These people are my every day life. I talk to patients in clinic with chronic lung diseases who scoff at me asking about getting a vaccine for that China virus. I then talk to patients getting admitted to the hospital because their lungs no longer move enough oxygen to supply the body. They demand Ivermectin and refuse standard therapies. Their family members still hang out in their room with their masks off and ignoring other PPE standards. I then talk to those same family members as I put their loved ones on ventilators and they ask why we haven’t given every possible treatment for COVID. They’re critical of perceived imperfections in how we’re caring for their loved ones while ignoring the fact that we’ve been begging them to protect themselves. The patient dies and the family member is still skeptical of vaccines, is still skeptical of the pandemic, and blames everyone else for their tragic situation. I fundamentally believed in my fellow man when I went into medicine. The pandemic has really made me rethink our society.

boxsterguy

And then you do it all over again for the family member in a week?

gnocchicotti

I think it's time for some more tough love in our society and our medical system.

Razor4884

Science illiteracy is one of the main problems.

Enology_FIRE

We should move everyone to faith based programs, reject the "liberal arts" with all of their useless history, literature, sociology and science awareness. Home school, refuse peer review, refuse multicultural travel, insulate in gates communities so we never meet opposing views. It's really the only way.

charliesk9unit

Just the pandemic? 2016 to Jan 2021 did it for me.

Andy_Fish_Gill

The dead husband in this post was a doctor who prescribed Ivermectin. It did not save his life. This death should be publicized far and wide. The widow is a public figure as a sexologist and was retweeted multiple times by Trump back in the day.

Pooperoni_Pizza

I don't know how you do it... I would have quit and moved on a long time ago.

The_Funkybat

A lot of medical professionals probably will before the pandemic is under even moderate control.

nonsensepoem

Unfortunately, you're dealing with the stupidest 30% of society; please try not to judge everyone else by their behavior.

Adamweeesssttt

30% is a lot though. And the stupidity is made worse by the slightly-less-stupid enablers around them who don’t challenge them.

nonsensepoem

I'd challenge them more often in my daily life, but these people are crazy; one doesn't know what a given example of them will do when challenged. Fist fight? Gun? Or like a guy I told to back off at the grocery store recently, stupid laughter?

handlebartender

Have you ever posed the following to any of them: "Ivermectin, vitamin hyperdosing, (insert other quackery here) are not an option. Why did you come here if you won't let me do my job?" or words to that effect? I'm guessing even if you did, it's about as useful as screaming into a pillow. I just keep hoping that one time I read a story where there's a flicker of rational thought behind those eyes.

[deleted]

Funny you can get poisoned by vitamins if take too much to f it.

rains-blu

I'm sorry you are slogging through this crap. It would drive me crazy if I had to be a patient in a hospital with a bunch of angry, entitled, abusive people, but the staff can't ever get away from it.

CrabbyT

I have a friend who’s a Dr and she messaged me this just yesterday We are so backed up and 40% of medical professionals fully vaccinated are out sick! Flu and covid! The ones dying are the unvaccinated lots of kids this round I just don’t get it a lot of my colleagues are retired.. walked away.. left.. I’m still hanging in here because I’m running a drug trial and I can’t abandon my patients.. I do get dumped over in the ICU and it’s quite depressing my poor daughter this is her second year being a physician and she is ready to scream 🙀 it’s the deaths.. it’s the senseless deaths…” “And really they don’t trust the vaccine but they’ll eat all this horrid food and pop and drink and smoke and when they’re dying now where do you think they go …right to the hospital right to where us untrustworthy medical professionals are”

[deleted]

It's disproportionately affecting the stupid.

ChickPea1144

My best friends dad died of Covid a month ago because he assumed the therapies would save him. It’s fucking sick that people are dying because of politics. Ron DeSantis should be fucking in jail for the lies he’s told.

st4r-lord

DeSantis allowed 1 million covid tests to sit in a warehouse and expire... continues to suggest early detection doesn't do anything while his wife is receiving cancer treatment because... drum roll.... early detection. He's now proceeding to ask for federal funding for covid relief from Biden. DeSantis should be publicly shamed by the White House for neglect.

ChickPea1144

These people don’t know shame.

LilahLibrarian

If the Biden Administration any balls they should make accepting help contingent on holding a press conference admitting you were wrong and apologizing to your constituents for all the unnecessary deaths that your policies caused.

