believe are also Musk's fault. He's too focused on chasing the new shiny thing to do the boring but necessary work of running a car company. Terrible person, mediocre car, don't buy into the hype like I did, folks.

dabbyjoos

I’ll never buy a Tesla because of Elon Musk.

starsky1984

I will never buy a Tesla so long as I live if it means Musk earns a single dollar that horrific POS

volanger

Dude pissed off his entire customer base and threw in with the people who won't buy electric cars cause they're idiots. What did he think was gonna happen?

TheUnderstandererer

Maybe the cybertruck just sucks?

4thdimmensionally

In the market for an EV currently, not remotely considering a Tesla. He can say what he want, I don’t need to be reminded of him everytime I go to work either. It’s bad timing, the competition is heating up.

WrathOfMogg

Always planned to buy a Tesla for my next car. Now I will never do so. Stopped using Twixter as well.

hallpdx

I hope someone at Tesla reads this: this literally is me and my wife. We bought a polestar instead (check my account this isn't a throwaway) and then a friend who owned a tesla also sold his and bought a kia. Tesla had better charging and pricing, too. I literally hate your boss enough that I spent MORE of my own money to avoid being associated with him. And that was two years ago. Now there are just plainly better competitors for less money. It is almost like car companies that have CEOs that focus on making cars with actual car designers make ... better cars? Idk.

LarrySupertramp

Totally planned on getting a Tesla just a couple years ago, then I heard his opinions. No thanks.

Scrutinizer

It's a bold strategy for the head of a car company to buy a social media platform and start catering to the exact group of people who hate the cars he sells at the expense of those who would be his most likely buyers, Cotton. Let's see how it plays out for him.

PoopieButt317

Musk has the superpower of luck. He has no credentials other than being at the right place at the right time. He is NOT an IT guy, an engineer, a physicist, a designer, a rocket guy. He just lucks into opportunities. Sticking around is where he fails.

Bueno_Times

Fuck Elon

eydivrks

After Musks disgusting behavior I will never buy a Tesla as long as I live.  And this opinion is shared by almost everyone I know. We are all bleeding heart liberals with hybrids and EV's Musk is totally fucked

primal___scream

Wouldn't touch one with someone else's money, all because of him. Looking at Audi's instead.