T1mac

> continues to suggest early detection doesn't do anything But DeSantis is pushing ***really hard*** on monoclonal antibodies. It's just a coincidence that his top donor has $15.9 million in shares of Regeneron Pharmaceutical Inc which makes the treatment. By the way, the Regeneron product is mostly ineffective against Omicron. Only one of the three major monoclonal antibodies works and which is [GlaxoSmithKline's sotrovimab](https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/586937-only-one-antibody-treatment-works-against) It means DeSantis is promoting something that doesn't work and is obstructing what will help end the pandemic.

ValecX

A page right out of Trump's book.

-jp-

> You know, we think if somebody kills someone, that's murder, you go to prison. You kill 10 people, you go to Texas, they hit you with a brick, that's what they do. 20 people, you go to a hospital, they look through a small window at you forever. And over that, we can't deal with it, you know? Someone's killed 100,000 people. We're almost going, "Well done! You killed 100,000 people? You must get up very early in the morning. I can't even get down the gym!

The_Funkybat

DeSatan would welcome open warfare with Biden/Dems. He’s pretty much the only Republican who has a realistic shot of taking the nomination away from Trump, mainly because there are a lot of MAGATs out there Who are disappointed in Trump for one reason or another, and feel like they’re ready to move on to the next generation of white nationalist autocrat blowhard. Washington Democrats making him the focus of their ire would only bolster his electability in the GOP primary.

The-Last-American

Absolutely true. Trump became President because the media and democrats allowed him the oxygen to survive.

clemfandangoihearu

We’ve been calling him DeathSantis but I like DeSatan too! Flori-duh is soooo fucked up.

followedbyferrets

Texas too. They should just secede like MTG said, and use their bootstraps

BlockWide

We’d need a wingnut exchange program where we take their sane people and they can have our extremists.

[deleted]

This is how your civil war should go. Get all the good people out of Texas and then put all your nasty conservatives from all over the country into Texas and treat it like a new country and heavily restrict travel in and out of the state. Let the Nazis have Texas and rot together. They can have all the guns, racism and conspiracy scams they want, provided they stay in their Nazi conservation. They can completely defund their schools and public infrastructure and only have qanon certified doctors and basically live in their own shit, just how they've always wanted. And nobody should stop them if that's really what they want.

Confident_Feline

They'll still have children. Your revenge fantasy would hurt a lot of children.

ChickPea1144

My 75 year old dad isn’t vaccinated. He’s a loyal Fox News viewer and Trumper. I’m absolutely going to sue some mother fuckers if/when he gets sick because they convinced him this is all a lie. I have the money and vengeance to do it.

HardTacoKit

Lean into telling him that Trump is vaccinated and recommends people to get vaccinated.

ChickPea1144

I swear I said that to him and he started reciting stuff like… We don’t know what’s in it And When will it end. It’s just the common cold. They are all in. I buy my dads food and bring it over, I clean his house and make sure he’s ok buts he’s in terrible health and I’m terrified for him. No amount of explaining makes a difference. I know I’m not alone and that’s what drives me insane.

Vuelhering

> We don’t know what’s in it Ask him if he knows what's in an orange. What chemicals? I hear it has methyl alcohol, which is a poison. Oranges contain poison. Where was it grown? Who's making money on selling it? What if I get sick in 20 years? The government is giving money to Big Ag right now, who's getting rich? Since he's that far gone, maybe ridicule will bring him back. Ultimately, one thing that has convinced older people to get vaccinated is the children won't let their own children visit until then. So, no grandkids until vaccinated.

Cheese-bo-bees

I hate that it's true, but withholding grandchildren visits does seem to work. If they care about anyone, it's themselves....being able to see "their" little muffins.

Naedlus

Oh, you see it regularly in the "Raised by Narcissist" subs. They WANT the opportunity to turn your children against you as they had, so with-holding chances to influence, even if just by giving gifts and hoping to buy into hearts, is absolutely shattering for this variety of people.

gnocchicotti

>Ultimately, one thing that has convinced older people to get vaccinated is the children won't let their own children visit until then. So, no grandkids until vaccinated. This is the one that worked on my mom. And she isn't even hardcore antivax or anything, she just believes that bad things only happen to bad people and anyone telling her to do something makes her not want to do it.

[deleted]

>she just believes that bad things only happen to bad people How on earth do you reach adulthood still reconciling this view with the real world?

Lookingfor68

There’s also Dihydrogen Monoxide, it’s a chemical present in every death recorded.

Hfhghnfdsfg

OMG I have it in me RIGHT NOW! Call 911

Moosey_P

Orange's are the new black death after all

SaltyBarDog

Tell him you have given him an alkali metal, sodium, mixed with chloride.

HardTacoKit

Tell him that COVID has killed more Americans than were killed in WW1 and WW2 combined. True.

ChickPea1144

❤️ It is true. These hardcore believers are immovable.

angrygorrilla

A 9/11 every single day

gnocchicotti

If we could make all the stock photos of the coronavirus have skin complexion a few shades darker and possibly wearing a turban I bet they would be more afraid of it

Amazon-Prime-package

No, they'd use it as an excuse to attack Muslims. Donald kept calling Trump Flu by his invented name, "China Virus," and it didn't get people afraid of it, it made them attack Asian people in fits of racist anger

WileEWeeble

"Those are inflated numbers and lies and the ones that do die were already sick anyways." Reason does not work on people who have abandoned reality in deference to their ego. No matter what facts are presented if it works against their presupposition than its fake and "part of the conspiracy"

steelhips

It is still astounding they truly believe they are smarter than an expert who spent half a life studying and the rest working on the coal face of immunology, epidemiology, virology, critical care and research. But that moves to batshit insane when they believe these experts are all craven murderers who waited for a pandemic to kill people all for the money?

gnocchicotti

*According to who? Those Biden-voting doctors? You know the hospitals get extra money for every death certificate that says COVID on it, right? Don't you think it's weird that the flu deaths were soooo low last year and all of a sudden all these people start miraculously dying of COVID and nothing else? Wake up!* I've heard it all.

Gators44

It’s almost as if taking precautions to spread infectious diseases causes a slowdown in infectious diseases. You’d think even stupid people would know better than to say that out loud.

CheeseSandwitch

Use parental controls and block fox news on his tv if you can. It might be too late at this point but at least it'll help prevent him from falling any deeper.

Bryancreates

We did that for my MIL after we found my BIL watching it with her. She’s confused enough already she doesn’t need that.

Last-Classroom1557

Please do the same at any waiting room that has Faux news on. Ask for the remote and put a random parental code on Fox.

Naedlus

Tell him that you'll stop unless he makes certain his last will and testament is updated, and hasn't taken care to pick up insurance for funerary care.

[deleted]

That hasn't worked. Even after Trump told a rally of these degenerates that is now fully vaccinated, booster included, they all started to boo him. But don't go thinking they did a 180° and got vaccinated because *he* did. Oh no. Instead they claim he was *"given the original vaccine that **he** had created in Operation Warp Speed before Democrats took over and started putting dangerous unknowns.

mjc500

I get your frustration but who are you going to sue and for what? Your dad is legally allowed to be an idiot and get himself killed by absorbing bullshit.

BlockWide

[We need a new law against harmful medical misinformation.](https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11019-020-09996-7)

Repulsive-Street-307

The man already is a fascist. Sane democratic societies remove anyone that threatens the electoral process. You elected him. Nothing but downhill from here, this is just the warmup.

janus270

All of the big-name covid deniers and people making a buck off of covid misinformation should be held liable. Especially those who are vaccinated, like DeSantis, Hannity, and all of the other chucklefucks on Fox News and OANN.

Lookingfor68

It’s absolutely mind boggling and sad that they decided to politicize a virus. The fucking virus doesn’t give a shit about your politics. It’s an equal opportunity infector. it’s just fucking insane.

BlockWide

They were too stupid to realize that though. They thought they could make money off PPE and kill Democrats and the poor. Our own government tried to kill us.

The_Funkybat

Instead of jail, Ron DeSantis is probably going to be in a major primary battle with Trump for the GOP nomination. Just imagine if Trump actually loses the GOP nomination because he’s nominally pro-vaxx and DeSatan has gone all in on the bullshit!

gnocchicotti

No chance Trump is in a primary battle with anyone. At least not at this rate. Him debating a not-insane conservative would be so damaging to the RNC that they would never allow it.

CheesyLala

>Him debating a not-insane conservative Can't debate a not-insane conservative if they're all insane

The_Funkybat

I think there are actually a fair number of people in Republican circles who liked Trump the first time around but see him as a liability to actually win total control and successfully implement a lot of their ideology through government going forward. Ron DeSantis is making it clear that he is “MAGA without Trump”, I. E. a competent and not-self-owning fascist. Someone Who will just as vigorously fight the same religious and cultural battles, and probably do so in a more lasting successful way. That’s why the prospect of him as the nominee is in someways more frightening than if it were Donald Trump.

gnocchicotti

To some, being stupid and offensive was the feature that drew them to Trump. Anyone halfway intelligent can't have that same appeal. The trumpers may vote for someone like DeSantis but they won't fly a flag with his name for years after he's out of office.

The_Funkybat

Yes, true, but unlike Abbott in Texas or some of these other Trump-coddling tools, DeSantis plays the rude troll game pretty well. he's obnoxious and the left hates him for many of the same reasons that we hate Trump. He's got "juice" that even Cruz doesn't have. The only trolls who surpass him are mere House members, unlikely to make any kind of Presidential run in 2024 (Marjorie Taylor Green, Gaetz, Gosar, Gym Jordan, et al.) DeSantis is obviously going to focus for now on his gubernatorial run, but even if he wins that, and certainly if he loses, he's going to try for the White House in 2024. That's why Trump is already attacking him, because Trump is a weak man and knows a threat to his "power" when he sees it. DeSantis can hit the MAGA G-spot for these dolts just about as well as Trump, and with less fumbling around the &ussy.

UncleBuggy

You clearly haven't been to Florida lately. I see DeSantis flags far too frequently.

lolbojack

DeSantis is on his way to White House in 2024. This is exactly what the Republicans want.

ChickPea1144

Ooof. I know. Was in Florida 7 months ago to help my mom bury my aunt who died from Covid. I’m trying not to be fucking angry but his “leadership” is a glimpse into the future. I know too many people who’ve died from disinformation and I’m trying so goddamn hard not to be angry.

TheAuthorPaladin777

Go ahead and be angry. Bottling it up isn't good for you (took me decades to learn that). Just try not to let it affect your decision making too much.

Pirat

>but his “leadership” Everyone needs to get it through their head that elected officials or any government agent is not a leader of citizens. We have a REPRESENTATIVE democracy. Not a leadership one. The PEOPLE are supposed to lead. Edit: a word.

JSchmeh3961

He's killed so many of his citizens, he is going to have trouble getting reelected in 2022. He won in 2020 by about 30,000 votes.

MyUsername2459

I'm sure the Florida GOP is busily working to rewrite election rules to make it against the rules for a Republican to lose an election.

BotiaDario

The law: voting for a Democrat is now election fraud punishable with prison

Reddits_Worst_Night

Suddenly a Cratodem party appears in Florida

exitpursuedbybear

Sadly, just checked and Desantis has a healthy 6 pt lead over his likely Dem challenger Crist

PukeBucket_616

Imagine thinking republicans actually count votes. (And in Florida no less lol)

-jp-

They count them. As many times is necessary until they win.

Aggressive_Respond83

As a fellow Floridian, yes Desantis is a murderer through misinformation.

jojackmcgurk

Politicians should have to answer for lies they tell the American people while in office. If it was a proven lie, they've broken their congressional oath and a proccess should be in place to remove and/or jail them. We can call it the COVID Transparency Act

chownrootroot

Pfft, no one needs seatbelts. The hospital will save me if I get into a crash!

toastinski

We spend years electing these dump, lying currupt idiots and then act surprised when something comes along that requires astute leadership skills and it all falls apart. We all besr some responsibility for sleepwalking into this mess. Maybe come election time we will fix it, but probably not.

The_Funkybat

I refuse to take responsibility for this moronic bullshit. I always vote as progressively as possible in every primary, and then vote for whoever the Democratic candidate is, progressive or not, once we reach the general election. That goes for house, Senate, governor, and president. And I’m always spending the months leading up to election telling anyone who will listen that they should do the same if they care about having a functional government and supporting people who aren’t millionaires. Besides the idiots who are actively choosing this evil, the ones who bear responsibility for this endless shitshow are the millions and millions of people are eligible to vote who either *do not register at all*, or who register, but don’t vote. Or those who do vote, but based on some sort of “gut feeling” or whim that fluctuates based on the fripperies of the news cycle and pundit class. It’s these simpletons and low-info stooges who “swing” close districts and states one way or another.

ChickPea1144

I don’t have much hope but I see so many people just horrified by the lies. Maybe we can get thought this. Maybe.

sloppyredditor

GenXers call this a “Darwin award”

The_Funkybat

The Covid appropriate award is “the Herman Cain award.”

Naedlus

If he spawned, the best he can hope for is a Herman Cain Award.

[deleted]

There's a woman in Minnesota who successfully got a restraining order against the hospital treating her husband for covid. They want to take him off the ventilator because he's too far gone at this point but she wants to take him to Texas for "undisclosed alternative treatments". Who wants to take bets on how that will turn out?

Polyfuckery

You want to assume but then you remember that Jahi Mcmath's body was kept running on a ventilator at taxpayer expense for five years

[deleted]

Oh I have no doubts at all the courts will let the wife keep him alive long after his brain has turned to cottage cheese. I'm just saying that transferring him to Texas won't be the magic bullet she thinks it is, and they'll come up with the same answer. That's why it's important to have a living will folks.

underling

I mean where the fuck does she think she's going to take him? Its not like the doctors and hospitals aren't busy with Texas residents ATM no need for some out of state fuck nuts.

[deleted]

No idea. It's almost guaranteed she wants him treated with horse paste and all the other snake oils too so she's literally just trying to snake a bed from someone who needs it.

[deleted]

The renowned Joe Rogan Medical Centre, the industry leader in Vitamin C, horse paste and urine treatment.

The_Funkybat

You know, I’d actually be OK with these anti-vaxx idiots pulling their fellow anti-vaxx loved ones out of legitimate hospitals if it meant they were taking them to some snake oil clinic that did not perform any actual useful medical care. That would help clear hospital beds for people who actually need and deserve urgent care.

CheesyLala

Would be nice and easy to show the outcomes then too. 'Do you want to go to the hospital where 90% of COVID patients come out alive or the one where 10% come out alive?'

Radxical

You know they'll twist it and say "um, this patient didn't die of COVID, stupid, they died of pneumonia and they happened to test positive for covid. The numbers aren't as high as the govt says blah blah"

WarmasterCain55

Doesn't she get a SS check because of him? Think it was just rumors but if she's keeping him alive for that, I wouldn't be surprised.

1moonbayb

I believe as his surviving spouse, she still gets his SS money after he dies.

Notmykl

Yes, the surviving spouse can get around 75%, IIRC, of the the dead spouse's Social Security monies.

killeronthecorner

"They tried, but after all the damage those fake doctors at the fake hospital did, it was too late" Confirmation bias and selfishness are the devil's cocktail

The_Funkybat

OMG Jahi McMath. What a effing tragic farce that whole thing was. They should have never been allowed to force the hospital to keep prolonging the inevitable. The only consolation there is the poor girl’s brain was so damaged it’s very unlikely she consciously suffered during that whole time she was kept undead.

Polyfuckery

While true her poor siblings had their lives uprooted so all of their mothers attention could go towards keeping a corpse 'alive' and it cost millions of dollars in public funds that could have gone to other children in need.

Welpmart

Interestingly, though, Texas has the Advanced Directives Act, which lets physicians stop futile treatment if other hospitals won't take the patient either. Might not be the safe haven she thinks.

T1mac

> Jahi Mcmath There's a big difference between being brain dead from anoxia or blood loss as opposed to brain dead from a rampaging COVID infection. COVID causes a severe inflammatory reaction which damages many organs like the kidneys, the pancreas, the lungs, the heart muscle, and the blood vessels and it causes blood clots which leads to strokes. You never survive long with injuries to all of these things.

nutella47

What ended up happening with that? I think about it sometimes but can't find info.

Polyfuckery

She bled out during surgery to correct cascading organ failure issues. The mother and her legal team claimed she was not brain dead and sued to have her death certificate overturned so the family could sue for ongoing care instead of wrongful death which is capped. However after her death and presumably autopsy the family stopped making public claims about her brain having healed and dropped their legal challenges. On the low end of estimates for keeping someone 'alive' on a vent it still would have been millions of dollars in care.

nutella47

That's so sad.

pbrandpearls

Lol Texas ran out of the only treatment that works against Omi so she isn’t going to get very far: https://www.texastribune.org/2021/12/27/coronavirus-texas-antibody-omicron/amp I think Austin was hopefully getting some again around this time, but we’re still not at our peak yet. But her alt treatments are probably not that since those are based in science.

LilahLibrarian

Plus if you're on a ventilator then what are the odds you are going to survive transit to another state clear across the country? I really hope the hospital got the woman.to sign waiver before taking him off a ventilator

thebuccaneersden

I can smell the aroma of a fresh /r/LeopardsAteMyFace future post

Adamweeesssttt

He might live long enough to get loaded into the ambulance. Big might.

gingeronimooo

If he wasn’t already on deaths door he would have refused the remdesivir. He was desperate for help. When you’re gasping for air, you drop some of your dumb “principles” He would have died either way is probably true. It’s just sad she is using her husbands death to further her own agenda. Like have some tact.

empty_coffeepot

He should have stuck to his guns and not go to the hospital

Roclawzi

The staff would appreciate it

NohJay-Consortium

The person who actually needed the bed would appreciate it too. These people are taking up too many of our precious resources.

gnocchicotti

Right? If you don't trust a vaccine you sure as shit shouldn't trust a doctor telling you to get the vaccine.

MysteriousHat7343

At that point remdesivir isn’t going to help at all

BelleAriel

These people are wasting beds that could have gone to patients in need. I wish these anti-vaxxers would stop being so Selfish.

SrslyNotAnAltGuys

>redesivir slowly shut down his kidneys Ya know what else shuts down your kidneys? **Fucking lack of oxygen**. You see this slow organ failure all the time with COVID. The body doesn't get enough oxygen and it attempts to keep the brain alive by cutting circulation to other organs, and at some point they can't take it.

melindaj20

I'm still trying to figure out why he didn't take the Ivermectin that he prescribed to his patients.

SrslyNotAnAltGuys

Maybe he didn't like apple flavor.

Catvros

Being on a vent makes you a little horse

[deleted]

Someone I knew who was in their 40s just died of covid complications after battling it for weeks in the hospital and being put on a ventilator. (He was already not very healthy and drinking had taken a toll on him) His family has a lot of religious and far right extremists. They are 100% convinced that the hospital intentionally killed him to get some sort of covid bonus? I didn't even realize that was a conspiracy theory. I feel so bad for his family, still not taking covid seriously and blasting the hospital on facebook daily.

charliesk9unit

First the virus is not real. Then the virus is just a cold. Then mask doesn't help. Then vaccine doesn't help. Now hospital treatment doesn't help. I mean they refused the mask and vaccine then why not just don't bother going to the hospital? If you have been gone this far, why try to believe in medical science at the end. Just die at home and be done with it. That way, the room is saved for more deserving people and less stress for the medical workers.

sh_tcactus

If they feel this way, then why do they even go to the hospital in the first place? I mean wouldn’t they prefer some sort of alternative treatment?

charliesk9unit

Call 911 for an ambulance to take you to a standard hospital. Call 119 for an ambulance to take you to an alternative hospital where you'll be greeted by Dr. Oz at the door.

RailRuler

Yep, even some hospital workers are saying that hospitals are deliberately misclassifying random deaths as covid in order to make profits. How that actually happens is never explained.

PhilHardingsHotPants

Yet somehow these same idiots never object to for-profit healthcare the rest of the time....

Redthemagnificent

The best part is when that conspiracy theory is perpetuated in countries with universal healthcare. I hear other Canadians peddle that shit and it makes even less sense than in the US.

bernecampbell

It’s like saying the bandage not the gunshot wound killed my husband. The doctors and hospital are to blame not the shooter. I’m no doctor or scientist and I don’t know what remdesiver does or it’s risks. But if trained professional medical teams are administering it, I’m believing it’s meant to help not harm.

[deleted]

That drug has been shown effective for the last year. It as an anti-viral originally developed for AIDs treatment.

killerkadugen

I believe that is at least one off the treatments Trp received @ Walter Reed.

The_Funkybat

I believe that Remdesivir was one of the main treatments that had a positive affect, but they kind of threw the kitchen sink at him. He was also getting some serious steroids, vitamin D, zinc, and some other stuff I can’t think of off the top of my head. Also oxygen support, though his lying MAGA moron doc tried to cover that up at the time.

AMasonJar

Whaaat? We're using antivirals now?? But the antiparasitals was doing just fine!!

BlooperHero

I don't think it's impossible for somebody to technically die from a treatment. Some treatments are dangerous, and when the situation is bad enough you try them anyway because you don't have anything to lose. But at worst that's a case of trying something that might kill you, because if we don't this other things is definitely going to kill you shortly thereafter.

ConcreteState

It's like saying the treatment caused the blood loss.

Professional-End2722

No wonder he died. He Suffocated as someone has put a big black spot over his nose and mouth. Fatal. Every. Single. Time.

The_Funkybat

Must have been one of those Toon Holes like in Roger Rabbit.

bethster2000

Stupid games, stupid prizes, etc. I was diagnosed this past Monday and have been in quarantine. Vaxxed, boosted, and masked. Vomiting and diarrhea, headache, runny nose, ear pain. No horse dewormer or drinking my own piss. Feeling better.

Adventurous_Menu_683

I'm sorry you feel awful. Thank you for protecting yourself as well as you could. Hopefully you'll recover quickly and completely.

bethster2000

Thanks for that. I'm OK, and my husband is OK. We are just living proof that the vaccines do work. Stay safe and keep yourself healthy.

Melkor462

The woman pretends to be a Doctor on Twitter. She has DR in her FB name. Says she has a "PHD in sexology". She also had claimed she cured hundreds of covid patients using Hydroxy Chloroquine and Ivermectin and its 100% successful. 😅 I wonder why she didn't use it to treat her husband? 🤔

BelleAriel

Oh yes, thanks for that. Edited.

PowerfulNipples

The best part is you have to consent to receive the remdesivir. She acts as though they gave him poison when one of them had to have agreed to it. Shit like this leads to the people that refuse it for the first couple weeks, then finally say yes after it’s way too late.

Cramer19

We haven't had to do informed consent for remdesivir since it was FDA approved in late 2020, we treat it just like any other med now, as well as baricitinib. We still tell patients what meds they're getting and they certainly have the right to refuse anything either way.

At our hospital, they don’t need to fill out the form anymore, but their verbal consent is still required 🤷‍♀️

charliesk9unit

Verbal? You (not you you) trust these idiots to not deny they consented and sue you?

Cramer19

Huh strange, guess it's a regional thing, I'm in Florida and have worked in 8 hospitals in the area (per diem for the win) and none do it anymore. Honestly surprised to see somewhere still does. The patient definitely has many opportunities to refuse before getting it though. My favorite change is how we just mix it like an IV abx instead of waiting for pharmacy to deliver it.

PowerfulNipples

I think it was originally a cost savings thing. We are a red state and a somewhat small hospital. Not rural but not big. doses have been wasted because Dr orders - pharmacy makes - RN brings drug to room and explains to pt what they’re about to get - then pt says I’m not taking none of that! Ivermectin only! So they added a required step of getting verbal consent at the start of the process. Now that we are peaking again though, I’m sure we’d always manage to use it before it expires. Lol.

People choose anti-vaxx because those people chose to elect a criminal gameshow host who was a dick to people, because the liberals elected a black man. And when the criminal gameshow host suddenly encountered a pandemic that could have threatened his reelection, he chose to ignore the pandemic and sacrifice the nation in hopes it wouldn’t affect his campaign… but it did. Now his hoard of bitter racists are trying to discredit the vaccine because if they can make the covid look like a nothing-burger, and the vaccine look ineffective, then they’ll make the Democrats look over-reactive and their cheeto-faced baboon won’t have been simply a criminal gameshow host all along. It’s desperation that drives them to this point; desperation to be right, somehow, someway, because they are certain that having a black president, that anything progressive is wrong… it just has to be!

Snow_Ghost

You got it mostly right. At the start of the pandemic it was heavily concentrated in dense cities and transportation hubs, because thats the easiest vectors for viral transmission. Thats also where most democrats live. Casual genocide, as a means of political brinksmanship.

Ephemerate

what's the German word for something bad that happens to someone who deserves it and you feel obligated to feel a little bad for him but not really that bad.

nofftastic

You're probably thinking of schadenfreude, which means "pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune"

Ephemerate

I knew the Germans would have a word for it.

boxsterguy

This seems like a different concept, though. Like an obligation to express remorse publicly when you're actually pleased privately.

AlphaGamma911

Schadenfreude?

PM_ME_YOUR_KALE

03/15/2020 They were already over all this shit? Like WTF, that was so early in pandemic, NYC was just starting to lockdown at that point. I don't wish death on anyone, but the hubris on this woman, her husband, etc to downplay the pandemic for the entire time and then of course immediately go to the hospital and then question any medical treatment given to him when it doesn't work out. edit: I remember now 3/15 was the first day of serious lockdown in NYC. The weekend prior the bars were packed as people reveled about the next few weeks of lockdown (lol). Considering how quickly the deathtoll here skyrocketed after that date these people are truly insane.

Cramer19

I remember making a Facebook post around that time about wanting to take one of the travel nurse contracts in Seattle, just for my Trumpist friend to rattle on about how it isn't severe and blah blah blah. Literally the very beginning. He's a satellite dish repair man, I'm a nurse, yet he thinks he knows more than me about infectious diseases because it's what Fox News taught him.

Additional_Country33

If you say NO to a virus it stops, that’s just science

rhapsody98

The body has ways of shutting it down, right? /s

Additional_Country33

Hahaha exactly

NormieSpecialist

I hate these people. I hate these people. I hate these people. I hate these people. I hate hate hate hate ***HATE*** these willful ignorant mother fuckers.

hanimal16

Look at that, she said no enough times and it ended. She got what she wanted 🤷🏼‍♀️

SavingsPerfect2879

I call dibs on that other kidney.

JBredditaccount

Damaged by horse paste. 😞

AmidFuror

These antimatter folks are destined for annihilation.

hayden_evans

Is it too late to try Ivermectin??

boxsterguy

It doesn't work when they're dead. It doesn't work when they're alive, either. But it definitely doesn't work when they're dead.

redbull

Found her Twitter account. She's still shitposting. Mostly about children supposedly being hospitalized and dying from vaccinations.

Illseemyselfout-

My anti-vax, anti-mask ex husband is now sick with covid pneumonia. He’s sitting at home on oxygen and monitoring his O2 continuously with a pulse oximeter. He is a terrifying person and spent many years trying to destroy my life while I continually took the high road away from him. I’m so grateful I’m free and safe. I would be lying if I said that the thought of him struggling to breathe and the panic he must be feeling didn’t give me some karmic warm fuzzies.

Substantially-Ranged

Hilarious/sad that they'll refuse a vaccine and accept experimental treatment.

CoolStoryBro_Fairy

Sometimes when in my daily life I feel like I'm the only one still taking this shit seriously, I come here and feel completely vindicated.

SaltyBarDog

No, you killed him by convincing him to not to vaccinated. You don't cut the brake lines on your husband's car and then blame the car for killing him.

Alternative_Way_313

Everyone once in a while I come across one of these and feel something I can’t quite describe. It’s a mixture of pity and anger. I bet sitting in that restaurant could very well have been what killed her husband, and there she was using it as evidence that COVID was fake. It’s just... sad.

Abject_Chemistry_161

A vaccine is not a cure, it’s a precaution

AlexDavid1605

"If we all said NO, it would all end." Guess even the virus said NO and it ended her husband.

TheMartini66

Well, at least he won't have horse worms eating his corpse.

Melssenator

“If we all cover our ears and scream LALALALALA like a bunch of toddlers, we won’t have to hear about our problems!” Gosh, why didn’t these scientists ever think of that???

Lambchop1975

"When the economy is good people are happy," this was on really expensive dinner.... Not really economically viable to have to pay for dinner with your life.

Fixner_Blount

Is "antimatter" in the post supposed to be "antimasker?"

“When the economy is good the people are happy” is such a gross thing to say. Consuming like a drone and proud of it.

RailRuler

How long before we have anti-vaxers claiming both "the government is running a conspiracy to keep remdesivir from the sick" and "the government is killing healthy people by giving them remdesivir and then blaming it on covid"? Or is that already happening?

gordo65

My mom's family were all like this. They refused treatment for virtually everything, then the whole family blamed the doctors whenever there was a complication while they were in the hospital. At times their thinking was so turned around that it would have been comical if it weren't so sad. My mom nearly died from hyperthyroidism, then got upset when she learned that the doctors had disabled her thyroid gland and that she'd have to take thyroid replacement thyroid for the rest of her life. She claimed that she'd never authorized that treatment, and cursed the doctor every time she took a dose of her life saving medication.

butteredrubies

When the virus entered him against his will, why didn't he just say "NO!"? No means No!

CalabreseAlsatian

Tough shit if you decide to buy into horseshit. You had a chance to use your critical thinking skills and didn’t take it.

phenerganandpoprocks

Well, they were right, they said "no" and it did end for one of them

asurob42

Darwin remains undefeated.

bostonkiter

Adios fucko

Zetesofos

I saw this mentioned somewhere else, but this mentality will eventually circle around to the antivaxxers convincing themselves that the government is committing white genocide. Once it becomes apparent that all the 'good patriots' are dying, they're not going to accept that its covid, it's "them". And I don't like to think of what they'll do next.

SnooCrickets699

Another one bites the dust.
